ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Bye Nik (but we'll meet again)

Travis has taken on men and turned into space well... unfortunately disagree that his distribution has been anywhere near the quality of Hernandez.

I hope like hell berni gets a run tomorrow, maybe theyll re think Niks contract after seeing a striker capable of controlling the ball in front of goal

Bernie isn't in the squad.
Brady should get a run at some point though.

Think bernie would get pretty trashed by Loony Ljubo and the Hyphenator till he gains a little more bulk.

I think the main fear people have about this Nik deal is that we've all seen, especially lately, what a contract means at CCM. The fact that he's contracted to come back to us only means that the 2 most extreme outcomes are:

  • He gets injured or proves to be past it / lazy / whatever, and we're committed to pay him big $ and take up a squad spot for another year

    or
  • He absolutely kills it, gets an offer from an OS club (or MV), and the CCM let him go because they "have never stood in the way of a player's ambitions".

...or anything in between those 2 extremes.

Legitimate question - the SMH says that Mrdja was signed as an injury replacement for Celeski....

Didn't we get stiffed a few seasons back over a like-for-like injury replacement??  May have been something to do with Mori if I remember correctly.

_Pretty sure_ that Mrdja is a striker (or at least pretends to be one) and Celeski is a DM.  Just sayin'.

they chucked the "like for like" rule because of the mori debacle

Epic can of worms, surely??

"Oh look, our third keeper has broken both his legs, hello short term signing Robinho for the finals".  (not really, but you get my point)

they now have to be players of similar or lesser value

You heard of the wooden spoon? You want it? Looks like the Marinerts have hoisted the white flag and dont care if they get it. They are a f**kling joke and I regret every $ I've spent watching them this season.

Don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out.  :-*

This is a good thing if we take the chance to blood some youth see if they are really ready and a first team player doesn't get the shits with being benched in the process, ala Fowler. We don't have to fight relegation so why not look to the future cause lets face it this year was always going to be a rebuilding one, now we get the chance to really work on it. Frankly it doesn't matter if we got a couple of wooden spoons I would take pride in sticking with the team during the dark days, not that that is something you are likely to be able to say if the above really is your attitude.

Bit flippant Dru.

Cruiser has been with the Mariners since before day 1. He is obviously hurting about the club. He is at least making an argument, and has an opinion.

Like Razorback, another who has been a supporter since before day 1 (but so passionate he let his good sense depart him completely but I am sure briefly (and I hope will have his ban lifted after a reasonable period in the sin-bin), there are good solid fans out there who are very unhappy. Some aren't coming to games, and some are coming but want answers from the club. A club which has dropped the ball in terms of fan relations and communication.

At least they aren't bagging for the sake of it like some others have, or have vendettas against certain players or coaching staff.

There may be upsides for the move of Mrdja, but generally we, the fans lose, and in the football community there is disquiet about such arrangements.

I've got no dramas about the club cutting losses by exploiting loopholes. But this rule makes a mockery of the A League.

I was busy all yesterdayand knew nothing of this. First I knew was watching Fox Sport News last night to see Mrdja playing in Melbourne colours WTF

ha ha ha ha ha ha. Mrdja finally finds some form and we trade him!!! ha ha ha ha ha ha

The Mariners are becoming a joke.

Also helps a fellow Australian club in their ACL bid.

Don't think this makes us a joke.

Dont get me wrong, I am all for Nik being loaned to MV, but I think they could have at least waited until the end of the season.

As for "helping" an Aussie team durring the ACL, I cant remember getting much support, player wise, from any other teams.
