Jedinak- not the best distribution but decent penalty (almost went over) and good ball winning

Decent penalty? Nearly went over?

F**cking unstopable!

Yep - another Kareemism........

Was nowhere near going over
lol
take a look at it agin tomorro...
I liked the Adelaide one better
that said I imagine it probably was a bit higher than Kedinak aimed for (i dunno but is best not to 'go' for it with those penalties)

Umm - yep just did - and as Slater ans Hill said - one of the best taken penalties all season......would have been at least 2 feet under the bar plenty of room
never use slater to defend ur argument ;)
sure say 2 feet (which it was maybe a good 1 foot), say it was well practiced by jedinak etc.
but to use slater as part of your defence is not doing any favours- i dont mind diagreement but i just lol hard when u take slater's word so highly.
Hey I dont mind if a few others disagree with my jedinak comment- but surely no one on here thinks "because Slater said so" is a good argument???

My only criticism is our failure to kill them off when we were so dominant almost gave Sydney an undeserved point. Frankly they were awful. Petrovski, not renowned for his workrate, put in more effort and was more dangerous than Bridge, Brosque and Aloisi combined. For the second week running Porter looked like a defender and was terrific with his forward runs. Wilkinson has been playing well for weeks now and Bojic is just an aggressive energizer bunny. We now see why McAllister has such a low scoring ratio, he sure misses a few but otherwise was tremendous. And Gumprecht hasn't got the legs for 90 minutes. It was a walk in the park for Jedinak and Caceres which is why it was annoying we didn't make more of our superiority but the highlight for me was the return of Heffernan; He looked pretty solid and gives us genuine width on the left. We needed the win and we deserved it, now lets beat Wellington.

Beat the sheepshaggers, the scum and the Perth and that should just about get us into the finals.

Also, well done to Ossie, I cant remember him playing LB before and he did v well. Gets slagged a lot on here but is Mr Versatility himself.

I will start on a good note what a great result. It is always good to win but to beat sydney is great  Aloi$i is dead set waste of money, sydney done us a favour getting him. Now the bad side of the game, well the crowd sorry 1 d*ckhead in the Marinators who chucked a full bottle of sauce in the air it landed over my 2 year old son and myself and the people behind us. I sit in bay 17 all the time and love the songs the marinators sing i can even handle the beer getting chucked in the air but sauce you are a F**kwit who ever did this. My mariners Jersy with signatures on is f**ked thanks alot you idiot. We were all excited we scored the goal to win but sauce SHAME SHAME SHAME it came from the top of bay 16 which is normally idiot free.

I am at the back of bay 16 and at the end of the game someone threw some sort of sauce from BEHIND the bay, over the wall and AT the Marinators.

Assuming it was a SFC fan or some smartarse troublemaker on their way out.

You may be referring to a different incident, but this time I saw it come from behind the wall.

Twats throwing sauce need to be sorted out by the Marinators leadership - quickly. It's that kind of piss poor behaviour that's gonna keep people away from the Marinators.

Most ridiculous statement ever.

"Marinators Leadership"? How about Security?

Troublemakers throwing things AT the Marinators is NOT the responsibility of ANY paying customer.

How do we know the person who threw stuff (which, BTW, also hit some of the "Marinators Leadership") wasn't kicked out? There are security guards at the top, and they should have been watching the crowd as opposed to the game. Apart from it being their job, they had a better chance of seeing the culprit and ejecting them. (My guess is it was someone on their way out anyway).

Would you only be happy if it becomes an "incident" with several vigilantes imposing their own form of physical punishment for all to see?

While we are getting het up over sauce being chucked, our Blingy friends seem to have bigger issues to deal with. From their MB:

But some of the Sydney FC supporters at the game last night need to take a good hard look at themselves.
Yes we lost a game we needed to win, and yes we were crucified by the referee. But that does not excuse the throwing of bottles and debris that occurred from the moment the penalty was awarded onwards. Especially that half-full bottle was thrown onto the pitch while the game was still in progress - it came from well behind me, so I don't know who threw it, but that person should be banned from attending A-League matches for life.
When that Mariners fan with the flag came into our area at half time, was it really necessary for one of our supporters to get right in his face and abuse him like that?
Some of the aggression from some of our supporters was over the top. Someone wearing a Sydney FC shirt was spotted taking a swing at a cop, which fortunately didn't hit.
And with a large group of people with a lot of alcohol in their system, watched on by 100 police and security, the chant of "There's going to be a riot" wasn't a smart idea. How many children and families evacuated the stadium in fear of their safety at that point? It wasn't a good look, it was downright ugly, and reflects badly on our club

Interesting in that the police/security overkill seems to rank this as a higher risk game than the scum. Maybe I missed it but the general atmos seemed pretty good last night.

couldn't make it to the game as the train terminated at f**king hornsby after an hour of waiting due to a police operation at f**king cowan

Heh bozza was there and said it was a bomb scare or somesuch, cos he missed the first 20mins of the match.

He should have been playing on the pitch Danny is not ready and takes to many chanches we will need Bozza for Asia sign him before January and he leaves us he should be playing and Danny on the bench watching how its done.

I wonder where did he get a cab to the game from and was he with a Sydney Supporters or CCM??

On my way out of the carpark last night there were all these sydney supporters trying to sell off aloisi for $2 bucks..

it was quite funny.

But we all know he isnt worth 2 bucks

I just saw a slow motion replay on Aloisi's first pen attempt. Yes there was encroachment but interestingly Pedj wasn't the first guy to step into the box. A Mariner on the Eastern side beat him in. It looked like Mile to me.

Interesting... but pointless  ;)

Umm ok where did I say because Slater stated so. The guys a TWAT but what I said was EVEN Slater et al agreed. As a keeper the easiest penalty to save are the low hit ones. Your statement was it almost went over - it hit the roof of the net near the back - so if you work out trajectory etc then it was no where near over..... Its al relative - what one thinks is almost over others don't....

I was disappointed to notice that Bozza was sitting behind the Sydney bench with their Youth League and with their injured players like Colosimo.

I know that Boz is training with Sydney to keep fit but I felt disappointed to see him there to say the least. Nevertheless, if he were to sign with us for Asia, I'd welcome him back with open arms.

The most satisfying aspect of the night for me was the reception the Western Grandstand gave Aloi$$i as he was scurrying into the tunnel. Arrogant prick. "What a waste of money" has never been a more apt chant.

Watched the replay and we were great in the 1st half and did our usual trick of dropping deep once we went ahead and nearly paid the price.

Sydneys penalty, absolutely. There was encroachment so the ref correctly applied the rules. Danny had the shits with Pedj(?) and rightly so.

The penalty they had denied was another example of the piss poor AR's in the comp. Dead set penalty and wasnt offside. A lucky break for us thank goodness.

Fyfe arguing about giving away our pen - WTF? Bridge's tackle at the end maybe could have been a red, but didnt he back down from Hutcho - scum wanker.

As for us, I thought we looked better balanced when Heff came on and Hutcho's game improved immediately. Maybe he is more confident with Heff behind him or there is a better understanding but LM with Heff at LB really works for us.

Pitch was a disgrace again. This is now a football ground that allows RL to play the odd game. There is no excuse for the state of the pitch and Singo needs to invest some $$ or actually let us buy the rights and we can do it properly.

What is it with the black flags in the Marinators? If they werent black they were the darkest navy blue I've ever seen.

For unofficial fabric flags I think they match the jersey colours pretty well. And IMO that's what we should be trying to do with all supporters' wear, scarves, flags, banners, etc.

If you ask me I reckon the more electric or royal blue of some of the old merch and home-made banners looks crap by comparison.

That's often been one of our weak points, IMO.  Could be one of the downsides to our 'no wankers' policy - that we don't have anybody who's so arrogant that they got off on dominating the other team, hence keep kicking them while they're down.

Games like this make me wish I still lived in Gosford - sounds like it was an absolute thriller.

What was the crowd like?

Also, how far did Bojic encroach, just out of curiosity?  Frustrating to have a penalty taken when I'm sure anybody who plays knows what a widely ignored law it is :p

Was bojic the one who cleared it out after the save?  I couldn't see shit on the ultra low res version of the Fox sports highlights I downloaded to my phone :p

I might see if I can download the match anywhere....

Glad to see Heff come on, how'd he go?

marinermick

Well-Known Member
bojic was the one clearing the ball and he encroached by about two metres right in front of the ref

no arguments about the retake

crowd was 11200 and just watching the replay you could hear the marinators just as much as the cove

cove only started going after they got the goal

FFC Mariner

Well-Known Member
11,200 was disappointing really.

The Cove had their usual numbers and it is our support that is down.

I know there were lots of Christmas do's etc but I wonder if the tougher economic conditions are starting to hurt families? As a family oriented club, we are going to cop that pretty hard.

TBH, I dont know if there is too much the club can do. 7pm, nice weather, game against our local rivals. If that doesnt get people out, its not lack of interest, its lack of $$.

Fox viewing figures are up which might confirm it?
