Wowwww f**king awesome.

Danny - some brilliant saves, really kept us in it at 1-0. Gives confidence to the whole backline.

Wilko - composed and solid, great job.

Travis - MoM, awesome positive forward runs.

Lewis - brilliant starting debut. Kept the ball well, fast, runs at players and not affraid to shot. Very impressed.

Matty - settled down, did the basics right and had a great game. Touch improved out of sight.

Kwaz - typical Kwaz goal, f**king brilliant.

Elrich - looked good off the bench and hungry.

I still feel like I'm going to wake up and it's Saturday morning with the game yet to come....

Wee Matt was fkn incredible

Danny made some incredible saves

We were definitely dangerous in attack - we had numbers, and we approached the goal differently every time.

And I may be going out on a limb here, but Archie Thompson is absolute shite.

the ONLY thing he does is fall over.  Seriously.

Maybe I'm biased because I rarely get to watch HAL games from other teams, but against us he is deadset useless.  Inside turn, inside turn, fall.  Inside turn, inside turn, fall.  It's a well rehearsed routine from the pathetic little cheat.

I have to laugh at Matty Simon turning into our enforcer, though I was worried that Muscat would push him a bit too far and he'd get sent off.

Absolutey unreal, and overall I do think we were clearly the better team.

Who was our Number 25?

At long last, something I've been waiting for all season, our strikers scoring more than our defenders in a match!
AND more than one striker scoring.

Tho Lewis had a very solid first game... had a great shot .. has speed is a leftie ... will be pushing now for a first place spot..

I am not a big Hutch fan .. but he played with heaps of guts tonight and weeMac has taught Hutch and the team well ... as I tho Hutch was cool under pressure in the center of the park and played a great game.

The truth is that Vukovic made only three saves, Melbourne hardly had any shots (certainly the Mariners had far more than them) but his third save was the turning point as Simon scored two minutes later. Probably the best I have seen the Mariners play and please don't tell me that Melbourne were poor, they were simply outplayed. Archie "please pick me, Pym" didn't have a shot.
Vukovic - quite magnificent;
Porter - outstanding
Boogard - apparently calling Adelaide to say he has changed his mind
Wilkinson - quietly, deadly efficient
Heffernan - probably his most disciplined defensive display and a nice goal too
Travis - lit the spark that gave the team belief
Bojic - supeb, was everywhere
Hutchinson - Pym has called FIFA to see if can cancel his Malta credentials
Lewis - super. composed debut; what a volley to force the save from Moss
Kwasaldinho - there is only one and he is ours
Simon - bashed to piecs by Melbourne thugs but took it all and deserved his goal
Mrdja - see, he doesn't only score in a brothel...
Clark, Elrich - played their part in a great team victory.

Priceless - Merrick's sour face when McKinna shook his hand

The defence was magnificent, the midfield defiant, fluent and potent - quite fanastic and up front we never stopped running. This was the sort of performance that makes you believe we can actually win the whole thing. And will McGlinchey or Doig get their places back against NQF - on this form they should be on the bench.

Very proud tonight to be a Mariners supporter. Thank you Lawrie and everyone involved.

good post .. well said

. elrich? i can't remember the number but he didn't have a name on his shirt ... or was that a rhetorical question with a hat tipped to his previous form?

. that's because he had his balls wedged up in there for most of the game

. gotta feel sorry for him, lucky he has a bub now. i honestly couldn't watch the replays ... (after the fifth or sixth time)

. i had a feeling after hearing in the pre-match that both doig and the wee-man were out that the guys were really going to step up. its amazing what this sort of thing can do ... especially for our boys
