R17: Mariners V Perth

Fab vs Powell

Feel that Fab is starting further back or wider than Powell and using his excelleration to get past the first man and then the break is on. He has speed that Powell doesn't have. This is also being reflected in the players looking for fab or putting the ball in a spot where he can go get it and then do the rest. Powell just can't do this.

Bingham was great at his strengths but Roy suits Fab's style of counter attack much more than Bingham, due to his pace and opens up for through balls. Bingham a bit slow for that. That said Bingham gave better options on corners at both ends and from goal kicks.

Now Posco, Fab and McGing do it again and again.

To often we get excited about a good performance wanting to resign everyone after one good game then next week we are picking wholes in there shit game and not wanting them resigned.

Time for consistency

Still yet to see anyone really put 5 or 6 good games together

Moss is a complete fraud. A worse coach than Tony and a below average tv pundit. I'd like to see a lifetime ban for him from CCS. "Sorry mate, it says here your banned from the stadium, for impersonating a coach and for embezzlement (alleged)....jog on pal"
First order of business with we have management rights.

Monty - he is the leading light for the A league on what a Captain is. To play as he does, and lead as he does, after the two seasons he's just had... what a f**king star. Reddy is not fit to walk the same pitch as him, and the football gods agreed and he was sent accordingly.

That has to go in your signature!!

Exactly. The job this season is to not finish last. If we can go on and beat Adelaide we're a chance, and that means consistency.

Terrible review by Fox Sports (they somehow think Buhagiar should have been sent off):

Jesus, who is THIS hack!?

As I took the comments from Bosnich and Rudan they didn't really have an issue with it after the game... There was some speculating that Trent might've stumbled missed or something stupid like that, but it was off-the-hand type "if it was to have gone wrong, this is how" style comments.

The thing about Trent is just damn near ridiculous... Unless he's mixed it up with Posco's yellow, which I actually though was a decent call but could've gone as a red too...
At the end of the day though, I'd have liked to see a bit of discussion about why every tackle on a Perth player leads to at least two rolls and a head-stand, even if there's barely a touch... They were so bloody theatrical last night it was almost embarrassing.

Oh also, did anyone see the start of the stoush between Monty and Smiljanovic in the drinks break?
I only caught it after the crowd started booing, so only in time to see Smiljanovic with his hand around Monty's neck and Malinkovic trying to separate them.

Phil Moss on Foxsports news
"I'm not going to air dirty laundry but I do know the goings on behind the scenes or much of it. The history of to why they are not shaking hands and why Nick Montgomery waved Liam off when he hit his red card.
BUT what I will say is this. Liam has made a stance, and on the information I have I back Liam Reedy in this situation, um and he's an honest guy and he's decided he's not going to forgive or forget something has happened behind the scenes at the Mariners while he was there. I back Liam 100%."
:naughty:

Hardly surprising is it though? As I recall, the talk around the end of the "Moss era" was that two camps had pretty much formed, one supporting Moss, with Reddy, Bosnar, Fitzy, Caceres and a couple more in it and one pushing for us to move on - Monty and I can't even remember right now but some more guys.

So you'd expect Moss to support Reddy wouldn't you?

Slater said during the call that Trent was lucky to still be on the park. While some of the replays look bad there is one that shows that when he lunges at the ball he is definitely going for the ball and the Perth player's foot was not even in line. It was a reckless challenge - as was Posco's and they both deserved yellows.

Another thing that concerned me with the commentary was the constant reference to how Perth should have been out of sight at half time. Having watched the game again the three shots they talked about was Castro from well outside the area, Taggart's miss when Keogh was definitely offside in the lead up play before he crossed it to Castro and Keogh's attempt that came from Perth getting the ball from a blatant foul while we were attacking and Keogh once again being definitely offside.

As an aside I'm sure Monty was in KGV's ear pointing out that Trent's speed would have meant he got the ball if not fouled before it went to Dino and he had a simple pass for an open goal. Rudan and Bosnich both were sure that the fastest player in the League would not have got there.

We were wondering what that was all about.
We finally played grown up football last night. Going in hard, niggling them. Staying down when we had to. Breaking up play when we lost the ball by fouling and to cap it off. Monty running 50m to beg the ref to send reddy off.
Slowly learning. Well done lads.
Lawries teams weren't usually as good as their opponents but you knew you were in a scrap. Looks like Okon is from the same school.

Idiots. Trent would have regained possession before the defender could have made the challenge. That's all that's important. Frustrating how so-called professionals can be so clueless about the laws of the game they make a living talking about.

Just watching the replay - Risdon's handling was also a blatant red card too for DOGSO. Our player was still in possession of the ball, nobody other than the keeper to beat, heading for goal. In fact, that was as much a black-and-white red card as Reddy's.

Can't see much of Trent's YC
