Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Merry f**king Christmas Jedi...

Nah.

Good for him. Shit for us :(

The one positive outcome of this? Craig will never have to hear "Jedi, use the force" again....

Firstly, we need a decent song to send him off with

No doubt "Use the Force" will get a few runs, but if it MUST be something simple to get everyone involved, I personally prefer "He's big, He's hard, He scores from 30 yards".

Agree, a "decent song" would be better than any chant. But unless someone can post one today and we give it a good run at Newcastle tonight, the repertoire will be limited to the 2 above IMO.

The force song is just utter wank (ever wondered why it dies after about 30 secs?)

A simple "we love you mile" would work better as everyone knows it

Like ur suggestion though

A very serious loss, almost irreplaceable. One of the few truly influential players in the A League, always sought to impose himself on the game. Great defender, excellent attacker. Great attitude, never complained,  just got on with the job. Can't see us winning anything this year. We were rumoured to be after Jacob Burns...maybe on loan this year? Time for "tough as teak" Brad Porter to step up :)

Good luck Mile. Thanks for the memories.

Lawrie and Lyall have a good record of finding players and I've no doubt that they will come up with the goods again. Mile is a huge loss but this club of ours has the habit of progressing and building at every opportunity.

If it was the rumoured $820k, then we got ripped. he is easily worth more than that.

Dichotomy to the max on this one. Happy that he's been rewarded for his outstanding form, work ethic by being scouted and finally signed to an overseas club.

However the Mariners invested in him with a longer contract with views to the Mariners future, that being the ACL and beyond. I think he still had at least one year left on a 2 year deal. The club could have done a deal with this Turkey club giving them the right to sign him after the completion of the Mariners efforts in the ACL. Upgraded Miles salary during this campaign, by 100/200k which could be easily structured/recouped from the transfer fee.

This would have been a win/win situation for both Mile and the Mariners. After the ACL Mile could have been worth up anything between $2-4million to an overseas club, more transfer fee for the club and Mile gets the bargaining power for a much larger salary at the new club.

Now we have to take that $820k and find an equivalent if not better DM replacement. Now theres NOBODY in Australia who'd even come close, let alone another HAL teams DM chance of switching clubs so that means we have to go overseas and that means spending more money for 'hopefully' someone who can do what Mile did for us, ooh....and he was doing it for around $80-100k i'm guessing, add on the the other $100-200k that i mentioned to bump his salary to keep him for ACL and it's starting to look like we will need to spend in excess of $500k to find an equivalent for him imo, BECAUSE HE'S JUST THAT FCUKING GOOD!

Good Luck Jeddi, will support you wherever you play.

Finding a replacement will be very difficult, but is it impossible? Certainly in this league, hence the club may have to scout overseas for a replacement and start doing so now.

I suspect they did and do

So do I, I think this transfer would not have happened so quickly if Lawrie and Co. did not have a suitable replacement lined up.

We'll miss you Jedi. Score a hattrick tonight, it's your last derby.

Agree, I'm hopeful that they have something up their sleeves and are just waiting for the Jan international transfer window to make an announcement. ....please? :-\

disappointing that he has been snaped up but think this will bring a big crowd in on his last game (new years eve) but i dont think we could hav expected to keep him much longer as he is a quality player with a socceroos cap already.

Not saying we will get Keiff but the fact he's been recalled in interesting - why recall him if they aren't gonna use him or send him elsewhere.......
