Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Geez...have you paid any attention?

Who would you have put on the field instead if you were coach? Zwaanswijk? Messi? Oh wait, we can only play who we have.

What would you have done differently as coach? Told the defenders before the game and then during half time not to let in goals? To score more?

We've been over this relentlessly. Until we flesh out the squad with some experience/quality we're going to get skinned by quality, in form, high spend teams. What difference could any coach make at this point.

I think many a Coach who would be wanting TW's job may beg to differ.

TW said it himself pre-game, if it were Promo/Releg he'd have gone about it from 'back-to-front' as opposed to 'front-to-back'.

My question, as would be many others (including those Coaches wanting his job) is .....

"Why didnt you deal with the defensive problems first and foremost after soooooo many loses and goals conceded ?????"

NOT ONCE, have I heard Tony say pre-game, in an interview or anywhere this season for that matter:

'we've been working on our defence ALL week, I'm looking for a marked improvement next game from the work weve been doing with the whole team in that area of our game"
..... or something even remotely like it.

Non-existent, Zilch ..... Nada ???

I find it interesting that many of our fans accept the reality pre-game we're gonna get snotted and then act surprised and angry after games when we lose as expected?

I don’t think anyone's surprised about the loss.

Angry maybe, because despite the season being 'binned' in most peoples eyes they're hoping for individual players to show some improvement, in the areas where they've each been either underperforming or downright shite throughout the season.

Also hoping TW can bring about such small improvements in these final games.

Simple things, like maintaining possession for some considerable time with something positive eventuating at the end of possession rather than a cheap turn-over.

I think it's those type of little things that are still borning some anger. ;)

I think all the criticisms are fair. I just don't see how we can be sure TW is the culprit. I agree with your point re building from the back like Arnie and Popovic both do Rowdy. Not all coaches do, but I think it's wisest. If you can't win. Don't lose.

But the club went unabashedly for something else.

:piano: The entertainment factor. :piano:

They failed spectacularly and learnt a lesson, I can accept that. At least they're aware and not hiding form it like some coaches do. I actually hope they don't ditch the idea to be an excitement machine and play as anti football as Wanderers typically do, but I just hope they realise you can't do it with peanuts, and the idea isn't to entertain the other teams fans by conceding goals o_O

If that's the case then I think those people might be a little lacking in perspective.

The perspective that comes with acknowledging that we as the last placed team competed in the first half and even equalised. Overcame a shoddy opening ten to actually look like a reasonable football against a team competing for the premiers plate.

The perspective that comes with knowing we were always a long shot to win that game - that most of the boys had a fair dig and were simply overrun by a much, much better football team.

The perspective that we're in the closing stages of a wooden spoon season and there is little more than pride in the shirt to play for.

From last night I'm not going to sit and cry for TW to be shitcanned - it's a waste of energy and anger at the situation and the way it is. I'm happy to watch that superb Mitch Austin cross and sublime LG header on loop. Take the good from the bad and move on. Hopefully we can get a result out of the scummers next Saturday and look forward to next season with some sort of renewed hope.

And when they could see it failed spectacularly, what was the alternative plan put in place to try and minimise the damage?

Oh I don't know. A coach who can actually pick a balanced side and coach a basic defensive structure might be prepared to have a go and do better.

When Walmsley knifed Moss to steal his job we all thought it would be a good thing. How wrong we were.

He can't manage people, he can't tolerate opposing views and he can't do the basics of his role.

He has to go or nothing will change

My Reading of the Tea Leafs is out.

Some sobering stats. Only the NZ Knights had less points thus us, and we have conceded the must number of goals ever even more than North Queensland when we had an 11 team competition.

This is a salary capped league even allowing for some teams that have some marquees and we don't spend all the cap . However not all teams have marquees.

Our defence has hardly improved all year.

Then some of the weird calls, like playing Garcia as a 9, there have been quite a few with the Garcia arguably the worse.

The non playing of Bray ... just is unexplainable ... OK I know the last couple of weeks he has been injured.

Rant over had my two cents worth ....

If you need to ask the question what difference could any coach make then I don't think any answer is possible. To me the answer and results would be and are so obvious.

Are you seriously saying no coach is capable of improving our defensive structure with the current squad ... Over one and a half seasons ... tis not like he started last month he has had one and a half seasons and our defensive structure is as poor if not worst now that the start of the season...

If I had seen improvement in decision making and marking or a change in style I could possibly think maybe ... but nothing has changed except things have gone from bad to worst.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
Im with FFC , he has improved nothing about the situation since round 2, even me, a near football tactical moron, can see his done nothing to evaluate and remedy the defensive situation....his stats alone would get him flicked in any other country , thats assuming he even got a look in on the interview process
nup, sad to say Fraudsley has to be punted forthwith, probably not even upstairs just punted

Walmsley confirmed post game that the players he signed haven't improved.

I think that was his attempt to blame them.

Mate, either you can't recruit or you can't coach.

Pick one
