Never seen so many falling over. Rip it up asap.

Its been like that for a while, but its playing well and opposition teams are struggling on it. It looks like it has about 2 inches of soft turf on a really hard base and when they try to put much weight into a change of direction they go over. Is good for the smaller fleet footed type although Doig didn't slip much.

wasn't as bad as i thought on sunday. But still rips up easy!

How so?

The trip/slip counts was at least equal to the last match we played. You can only hope it was down to the rain, but certainly seemed to be too many divets flying around for that to be the excuse

Do you mean Sydney or home Jesus?

Was raining before an then in patches during the game... So bound to slip really.
BUT... on the good news front.
It was getting some treatment today, nothing major like relaying, but rolled the whole thing with some substance or another in a quantity they don't usually do.

Update - today the pitch looks like the beach.
They have covered and rolled the whole pitch with sand.
Reasons of next game change to Canberra, now look to be true.

It was suggested to me that the major problem with the pitch is the sand used underneath is too fine. Hence it does not allow the water to move so much. But throwing sand over the top is not a long term fix. Only a complete relay would fix that problem. It may help though, though may have to be done more than once?

At home.

But most players on the coast will play on rainy pitches through the season at some stage. You dont see much or a slip issue. More the other way with the ground getting too bogged down. But on the better pitches neither seem to be issues. Unless you slide tackles then you get a few more feet in your slide and a bit more pace :p

Report: (Warning - the following report is highly technical and may be hard to follow.)

Ok, first we covered the whole field with something whitish....
Then a day later we covered it all with sand...
then two days later and they've started to rip up a large square near the tunnel...

Think we must be going to re turf completely. Would be good news.  ;D
But I did think that last year and they just did a strip down the middle.
This would be disappointing news...  :(

Progress may be hindered by the fact that all the work looks to be being done by just two workers. And was only one of them was on the wheel barrow shoveling the ripped up pitch away... dats a lotta dirt and grass for one guy

Stay tuned for more detailed pitch reports when advancements are made! ;)

Well then your gonna love the latest!

News flash!

Two smaller squares have now also been ripped up just near the southern goals.
Unfortunately unless its going to be a giant chess board I have no idea what they are actually doing!

So stay tuned for the next gripping installment of...
"Watching the grass grow" (and then ripping it up again)

NEWS FLASH!

The two little squares and one large square have now been been laid with yellow grass
- which is currently being watered. Clearly the other 90% of the pitch is soon to be dyed blue.

STAY TUNED!

lol.
Hell no!
Just got back from my walk by inspection with the dogs ;D

And the big scoop is...

That today they have been watering the pitch!!!
Extensively, at least a good 6 hours worth!

Clearly they're now desperate to transform the two tiny and one biggish square, into someting that remotely resembles the now green and pristine looking rest of the pitch, and not the current bright yellow/brown.

Inside reports state this may be largely so that no one can see just how little of the pitch Council were willing to fork for to re turf.

Gripping yes ;)
