ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Round 14 v Tards

Does anyone think a shame the name "Muscat" is more commonly associated here with Kevin Muscat rather than Muscat grapes (yummy wines) and Muscat, capital of the Sultanate of Oman?

Just putting it out htere, beating tards >> Beating Sydney

how do you figure that?

I love beating the tards. Melbourne are so up themselves about EVERYTHING. Getting two over them is a wonderful thing :)

That pretty much sums it up.
but who here wouldnt trade it for the Scum?
I mean the only thing better about killing the Tards is that the rest of the league has taken notice of us (well more so than usual)

Quality strike* from Kwassie- still unconvinced. But I will admit I dunno if anyone else in the league could pull it off. He is definately unique

You arent convinced about someone you describe as quality and admit that his finish was beyond the abilities of most strikers in the HAL?

Tough marker
I meant quality strike- sorry!
And the ability to score a jaw-dropping goal is not all that particularly useful if you arent playing well/scoring regularly
I rate most a-league starting strikers ahead of him
I dont think even AT could score a goal...but i still rate him above Kwassie (regardless of fact he is overrated by most).
So to clarify- atm I am still unconvinced regarding whether he should be more than a squad player...(key word atm...if he can be consistent until finals- who knows)

On the 4-3-3...I love a good 4-3-3 (next to my fav the 4-2-3-1)
I generally prefer it to a 4-4-2...however just not a realistic option- would defitnaely prefer our 4-4-2 to a 4-3-3-
especially when you consider that IMO 4 mids ISNT enough for our squad
Who should the 3 mids be? Hutch, Crowell, Bojic, travis, McGlinch?
Those are the 5 fighting for 4 spots (leaving players such as Porter, Huke not even a chance to start).

Never thought I would say this but Central Coast really saved my weekend sports-wise. Sydney lost, Manchester United lost. Tards getting smashed 4-0 on their home turf saved it though. I just wish we were the ones to do the 4-0 to be honest.

For me, as long as we are not loosing/drawing games because of him, you could not possibly drop him as when he does get it right, you will win games because of him.

One of the moments of the game came just after half time when Brad Porter absolutely smashed Archie Thompson on the halfway line with a fair challenge.

Over the past few years Thompson has absolutely terrorised Porter and has found plenty of space and goals against him.

Not on Saturday night. Porter was sensational in keeping his channel tight. He was also good going forward and providing support in attack.

Possibly my favourite moment of the night! Then Archie rolling around and having a massive sook after it.

Haven't been able to find a replay of it though :(

My fav moment was the mazy run and shot by Nicky Travis. Just love it when he goes off on an attacking run.

Voted FoxSport Solo Goal of theWeek. Rightly so.

A report now on BOTN from a Victorian writer, no less:

http://spirit.webcity.com.au/AFN/2009-2010/R14/R14-MVvsCC.htm

I was in a motel in Wodonga screaming at every goal - what the neighbours thought I care not! Wooot!!!!

:pirashoot:

Very good report that. Good writing, accurate and without bias.

I question the various comments around that we were the more physical side. Sure, we matched the Tards, but they were no shrinking violets.

Who kicked who in the balls? Who elbowed who in the head and was lucky not to get at least a booking?

Anyone who says we are physical, and yet has Musc**t in their side is blind in both eyes.
On that score, the stats say Melb committed more fouls than we did, 19 to 16.

currently if we are running 2 strikers he is definately the 2nd striker (a no brainer)
...and obviously we are recuriting more players next year.
But where as any midfielders probs will be squad players (if we keep our current players)- I am pretty sure most of us would be (or at least should be) hoping for someone to replace Kwasnik as Simon's partner.
Hence I am not convinced! Make sense? Maybe that will change...maybe he cans how he deserves to be starting 11 V6 (i doubt it)
