ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

So to all you haters who won’t renew because of our current slump, I say good riddance, good luck waiting for that NRL team you are probably waiting for............ which may never to arrive.

It will definitely arrive. Its only a matter of time before one of NRL's broken down old clubs makes a desperate cash grab and moves here. The funny thing is, that will probably just seal their fate to die a quick death. As far as I can tell, the Coast doesn't want someone else's throwback of an NRL team. And why would we want a team that is only moving here because its forced to because of money?

I for one will be renewing my membership/season ticket. AND my wife, who has seen the light (reflected from Gumps shaved head) will also be signing up for this season too.

WHY?

Because, we are Coasties, and we are PROUD of it. In my view, the Mariners are the embodiment of that pride.
So were not doing well at the moment, SO WHAT?
Anyone who follows the Mariners knows that you cannot write us off. We will come back.
It may not happen in our next game, or even next season, but it WILL happen. And when it does, how good is going to be when we look back at what we are going through now and realise it was all worth it?.

So to all you haters who won’t renew because of our current slump, I say good riddance, good luck waiting for that NRL team you are probably waiting for............ which may never to arrive.
well said.

Agree an excellant post!

Sounds funny but the fans benefit from form slumps. By that I mean when the good times come again (and they will) it is that much sweeter! It is this cycle that is the true meaning of what it means to be a "Supporter" of any football team!

"Where were you when we were shit?"

will look forward to giving that run when we recover from this current low point and the glory hunters come flocking back.

Bag the glory hunters as much as you want, but they are an integral part of the success of a football club, you see coaches and managers the world over saying it, we need to entertain the fans to get them to come back to watch games!!

Glory hunters = money = marquee/stability = more success = more Glory hunters = (repeat entire cycle)

Agree with your comments but us loyal fans are far more important than the glory hunters :)

im not getting season ticket. the way they r playing we shuld get paid 2 watch it. Central coast divison 1 is more entertaining ;)

Its exactly this sort of mentality which is killing the Mariners.... Yeah they are playing shit, and aren't that entertaining, but not turning up to support them isn't going to help.

He didn't say he wouldn't support them.

Hopefully everyone is still going to stay solid.  I didn't renew our season tickets because I thought CCM had shafted Gumps...they did but later resigned him but i'd made up my mind and allocated the dosh elsewhere and they we had another baby on the run.
We still went to most games but i'm not looking at a season ticket unless its a great offer this season.
On the positive side i'm trying to get my team mates and families to go on mass to each game on a group basis.

You didn't renew season ticket because one player was apparently not being signed? Are you serious mate?  :headbutt:

Players come and go - just ask Kwassi!(or the other way around as in Adam's case, lol)

You are a classic example of being fairweather. 1 player does not make a team, and you really have to get over your Gumps obsession - sooner rather than later he is not going to be playing anymore (he's way over 30 as it is) and then what are you going to do? Slash your wrists in mourning?

C'mon Wombat get real.  ::)

Hi Clarence,

I was being very real.  I was disgusted at the clubs handling of Gumpy when inferior players were being protected. I don't like injustice.
I made my feelings very clear on here and the only way I could make a protest (even if CCM didn't know the reason why some people didn't renew) was by not renewing.

If the Gumps decision was made in the interests of the team performing better ....I could live with it...it wasn't.

I am certainly not a fair-weather supporter (I still support Leeds ffs) and have probably been to more Mariners games than a lot of people on this site.

I'll be there on Tuesday with at least 20 others, 15 of who wouldn't be going it wasn't for me pushing them.

We now have a brand new baby so I'm not buying a family season ticket as things are not so easy anymore.

haha nah i have been 2 every single home match but one (when it was pouring against wellington V3) since V2. and i mean i wouldn't buy one with the position that im in because i normally always get free tickets through family and friends who r sponsering the a-league or mariners :)

Radinho, im not singling you out but besides the teams poor form lately, thats another reason why our crowds have been down. Too many people on the coast and in businesses are just expecting to get free tickets to the game after the first three seasons of hundreds (maybe a thou or two) free tickets given away for each game.
Not many have stepped up and actually purchased tickets now that theyre not getting the free tickets they once depended on.
Kind of bugs me when people claim themselves as big supporters of the team and when they dont get their free ticket from their boss or company, they dont show.

Good point, easy to go when it costs you nothing.

Only going because its free and then claiming the right to whinge and complain seems odd when you arent a customer.

Like whining about the government when you dont vote really.

Well, most other HAL clubs have their 2009/10 info brochures out now...but we're still waiting? ???

I would like to think that something will be out within the next week, otherwise, with only 2 months to the season, building on the base before the start of the season will be difficult (however, IMO were going to struggle to retain current members). Yes - I'll be back in 2009/10

Having a look at the Victory packages for this season, WOW, talk about professional. They've launched a rewards and recognition program, very AFL-ish (CCM take note!)

In the 4 Hal seasons we have not had a bad year and I am innocent as all hell as before I read a couple of posts above I thought only a few tickets to parents of kids at half time were given away.

We will buy our tickets again and I feel at times like these when all around us appears to be going wrong that if we can at least buy our tickets and show some support it helps I am sure.

But I share a number of common concerns expressed on the site, chief among these would be for me as a fan.... is to understand the relationship we have with SU. AS I see it our recruitment policy for the ACL was often in talking to other teams in the SU partnership, the academy wants to model itself on the SU and it's Brazilian club. Moreover our recruitment policy with Travis coming and others during Hal 4 saying they would not come (Quinn).

I may be why off mark with this.. I hope the club will provide a document that clearly delineates the relationship. How if at all this includes player transfers, player  recruitment policy, style of play ... or simply money to build a motel on free land, next to river with its own club,  just off the F3 next to an industrial estate. Beyond this how much management time is being spent in the partnership with the building of the academy, speaking of which an announcement of when they expect the plans to be approved and construction to begin.

Small rant over but What is going on with the partnership and does it impact in any way with the running of the club.

There is no river of any significance next to the new development, however, you did neglect to mention the railway station.

As for the start of construction, I don't believe they've engaged the designers as yet, so I imagine they won't be getting Council approval in June as planned. Construction was planned to start in early January 2010 and that might happen, but only if they really pull their finger out now to get the designs moving.

+ 1 For the season ticket, yes the team has been playing like crap but unless you are a bandwagoner you stick by the team in good and bad times IMHO.
As for the added benefits season ticket vs membership, extras on top are just a bit of window dressing..no one buys just for the added extras.
