I think we should consider ourselves lucky if Jedi doesn't move during the January transfer window. If he get's an opportunity to move to a decent Euopean league (and I stress a decent European league, not Scandanavia or an equivalent) I wouldn't blame him one bit if he left.

The ACL is huge to us but not a patch on him furthering his career in Europe.

The Scandanavian leagues begin in late January. If he moves in the next few weeks it might be to there.

A situation nobody considering is Genclerbirligi getting relegated. If they are the only club showing interest, Mile would not want to play in the Turkish Second Division.

I have the feeling he will be off the Genclerbirligi and will get over there as soon as possible, therefore not staying around for the ACL

Assuming its true, would expect Hutcho to drop back to DM?

Or if Boogs was fit, maybe Pedj could do it.

Given his sacrifice and determination to get a HAL contract, I'm personally really happy for the guy. hope he does bloody well and who knows, he might be back some day.

Will need to give him a big send off NYE.

(wonder if he will do the badge thing if he scores?)

Turkish delight for outstanding Jedinak

Standout Central Coast Mariners midfielder Mile Jedinak has been rewarded for his outstanding domestic form with an undisclosed transfer to Turkish Sper Lig challengers Genlerbirliği for two and a half seasons.

Genlerbirliği are one of Turkeys most progressive clubs and is currently home to Jedinaks Qantas Socceroos team-mates Bruce Djite and James Troisi, and is also the former club of Australian internationals Nick Carle and Josip Skoko.

Other Australians playing in Turkeys top flight at present include Qantas Socceroo lynchpin and Australian football icon Harry Kewell, who represents Galatasaray, and veteran goalkeeper Michael Petkovic, who is a regular starter with Sivasspor.

Jedinak will complete the calendar year in Mariners colours and will have a final opportunity to farewell Mariners Members and supporters at Bluetongue Stadium when the yellow and navy host the Perth Glory on New Years Eve.

"While of course disappointed to be losing such an outstanding talent, we are equally delighted to see Mile provided with an opportunity to further his professional ambitions at a very high level," said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

"This is the best example yet of a player coming to the Mariners, taking his opportunity in the Hyundai A-League, using his domestic form to put his name forward for Qantas Socceroos selection and thus, providing a platform to advance his career to the next level.

"As we have always maintained at the Mariners, we will never stand in the way of the professional ambitions of any player and, indeed, will do all that we can to encourage and facilitate ones professional development.

"During his time at the Mariners, Mile has been simply integral to all of our successes and although he will be sorely missed, we wish him all the very best with this next chapter of his life and his career."

Jedinak is set to make his 50th competitive appearance for the Mariners at EnergyAustralia Stadium on Boxing Day a fitting milestone for a player that has been among the best to ever pull on a yellow and navy shirt.

EnergyAustralia Stadium was the venue for Jedinaks Hyundai A-League debut towards the end of the Hyundai A-League 2006/07 season and since that day, Jedinak has been a permanent fixture in the Mariners line up whenever fit and available for selection.

Capped three times by his country at senior level and voted by his peers as the Mariners best throughout the clubs Premiership winning third season, Jedinak has saved his best for last at Bluetongue Stadium slamming six goals from 13 starts in season four, most of which being long-range specials or stunning free kicks.

"Im firstly thrilled to have secured a move to Genlerbirliği SK, a club where Im certain that I can continue my professional development and improve myself as a player," said Jedinak.

"My time at the Mariners has been unforgettable and it was here that I was first introduced to the Hyundai A-League and, from there, the Qantas Socceroos and for that I am forever thankful to the coaching staff, playing group and Members and supporters at the club.

"I hope to put in two big performances for the club before I depart and truly believe that the playing group that we have at the Mariners at present is capable of challenging for honours this season.

"It has been a pleasure to have been a part of the Mariners set up for nearly three seasons now and to have been amongst the first class characters within our playing group and wherever my career may take me in the future, I was always look back on my time on the Central Coast with a lot of happiness and pride."

The Mariners Hyundai A-League season continues at the EnergyAustralia Stadium home derby rivals the Newcastle Jets on Friday, 26 December. Kick off is at 8pm.

The Mariners return to their Bluetongue Stadium home on Wednesday, 31 December New Years Eve for the showpiece of their annual summer holiday extravaganza, which will culminate with a Hyundai A-League fixture against the Perth Glory. Kick off is at 6pm.

Tickets for this match are on sale from Ticketek outlets, from the Ticketek website www.ticketek.com.au, or via phone on 132 849.

It's a big blow, a very big blow with the ACL coming up. I've been the belief that Jedinak along with Caceres were to be among the most important players in the ACL campaign.

Here's hoping the club is scouting for a suitable replacement somewhere.

Do we have any vague idea what we got for Mile?

7 figures with a relegation release buy-back clause for half price to the Mariners would make me feel a little better. If only this was Football Manager  :ashamed:

Best of luck to him to him though. Like others have said though, it's good for him, but bad for us.

Good for Australian football too.

Sad to see him go- really, really, sad. Hope theres a nice big fee and we can buy a replacement asap. Because our midfield without the leadership and class of Jedinak, will be, well...... hate to think.

Good luck Mile!
(May you give us 6 points for Christmas before you go)

Hopefully he's trained some of the other knights to use the Force
