ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Ask the FFA/Mariners why there are no games. It's got nothing to do with the girls. The trials were for both FC and the Mariners. My understanding it was a take it in turns selection. The players never even got a choice which team they played for.
It's not as though the girls can relocate. They are being paid a big fat 0.
Try and understand the position they are in. Be happy we have a W-League team that's costing the Mariners nothing to run. Soccer NSW are covering the bill.

mate, again we repeat - we are not bagging out the girls

thumbs up that they train four nights a week with no pay, but so do alot of people in a wide range of sports and they are no less worthy of support

it doesn't mean i will be supporting them, just like i don't support Gladesville who carry the Mariners logo and are affiliated to the club because they train and play in Sydney and have nothing to do with the coast

heck, the central coast mariners admin don't even have a say in how things are run so how far detached from the club can you get

Mick i totally agree i nominate that we terminate this thread and never speak of the team again! They are not a Central Coast Team! Why does every other A-League Club have there own team except for us. I for one will not watch a single game out of protest to Football NSW and FFA!

No aleague club has their own team. They are all simply using the aleague clubs brand names. Why, I don't know, as none have any input, financial or otherwise. All are run by their respective federations & funded by FFA government grants.
Even the jets are only playing 3 of their five "home" games in the Newcastle region.

CC is the victim of being the only region not covered by it's own federation.

It is not ideal. But hopefully will grow and result in mroe investment, wages for the girls, and the return to bluey

So how exactly is it 'our' team then?

It isn't managed by CCM.  It isn't played on the Central coast.

I don't know what they plan on doing with the W-league - I honestly can't see any potential as they've basically eliminated any possibility for a supporter base.

Got to feel sorry for the girls, they train 4 times a week, get paid nothing, not even petrol money, have no home games, no supporters, mariners can't find $15 000 to host a game at Bluetongue, no local press coverage, yet they will play their hearts out.
And that's the highest league in the country!

We've got a long way to go before we see anything even vaguely resembling equality between the sexes here....

Why aren't the W-league teams under the umbrella of the HAL clubs?
And what the hell is wrong with FNSW to have the games in Western Sydney?  Wouldn't Gladesville make more sense (I believe they've actually got a reasonably decent rep-level field - I can understand if the reason there's no games on the CC is because there's no fields, and bluetongue is too expensive).

. the cynic in me would suggest a politically motivated token gesture (and a tax write-off for lowy)

I'm inclined to agree.

Implement one half-arsed women's competition whilst doing everything you can to ensure failure, then when it folds in 2 years, shrug your shoulders and say 'hey, I tried.  The players/clubs/fans didn't do enough' whilst really thinking 'thank god we got that BS out of the way'

First game is today.

Also 4pm on abc is the Glory Sfc game. Should be interesting to see what the coverage is like

Hopefully it will be better than the coverage of the Matildas

With 3 games being played at the same time we will with any luck have regular updates from the other games. possibly see if abc radio is doing anything.

I think you all have to give the girls a break. It wasn't their decision where their home ground was. Don't you think if they had the opportunity to play in front a crowd supporting them at the Mariners home ground they wouldn't jump at it? They are doing the best they can with the amount of money they have. Maybe if the Mariners acctually help them out and give them some funding and allow them to play at their ground they might have a better chance. They are doing a good job and represent the badge well!!!

Keep it up girls.
