Round 15 - Mariners vs Smurfs FC

i relegated it to decent considering risk factor
I then conceded that it was the perfect place to hit (first I get bagged out for being stubborn and now for the opposite)
but to echo the words of Lawrie- too high for my liking (purely for risk factor)
i prefer a (gulp) totti style penalty- well hit just as good (if not better)- not as risky IMO

Kareem talks shit

fact

moving on, we won, against Sydney FC, in a crunch match for both of us

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

now, lets back it up with a win against the kiwis. If we contain Smeltz, we win. Simple

u say I talk shit?
lets quickly remember last time we play Wellington Away
they didnt score- i guess that suffices as containing Smeltz...
oh wait we didnt score either
good logic there ;)
heck I just realised we havent scored against the Phoenix this season even the 2nd game- only 2 games this season we have been goaless- who'd have thought?
I hope we r on our game next week!

Smeltz, 9 goals in 14 games this year

18 goals in 33 games in HAL

But na, its all good, lets not contain him yeah, not that good is he, really

you cant win unless u score goals
which we have done aginst every team on not 1 but 2 occasions this season except the Phoenix- both times
we cant take goals granted especially for some unknown reason against them this season ???
ofcourse if we give smeltz space we could score 2 goals and still end up losing 3-2 but containing him is only half the job at hand!
BTW- i rate Smeltz as no1 striker in the league- even ahead of Simon!

sorry bear, have to agree with kareem on this one

we have contained smeltz the last two games against welly but still didn't win

touch wood, but smeltz has never played well against us

You also get an emotional and moral victory when you come back from 3-0 to draw at SFS, even if you don't have three points to show for it.

Brett-wat bout M.Simon?

More discussion about this in the thread in Australia Football, but on Matt, I don't think he fits with the other players we have into Pim's 4-2-3-1 and Pim has said he'll go for more experienced players in front of 90,000 screaming Indonesians. Matt Simon definitely to come off the bench in that game as a 20-minute impact player.

Can't be too bitter, 'cause we won.  Although parts of the second half were a bit........ questionable.  Lawrie's tactics after we conceded failed badly.

We wouldn't be half the team we are without Mile, Dylan Mac, and Caceres.

Wilko was far better, good to see.  Even an attacking run here and there.

Hutch is a parody of his former half decent self, and a pale shadow of the player he was in parts of V3.  Anyone still believing that he is worth a starting spot in our team after the display that Gumprecht put on is kidding themselves.  _One_ proper attacking run all night, mixed in with a litany of weak side passes and weaker back passes??    Fark's sake, you cannot tell me that there's not a better option in our squad, especially for a position as important as attacking-midfielder-that-isn't-in-the-behind-striker-hole??

THERE WERE POSITIVES THOUGH!!!!

Macca is sensational.  I _almost_ don't mind the route one rubbish when he's up front to deal with it.  At least it's a viable option, not some hit and hope.

Those times we played the ball on the ground, short and sharp 10 - 15m passes, combined with options off the ball??  Sensational.  It tore Sydney's midfield (I use that term loosely, they were poor) apart, and it gave Caceres and Gumps a lot of time to do their thing.

Caceres, omg.  There's nothing more I can say.  Give this man 2 seconds on the ball and a spare metre of space and you're dead.  A first touch and skillz to die for.  Fap fap fap fap fap.......

Pedj!!!  PEDJ!!!!  What a gun.

So a definite improvement over the shambles of the last couple of weeks.  Now, to do it for 90 minutes.

Nah, like many others on here I went with the whole "if they can't be bothered to do post matches then I can't be bothered to do your picnic".  Besides, what would be worth chatting to him about??  I've met him a few times before...... he doesn't really have much to say.

And if you don't like what I have to say, don't read it.  ;)
