ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Bye Nik (but we'll meet again)

Odd rule.

I thought one idea of having youth league was that they would be first consideration when picking up a player for injury cover (much as we have started to do). Perhaps MV don't rate their youth.

I do not think the Mrdja move for injury cover for Celeski (whose been out for most of season!!) (rather than for a vacancy in the squad numbers, and therefore a paying us a transfer fee) should have been allowed until the end of the regular season.

Once the championships series starts ... new thing again.

I have no problem with transfers or loans for ACL alone.

I guess by being an injury replacement, and as such technically acording to acl a fully contracted player, he can skip around the 6 month minimum for loan players in acl?

From Lawrie's twitter:

"Nik mrdja will be in the squad for mlb victory tonight against fury as an injury replacement player for the rest of this season and acl"

Hope we have a team left for tomorrow...

$10 says he starts bangin' them in left right and centre!

He most certainly banged them left and right last night, nothing in the centre though...

You thought correct. In fact it was stated as such in the FFA youth league regulations. 'Preference to be given' are the word used as far as I remember. Then again, the youth league regulations also state that because the purpose of the YL is development, all youth league squad members (includes both YL keepers, obviously) must be given a minimum of 30 mins in each YL match and that hasn't been adhered to either. By most if not all clubs. Check for unused subs in past matches for clarification.

edit.. Now I can't find the detailed match reports on the aleague site with squads and substitutions to back it up.  :yellowcard:

Bit flippant Dru.

Cruiser has been with the Mariners since before day 1. He is obviously hurting about the club. He is at least making an argument, and has an opinion.

Chris I might agree with you if it had been posted straight after a loss but come on regreting every dollar he has spent on the team this year? And there really hasn't been an argument from him in this thread all he has done has called the club a joke.

Like Razorback, another who has been a supporter since before day 1 (but so passionate he let his good sense depart him completely but I am sure briefly (and I hope will have his ban lifted after a reasonable period in the sin-bin), there are good solid fans out there who are very unhappy. Some aren't coming to games, and some are coming but want answers from the club. A club which has dropped the ball in terms of fan relations and communication.

At least they aren't bagging for the sake of it like some others have, or have vendettas against certain players or coaching staff.

There may be upsides for the move of Mrdja, but generally we, the fans lose, and in the football community there is disquiet about such arrangements.

We all want answers, to know what is happening with the club,or at least evidence that there is a reason for the decisions. If we get 3 youth players on the bench or pitch this weekend and a number next weekend then I think it is a good decision.

Apart from heff I don't see any of these loans having been bad. all have happened after we are no longer in the running for the finals.

You don't think blooding young players could be done in the many pre season trial games played next season rather than risk further dropping the lessening degree of 'goodwill' and support  through adding to the possibility of a continuation of losses in the last two games? The last opportunity this season to regain some of the lost goodwill or risk having it slide a little more?

Rebuilding in fine and has to be done regardless, but once the goodwill lifeblood of any club plummets it's a damn site more difficult to regain it, as shown by the jets continued failure to regain lost support following a poor season.

to be honest no, because the club needs to see how the youth players in proper HAL games and if they're good enough for a first team contract. this is because players like smith and sherlock, i think, will be too old for youth next year, and players like bernie, fitzy, and panni may have other clubs interested in them, and if they wait until next seasons trial matches it may be too late

Basically what Harry said. Pre season games really don't show if a player is going to make the grade, These next two games are against teams still jockeying for positions trying to get home finals and the like and as such will give us a better view of how close they are. If it was young guys who were going to be in the academy for a few years then yes do it in pre season, the ones that are close to needing full contracts need to be blooded in proper games.

And we are talking about bringing them off the bench for the most part in a team with experienced heads around them not fielding a youth team for the last two games.

I can't understand why I haven't heard a dicky bird from FC or GCW (especially GCW) about Nik's transfer. I don't care that FFA say it's all legal (and it obviously is), if I was officially involved with those clubs I'd be screaming from the rooftops.
They may not rate Nik, but MV obviously think he's better than anyone else they have to fill Archie's spot. Yes I know he's officially filling in for someone else, but if Archie hadn't been injured, they wouldn't have come looking for Nik.
Like others have said I don't begrudge Nik having a run in the finals & ACL, but not for our last couple of games in the regular season. Tonight's a derby game and Nik has been our only scorer (apart from Kwassie) in the last few weeks. We need him here.
I can just imagine the furore if this happened in the AFL or NRL. Absolutely deafening. I'm surprised the anti-football media haven't made much more of it; our sport has certainly left itself open for ridicule.
I will be going tonight but my confidence is shot. I'm sure the young guys will do us proud, but for the first time since I decided to be a Mariner supporter, I've given some thought to not bothering.

Miron and Palmer both already have please explains over comments so I doubt you will hear from them at the moment. If they lose on sunday I would expect something about it in Cullina's blog on the world game site.

The senior Cullina has already came out against it though.

Well, of course it is a joke but once again the Mariners have shown that when it comes to financial chicanery they are right up there with the best. And I have no doubt this loophole will be closed. What no-one seems to have picked up is that it makes Mrdja a genuine candidate to play for the Socceroos against Indonesia, if Pim sticks to A League players, because Mrdja is one of the very few who has demonstrated he can hold the ball up in that accursed 4-2-3-1 formation.

Being critical of your team when they have been inexcusably crap is not bandwagoning. There are a few people on here who need to get real.

Clubs exist of blind faith treat the punters like mugs well and fine in good times people will spend on new supporters gear and season tickets but there is the other side of the coin if they are going crap I beleive you need to make a point to the powers that be that your are not happy. This forum is one way people can get the dirty water off their chest no one takes any notice its harmless and its cheaper than than seeing a shrink.

Here here. If the club doesn't care about the result of a match (and it's obvious they don't anymore) why should the supporters. We'll see on Monday if we actually give any of the young blokes reasonable game time - I have my doubts. A wooden spoon is a wooden spoon and I'd rather we didn't have one.

Personally I've never felt less like going to a match (although I would have gone), and less excited on game day since they began. Not really how you want your supporters to be I would have thought, particularly from a season ticket holder since pre-season V1.

I guess I might be a season or two behind some of you original guys, but at the moment I still go to games to watch the football. I have a couple of beers, I laugh or swear (or both) and then I go home and go back to work.

I'll probably start worrying about political shenanigans some time during V6 or 7..?
