Judging from the last 20 mins that I saw and listened to, Melbourne was pretty poor. Was it like that during the whole match? Or were the Mariners just that much better than Melbourne?

Melbourne weren't bad until the end. Mariners frustrated the hell out of them with brilliant closing down and commitment. We didn't sit back, our defence was rock solid, and Danny made about 30,00 great saves. I don't think I have ever been happier in my entire LIFE.

The truth is that Vukovic made only three saves, Melbourne hardly had any shots (certainly the Mariners had far more than them) but his third save was the turning point as Simon scored two minutes later. Probably the best I have seen the Mariners play and please don't tell me that Melbourne were poor, they were simply outplayed. Archie "please pick me, Pym" didn't have a shot.
Vukovic - quite magnificent;
Porter - outstanding
Boogard - apparently calling Adelaide to say he has changed his mind
Wilkinson - quietly, deadly efficient
Heffernan - probably his most disciplined defensive display and a nice goal too
Travis - lit the spark that gave the team belief
Bojic - supeb, was everywhere
Hutchinson - Pym has called FIFA to see if can cancel his Malta credentials
Lewis - super. composed debut; what a volley to force the save from Moss
Kwasaldinho - there is only one and he is ours
Simon - bashed to piecs by Melbourne thugs but took it all and deserved his goal
Mrdja - see, he doesn't only score in a brothel...
Clark, Elrich - played their part in a great team victory.

The defence was magnificent, the midfield defiant, fluent and potent - quite fanastic and up front we never stopped running. This was the sort of performance that makes you believe we can actually win the whole thing. And will McGlinchey or Doig get their places back against NQF - on this form they should be on the bench.

Very proud tonight to be a Mariners supporter. Thank you Lawrie and everyone involved.
