ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

oh but it's fun.

could be quite cheap too. i'd be surprised if it weren't part of the club's long term plans to have their own ground to manage for themselves and not have to worry. if it were fully owned it could be the home of CC football from mariners down to community football and even spin a buck or two. it's surely got similar money making potential to a hotel at tuggerah, for a similar spend.

lol @ forcing 4166 CCM supporters to stand

you'd build it so that there were seats that fold down rather than that style of thing, but in the end if you wanted to sell 15k tickets and fans could get onto the end stands for $10 or so, they'd stand. hell - look at places like kogarah oval. had about 10k standing every home game this year, and that's rugby league!

I'd go along with a new stadium.... as long as they train the bar staff to pour beers properly ;)

Holds 4166 standing and 7500 seated, plus 400 corporates etc. 12066. We've had maybe 10 games over that in 4 and a bit years.

In all honesty you would be better off doing a 3 sided stadium again with land set aside on the spare long end (well in the interim build a media centre on it and maybe put the sheds and dugouts there), have the long main stand to the north, home supporters end at the west and give the away supporters the shitty east end with a separate gate to enter and exit though. Then when you look to expand you've got a whole long edge to play with to increase capacity.

roofed to the pitch is a must though.

Half that number actually....the other half for away fans.

I reckon the standing home end would soon take off amongst the football youth of the coast and perhaps a few old timers used to standing at the football.

Even if there was only 1-1,500 in the home end, with a roof like that we'd make a decent noise.

Yeah, I always thought it was a ridiculous dream to think the Mariners could ever consider having their own stadium, but if you can afford a 5K stadium, how much extra would another 5-6k of seats cost, then you save on "rent" (or whatever the costs of hosting a match at a half-empty BT are), and can get a greater share of gate takings, food & beverages... even make more money through Club Mariners before & after every match.

Obviously the investors and board (who are actually experts on these things) must have considered this idea, but to me it doesn't actually seem completely ludicrous any more.

I applaud many of the reasonings, but surely they are still thinking bigger...
10k is not a big ask for a crowd right now... and they want to continue building on the support... not say we are pretty much at peak capacity now so lets build our own 10k stadia.

They've already proved they can nearly fill the place just with coasties, so a 10k stadium with another derby team coming into the comp doesn't make that much sense to me... which is why I think they are talking of a 5k and not 10 or more.

Bluey's central location, proximity to the railway, and picturesque setting also stand strongly in its favour.

They've been working hard on the pitch by the way...
Looks pretty good considering its just copped twenty odd games of eggball.
Which tells you how good it was looking prior to last week and any supposed "fixing"

+1

Soul less concrete bowl built for a game where the crowd simply watches without getting involved.

too open so atmosphere is hard to generate.

again

Could be a team tactic; send the eggball codes onto the pitch the week before to chop it up before Gold Coast arrive.
