Too many people on the coast and in businesses are just expecting to get free tickets to the game after the first three seasons of hundreds (maybe a thou or two) free tickets given away for each game.
Not many have stepped up and actually purchased tickets now that theyre not getting the free tickets they once depended on.
Kind of bugs me when people claim themselves as big supporters of the team and when they dont get their free ticket from their boss or company, they dont show.
Sean how many tix were given away for free in the past season? I was also of the opinion that the Mariners generally were not giving too many away, although I was aware they did do that on occasions. A person whining about the club's performance when they haven't actaully made some commitment themselves is a bit poor form.

If there is some positive news about some half decent signings, more people would be tempted to lay some money down for the whole season.
I don't think it's the fact the amount of money required is a bit high, but rather they commit for the season and then get let down with a substandard team from the start.
Lyall & Lawrie have already been quite public about the need to improve the squad, so people will wait until they hear of said signings.
I'd half suspect too, that the club has peeked at some of the comments on this forum and realised the fans want to know more details about those two 'tbc' games and who is in the squad before deciding what sort of ticket to get - if at all.

How if at all this includes player transfers, player recruitment policy, style of play ... or simply money to build a motel on free land, next to river with its own club, just off the F3 next to an industrial estate. Beyond this how much management time is being spent in the partnership with the building of the academy, speaking of which an announcement of when they expect the plans to be approved and construction to begin.
There is no river of any significance next to the new development, however, you did neglect to mention the railway station.
As for the start of construction, I don't believe they've engaged the designers as yet, so I imagine they won't be getting Council approval in June as planned. Construction was planned to start in early January 2010 and that might happen, but only if they really pull their finger out now to get the designs moving.
This is another sticking point for a few people too. Many have heard of the development plans, and lord knows we've all heard it said many times since then, that the economic situation has changed radically.
Word of a delay like you have just mentioned may end up becoming a chinese whisper campaign if the club doesn't keep everyone informed about what is happening here... a little web page within their website just mentioning what stage they are at, will give people a lot more confidence that the club hasn't floundered into something it cannot manage. We don't need a lot of detail, but a calming update on the situation would be reassuring for those about to plunge some money down for the whole season.
In fact, if there's a delay due to changed credit situation and the property development scene, the club owning up to a delay because of that would be quite responsible and give those who may have some concerns about the club's liquidity a decent reassurance boost.
