From 4-4-2:

"Victory defender Rody Vargas added that Melbourne had allowed the Mariners to bully them like schoolboys, comparing it to a fight between year 12 and year 10 students.

But McKinna believed focusing on his side's work ethic or physicality undersold their football nous.

"I don't think we can outmuscle them, maybe out-thought, maybe he meant intelligence-wise we were two years smarter than them," he quipped of Vargas' assessment."

Gold. Absolute gold! Lawrie easily winning the war of words as well!

  :eek:verhead:   :vhappy:
BAHAHAHAHAHA we beat them again, this time not on the field lol

Back from Tardistan.

Wow, just f**king wow. Of all the away trips to miss, you guys missed it.

I think the defensive work is down to Doig. Interesting to see him working with the team in the warm up and sitting on the bench. Whilst he ignored the fans (again), if he can do this to our defence, I can put up with him ignoring us.

About 40 odd in the away bay - mainly mutes sadly.

My take not having seen the replay of the game:

Danny - 8, did what he had to and 1 great save 1st half
Porter - 9, top effort, ran himself ragged and turned 30/70's into 60/40's his way.
Wilko - 9, best game for years. Awesome
Boogs - 7, lack of pace at CB caught him out a few times
Heff - 9 - Back to his very, very best
Travis - 10, MoM for mine, some of his skill and footwork is breath taking. If he was Dutch or Brazillian, Foster would be creaming himself
Hutch - 10 too, CM is his position and he should stay there
Pedj - 8, worked his ring off, passing is a bit ordinary sometimes tho
Lewis - 8, Fantastic debut, not over awed and doesnt play that well for the yoof. Deserved a goal for the volley
Matty - 10, Was battered by Musc**t and kept coming back for more till he ground him down
Kwas - 147, for the goal and work rate

MoM
Travis 3
Kwas 2
Wilko 1

Funniest moments?

Lawrie ripping Nik a new one a few minutes after he came on (he was shite sadly). He stood up and just tore into him.

S End taking the piss out of Moss (v nasty, worse than any CCM player has ever heard from us)

S End singing "4-0 and you still wont sing" followed by about the only chant of the night "4-0 to the Mariners"

Players werent looking to come over until Lawrie made them. We have to find a way to fix this. Danny, Heff, Wilko, Porter,Kwas & Matty were great, rest of them really werent too bothered.

Plenty of pix for FB later

Word is Doig picked up a torn thigh muscle the day before the game. Likely to be 4-6 weeks.

Also, Elrich's Uncle and best mates Dad died in a car accident on Friday, not long before he was called up to fly to Melbourne to replace Doig. Great performance considering.

Condolences to the Elrich family. I thought he looked sharper last night than he has for a while.

Between him Heff and Lewis, we owned the left hand side

Simply outstanding.

A very important win for us.

Beat Fury and with our home game run in... we are going to really challenge this year.

Get excited people. Look at our depth and the quality of some of our wins.
8 goals in 14 games shipped?
Get very excited!

Time to talk to all your friends and start doing what we can to build teh crowds for the rest of the season.

On the game/team

I literally scream with joy at our defensive shape these days. Just Brilliant.

We owned them, bossed the midfield... yet they were the more thuggish, and we looked the more inventive and creative with our play - much better fluidity and then you add our defence...

4 zip.

Tard forum is a hilarious read, and Midfielder popping up suddenly in the midst of all their pain with a full listing of how well he thought each of our players did was just f**king hilarious - absolutely ROFL.

And still the Wankers whine about us playing boring football, how conceited and blind can you be. We played 10 times as much attacking football as they did. Laughable.
:piralaugh:

They're also lucky it wasn't more than 4... but hey go on blaming Moss for all your woes. LOL. Just ridiculous, not a great game, but certainly no worse than anyone else except for Kemp on the park for them. Moss is quality.

Ahhhh why do we always have to blame...

So... someone asked who won money?

I'm loving this fixture this year ;D

My MOM are pretty much as FFC's-

Travis - when he runs at players provides the crucial link form our mids to the frontline and creates space for our forwards. Outstanding.

Kwas - Fantastic finish again - what's that 2 goals in four games upfront? Great return Kwas. KUTGW Also worked his guts out.

Finally Heff shaded Wilko for the lone point for me - tipped it with his goal. Fanatstic game in what was a terrific performance all over the park.

Congratulations to Mathew Lewis, excellent debut.

As to Niks goal, tap in or not, you have to be in the right spot and I can't help but think if that that was Adelaide somehow Travis Dodd would still have missed it this season.

The droughts over Nik - let the flood commence.
But Kwas has earned the starting spot.

Also to those who know who they are...

Please feel free to visit the "LAWRIE IN" thread to express your gratitude. ;)

Or alternatively you can just bide your time for the next opportunity to have a whine about our coach while he moves us towards yet another finals.
:piano:

Honestly who would you rather have that is currently coaching in this league?

Defensively we were superb and Tobin deserves massive kudos for the turn around in discipline and organisation this year.

. maybe a case of 1+1=4?

. it sure as shit wasn't working too well at the start of the year, but something is working now ... and i also think danny's HUGE return to form this season is a big factor ... were ya watchin' pimmy?

. thanks for the link to the melbourne forum ... i've never been on another clubs forum before but that was entertaining

. they are 'oh so superior' down there

. and if i was to throw out some generalisations by the greater football public ... most attacking/entertaining teams: gold coast, brisbane & melbourne. so what have our worlds most boring/defensive team achieved recently:

outplayed gcu 3-0
outplayed br 3-0
outplayed mv 4-0

. got to love this defensive, boring, long ball bullshit. those classy, attacking and entertaining sides ... meh!

Still in Tardistan, and still soaking up a amazing performance from a under strength side side.
Danny V looks to be getting the confidence back, when called upon quality saves.
The defence..8 goals in 14 game, the great wall of Central Coast simply amazing.
Kwas with a freakish strike, and then to see the team go on with the attacking rather than just sit on a one goal lead very pleasing.

I could watch Kwasaldinho's goal all night.....'twas a ting of beauty, 'twere.

Nice to see us with a comprehensive victory; after the early goal I expected us to sit back and throw it away!

You might be right there. It might make him think twice about the direction of his life and not let his career waste away.

WTF are you sure you were at the game FFC

Yes, was apparent in the 1st half the Porter needed to come across and cover a few times.
