Chant for the next time we play Sydney?
instead of the "3-0 and you f**ked it up"
"1.4 and you f**ked it up"?

probably not but worth putting out there I guess

Let me kick of the rant about the poor attitude of the Sydney FC fans - WTF is the go with throwing bottles on the field - FMD that was poor

WHilst we are on it - back at Baker St carpark - 3 FC fans broke the windows in the mens toilets - talk about sore loosers

"Hey Bolton are you the sauce bottle in disguise?"

"Aloi$i - your part of something big now aren't you?"

BOLTON ARMY BOLTON ARMY - Chant of the night.

Also thanks to all the Sydney FC supporters who made Jets supporters look like well behaved schoolchildren - ok, well behaved anyay.  A fair chunk of those FC supporters were a deadset disgrace and more than the 20 or so deserved to get thrown out.

I will start on a good note what a great result. It is always good to win but to beat sydney is great  Aloisi is dead set waste of money, sydney done us a favour getting him. Now the bad side of the game, well the crowd sorry 1 d*ckhead in the Marinators who chucked a full bottle of sauce in the air it landed over my 2 year old son and myself and the people behind us. I sit in bay 17 all the time and love the songs the marinators sing i can even handle the beer getting chucked in the air but sauce you are a F**kwit who ever did this. My mariners Jersy with signatures on is f**ked thanks alot you idiot. We were all excited we scored the goal to win but sauce SHAME SHAME SHAME it came from the top of bay 16 which is normally idiot free.

We won, hurrah. Probably the slightly better team, and certainly for the first half, although Sydney started to play somewhat in the second half. We had a few nice passes here and there, but still IMO too many balls played over everyone's heads, and the crossing could have been a bit better - too often it fell short. Sydney were pretty bad though as a whole. Kosmina was amusing to watch though.  ;D

We were kinda gifted the first goal, but good that Dylan was there to poke home. Terrific shot from that Sydney player though :p I'd rather we didn't win in the last minute of normal time, but hey - a win is a win, and over Sydney too is great.

Pity that the penalty had to be retaken... but good grief - Aloi$i was looking like he thought himself the best thing since sliced bread, never mind that he screwed the first penalty.

Apparently, the penalty disllowed for offside for Sydney had actually been incorrectly called offside according to replays? Not sure and will have to look at a replay, but if that's the case I have to say thank goodness the linesman was consistantly bad. Again a below-par perfromance from the referees at best. :/

Vuko - bad give-away of a penalty, although he did save the first one, and was otherwise pretty solid I thought. WAY better then Bolton who play badly.
Bojic - quite good I thought, bar the fact he cost us a penalty save. And another yellow - I'm pretty sue he's now only one yellow away from a 2-game suspension. Too many yellows... downside to his otherwise high quality
Wilko - thought he did very well tonight actually. Better then usual...
Osman - well, he's better in the backs than the midfield. Better then before.
Porter - he played better in defence then usual, I thought. The odd mistake but better than some previous times, and had the odd decent cross as well.
Gumps - he did pretty well, and was running like mad as usual. Think the cheers from the crowd when his name was read out were warrented. Plus, a certain someone now has to eat their shirt, no? Or are there any more loopholes? -_- :p
Caceras - he was great with beating players and getting into space - that he did very well, but occassionally his final pass was off, and his shooting was woeful to say the least. If he at least got shots on target, judging by Bolty's display tonight we might have had a few more. Needs work on the shooting, but had some rather nice moments. Get the shots right and he'll be even better.
Hutch - better then some previous games as well, I thought - actually made a few attacking moves here and there. Improving...
Jedi - a well-taken penalty, and generally was great - nice defence, although again his passing a bit off his A-game.
Dylan - quite good - made headaches for the Sydney defence. Good poachers goal as well.
Sasho - he was off tonight, IMO. One of the weaker players we had. Not running as much as he had eariler in the season as well...

Simon was ok when he came on, but nothing more really IMO - although did some good time-wasting after we scored by keeping the ball :D Heffernan is back, and that's great news - he was a tad rusty but I'm feeling more confident about our left hand side now - and he'll offer some nice runs on the left as well.

But without a doubt, Mrdja was the man of the match with his fantastic contribution to the end of the game :p

Hurrah for the three points, and third spot for now! With Sydney below us, and Newcastle further down... wayyyyyy down... :D

Oh, and anyone notice what Santa during half time had said? 'Oh, hello Sydney FC fans, ho ho ho!' - he seemed to be more laughing at them then anything.  ;D He also must have seen the 'all we want for Christmas is 3 points' banner too... so cheers, Santa. :)

3 points, thats all that matters.

I felt we might pay for not putting them away in the 1st half and we nearly did.

Bolton and Aloisi should be dropped to NYL ASAP, awful.

Just got back. What an awesome night :eek:verhead:

On the balance of it, a well-earned win. Had Sydney got a point or more out of it, would have been a disgrace and a travesty of justice. I thought it was an improved Mariners performance compared to last week, and good to see Heffernan come back.

Bolton kept Sydney in it all night - it was only his kicking that was poor..... Reminded me of Danny last year ......

I disagree - not only was his kicking woeful, but he spilled a fair few simple balls as well - at least three that I can think of, and got caught out of position a few times, such as when Dylan headed the ball back into the centre in the first half after Bolton missed the ball... had a Mariners player been there it would have been 2-0.

He had a few good saves for them though and reacted well to stop his defender from scoring before Dylan poked it home, but IMO he was poor tonight overall. Eh, we won, that's the main thing.

Don't get me wrong - I don't rate him at all but he saved the deflection (that Dylan put in), Saved Sash and got a touch on the Gumps one.... He droped one and Dylan was offside, I think he kept them in it with those saves - if we had been 2 up at half time the game would have been over...

Yeah me and my girlfriend got hit with some of that sauce and whoever threw it is an idiot.

Great game though and I'm so stoked to see us with the win.  Can't wait to watch the replay tomorrow.

I too am very keen to see the game replay. Great result and not a bad effort, slightly untidy in passages though. Looked dangerous when passing and lost when resorting to the longer ball.

Have to agree - we looked great when we kept the ball on the ground and kept posession (even going backwards to retain it) .... should be a lesson to the guys that they can play a good passing game and in fact when they do be very dangerous....

This could make all the difference in the ACL. The ingredients, most of them, are there to make an impact in the competition- just tighten up the defence and it'll look better.

We've seen today how pathetic Sydney FC's commitment was, as it's been for much of the season. And Kossie's not a happy camper. Newcastle may let them get away with playing crap but the Mariners, with their never-say-die attitude and will to win, did not.

Best we played in a long time tonight and tho the score of 2-1 was no indication of the game.

Our midfielder of Hutch out left with move time so his first touch is not as critical was good, Grumpy on the right wow he had a great game tonight .... but Jedi & Caceras in the center well they owned it and that could win us the grand final.

Bojic is a much better central defender than an wide defender, boogs may find it hard to get back in.

We played the best I have seen in a long while and I think it was because we looked balanced across the center of the park and Dylan gets better each week and the way he can play with his back to goal gives us a great asset going forward overall very happy with the match.

Post script to the match we dropped into Macces at West Gosford for coffee on the way home and while we where having our coffee, Heff and his parents sat quietly down  and also had coffee and some young kids came up and Heff signed some things for them ... But we all commented on what a lovely thing it was a player not big noting himself just sitting quietly with his family .... comparing to RL players ....

Feel good tonight felt there is something special happening to the team.
