Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Whilst it seems that the club have been less than honest about whoring themselves out, the real concern is why they feel they need to lie?

If, as Bear says, they came out and told the truth about snapping the ACT's hand off for the $$, most reasonable people would understand.

The issue I have is why do they believe they cant trust the fans and be open with their customers. Very bad business practice to lie to your customers.

/end rant

+1

Whilst there may have been some frowny faces about the whoring out, it would have been a _lot less_ frowned upon if they were honest.  Is it really that hard??

I had a great night in Canberra last week.......can't wait for Adelaide

What people need to remember is if we could get 12-15,000 to a home game the club would never have to consider moving a home game in the first place, members didn't have to pay for the game in their season ticket and these discussions are getting very repetitive.  The club are making decisions to ensure we survive for a long time, I can't argue with that.  Some people think that's wrong and that's fine, but tell the club your feelings.

As much as moving the game is annoying I support the 11 players giving their all for the team I support, so I'll follow them whenever/wherever I can!

Everyone is entitled to an opinion though.

I had a great night at pulse, but you dont hear me telling everyone that

Get over it... Never under it.

I agree with Bear.
I like honesty.

I didn't come on here saying F the club this or I'll withdraw my support, and I doubt I ever would. But as a fan and member yeah I am f**king interested in knowing why 2 of our designated home matches are being played in another state if the reasons given to me by my club have clearly not been accurate.

Re upcoming works... right ok sure... i'll keep an eye out then.
BUT there had been NOTHING done that required moving the previous game to Canberra for. If it was scheduled it was canned. If you believe otherwise your misinformed or I simply don't know why you'd believe this is the case? I look over the pitch many times EVERY SINGLE DAY.

On the Union today... pitch held up quite well all considered, groundsmen were straight onto it afterwards... so hopefully it'll be in a good state for the GCU game... Though actually shit, that was an excellent point about re using the Jest tactics and serving up a cow paddock...

Dru it was not ripping up or causing players to slide all over the place today at all.
Must have been all the clandestine night works they've been doing.
;)

They can't have moved it for the money as according to a number of people I have spoken to in Canberra they did not promote the game very well.  They are all football heads and none of them knew anything about the game till the Friday morning when there was an interview with someone from the mariners on the radio.

. if everybody knows what the 'real' story is anyway what is the big problem?

. it is possible that the fan base has been evaluated and grouped into the following broad categories:
.. the i'll go to the 'big' games or if i can fit it into my busy social calendar fan
.. the i'll pay my membership and go to all the home games at the 'tongue fans who may even consider that a couple of less games is all-the-better because it lowers my membership cost but leaves me good reason to keep the fox subscription and
.. the i am super passionate and will pay to see as many games at the 'tongue as possible fan

. dare i say that the super passionate fans are in the minority but can probably be sub-categorised as follows:
.. i'll support the club regardless and will nonchalantly believe their press or enjoy the fact that in the current economic climate i get to see as many games as before and it costs no more
.. i'll accept what they are doing even though i think they have not employed full disclosure
.. i'd happily accept the decision if they gave us the real reason - but in reality it is easy to take this stance after the fact
.. i don't care what they say or do, it was simply the wrong thing to do

. and dare i say it that the last two sub-categories are also in the minority

. so realistically by playing things the way they have, most fans probably haven't even given it a second thought but if the club were to 'fess up ... there may well be a whole majority of fans jacking up in protest. but instead it seems all they have to worry about is a couple of dozen of the hard core whinging on the forum knowing full well that these are the least likely bunch to negatively effect their cashflows

. as a business what they have done probably is the right thing to do

. has anybody actually asked the club what the 'real' reason is? i don't think the club has lied ... but perhaps have not been fully forthcoming with the entire picture and i don't think they really need to

. btw 4 home games in 15 rounds (two at 3pm) could be the death of me

Not true. My brother lives in Canberra and he knew about the game weeks in advance. There was information at his local club and the Canberra Times had stories weeks in advance. I was there the day before and there was a large article in the paper and a four page lift-out on the Friday.

Agree with Mick. Anyone that calls themself a football 'head' and didn't know about the game, is either lying about being a fan or live with their heads up their backsides. Judging on the average young fan, I'd pick the second option.
