Well, i look forward to supporting this team over forums and odd news clippings. I was stoked to hear about this comp and the thought of having a womens and a youth game before the main match as a curtain raiser. But now i feel this is a missed opportunity and they wont get the support they couldve got if they had of played their matches on the coast.

Why cant the Womens team train and play on the coast, if both mens teams already do this?

CC playing out of Western and South Western Sydney, can someone explain the logic in that?
this is because not enough money behind w league at the moment so cant afford to play at blue tongue! mariners are highly supportive of the womens team even though its running out of sydney due to their inability to financially assit or run them plus great opportunity to spread the marinators vibe into other areas!so still central coast mariners unfortunately funds are an issue so lets get behind them and show them our support marinaters! :vhappy:

Sorry I'm with perm will look at results discuss it on the forums and look out for news articles but that will be about it. how can we support something when of the ten games 4 are out of the state, two of the three games at parramatta games clash with mariners games and the other three are at Campbelltown of which one clashes with a mariners game. So the average mariners punter is only going to have three opportunities to support the team R4 and 5 at Campbelltown or R10 at Parra.

of these the R5 game is the day after we play melbourne (with a number of people going down for this) and the R10 is two days after christmas and the day after we have had a derby game against Newcastle at the start of the holiday period.

For someone living at the northern end of the coast or further up campbelltown is to far meaning the one game we can go to is during some of the worse times to be on the roads.

I too am mystified as to no games at Central Coast but as a parent of a player selected and living in the new Central Coast suburb of Macarthur I am personally quite pleased to have home games at Campbelltown Stadium. Hey I might be the whole Home Crowd!!!!!
.

Redbeard, good luck to your daughter and all the girls.

took me a while to read mick's post. i vote that he has the best avatar in the history of the forum!

back on topic: people have really summed it up here, its a missed opportunity. parra is much much much closer to me than the coast but i still refuse to go the matches. i hate this 'mariners fc' brand shit.

I stole it from the Sydney forum.

It very much reminds me of my neighbourhood. There is a new young cat next door called Maverick and he comes up and tries to play with our older cat called Barry.

Maverick tries to wrestle and swipe Barry all in play. Barry sits there and takes it for a while but you could see his patience wane. Then Barry unleashes and it is all over as Maverick goes hurtling towards his place.

dru definitly with u buddy agree totally! but from what i hear they were going to be playing all home games out of blue tongue, unfortunately cost, resources etc has prevented them from doing it..i wont be able to make games but will definitly be looking out and see how they go quietly supporting them from afar! apparently their games are all free to get into as well! i guess they have to start somewhere till the womens comp becomes established with sponsorship etc and hopefully if successful in a year or so they can play at home!!

smells like the ARC to me - with nonsensical fixturing and no local links it might well be a one season wonder.

. it almost seems that this is the intention (certainly my first and lingering thought), a token gesture of 'we tried but it just didn't work, couldn't get the support it needed to survive'

Got to feel sorry for the girls, they train 4 times a week, get paid nothing, not even petrol money, have no home games, no supporters, mariners can't find $15 000 to host a game at Bluetongue, no local press coverage, yet they will play their hearts out.
And that's the highest league in the country!
Wonder how many Socceroos/A-League guys would play just for the love of it.
And to top it off, be bagged out on forums like this????

Who has bagged the girls out? the majority have vented their frustrations with the comp and the lack of local games.

The usual knockers of womens football have been unusually quiet on this one as compared to matilda threads.

I beleive the girls are going to Sundays game and being introduced at half time. Hopefully we'll see an appropriate level  of support and encouragement

No one's bagged out the girls, just the administrators and the way they have set up the Mariners team

I'm all for the girls team and hope they do well. I just can't fathom that, not one game is being played here on the Central Coast!  :-\ As for travelling costs, many players in recreation and rep football travel some distance for the love of the game...

They are no representing the Central Coast as they are not playing here. I refuse to have anything to do with them. They should name themselves Western Sydney!!

Ask the FFA/Mariners why there are no games. It's got nothing to do with the girls. The trials were for both FC and the Mariners. My understanding it was a take it in turns selection. The players never even got a choice which team they played for.
It's not as though the girls can relocate. They are being paid a big fat 0.
Try and understand the position they are in. Be happy we have a W-League team that's costing the Mariners nothing to run. Soccer NSW are covering the bill.

Hence why it is Sydney based.

Still doesnt mean we as Mariners fans are going to support it. It really smells like Central Coast Rays all over except they actually played here.
