ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mile Jedinak

Jedi could easily start in the Championship. His tackling and interceptions are as good as any player, anywhere, he never loses a header, and his set piece ability is superior to anything we've seen in the A-League. He has the energy and running power, if not quite the acceleration, to play at their tempo.

His passing is OK, it's usually more his decision making on his distribution rather than his technique that lets him down. I think that's because he's been trying too hard to make things happen on the field. In the Championship, his position is usually about simple distribution to the full backs or the attacking midfielder so it wouldn't be a problem.

I don't think he's desperate to get out of the Mariners, but I definitely think he's desperate to get overseas and progress himself. From all accounts he is the most determined and professional player to come through our club, from work ethic, to social behaviour, to diet regime. He's been working and playing f**king hard to earn this move and he deserves it.

As to when he moves - we'll see. It would be heartbreaking for us to lose him any time, and a real season-killer to lose him in January. But it's inevitable, and I think getting in his way against his wishes would just encourage the next Jedinak to steer clear of our club.

Finally, Jaza - you're bitterness at another wasted season is showing.

Jaza, bitter??  Never......

You'd think with the Scouse on top he'd be happy for once.

_IF_ we can hold on to Mile until the end of the ACL group stages, then that's obviously the preferable option, but if he does go in January, then I think we might be best reverting to a back 5, as horrid as that sounds.   If only to offset the defensive loss...... unless we can somehow offset his loss with some delightful attacking formation that no-one has tried before/in a while.  2-4-4 perhaps??  ;D

WTF does Carney have to do with it?

Look at Sheffield Utd, look at their ambitions, and look at their roster.

They have several midfielders to fill that role and most I would say are better than Mile. In fact, it's a position they need to strengthen next season when Gary Speed retires, and they'll want a far higher quality player than Jedinak as they look to push towards the EPL.

I'd encourage you to discuss this with me, but there's no point, because I actually know their squad and you're another clueless Aussie on an internet forum making judgements on foreign teams you know nothing about.

If we can't have Mile for ACL, surely that hugely affects any recruiting plans the club may have had in the pipeline.

A $1M transfer fee might help offset some of the cost of replacing him.

Like everbody else says we can't stand in his way ... how do we replace him .. I have tho for  a while now we can replace almost anyone in the squad except Jedi, as he  just runs the midfield .. what a loss ... just hope we can keep him to May / June to enable us time to find a replacement.

However big thank you to LM for first spotting Jedi and having faith in him as I remember in Hal 2 when he came on he was no where near the player he is today so some good coaching and advise must have come from the LM and staff.

I would say that he would go before ACL.
All the hosing down of departure would be posturing for transfer fee negotiation.
Build up his importance to the team (in fact, his importance can not be overstated. Not only would he defend the f**k out of Asia, but would probs be highest goalscorer for our team.).
Get maximum fee. Deserved fee.
What a great player!

Turkey is a great move. Good league.

+1 for Skoko. But we would have to pay a transfer fee that would be greater than that paid for Jedinak. He is under contract at Hajduk Split until 2010. Even though he'll be thirty five when he comes of contract, I'd like to see him in yellow and blue.
No way as marquee though. But if Agostino is a marquee player, Sully shoud have been.

Depends how badly skoko wants to come back to aus. We all know contracts mean sweet f**k all, if he asks to be released to go home, it could happen sooner rather than later.

Midfielder - Carl Valeri is on his way up as Jedi is. Not a realistic target. Better off looking at some of the 2006 World Cup squad members who are getting older and might be ready to come back.

Jaza, happy to discuss it with you.

Couple of quick points though. Happy to be called clueless but dont ever call me an Aussie again

:)

I used Carney as an example of a player who got to the fringes of their squad and if thats the level of footballer considered worth a try out in the CCC, Mile is at least at his level.

Zadshite got a contract at that level too - I know who I would rather have out of the 2 of them.

I have no idea about Sheffields' squad as they are one of the sides I absolutely f**king hate with a passion (ironic eh?) after a mate and I got an absolute pasting off 2 adult fans of theirs when we were about 14yo (walking back to Putney via Bishops Park in the dark is not a clever move so we discovered).

Next time we play, I'll PM you and buy you a beer.

Oh dear. Apologies - I'd be offended as well.

Perhaps true (although I think you CCM types vastly overrate him - the thugishness will bite him in a league with proper referees), and Mile would be an OK pick up for certain sides in that div, but Sheffield is not one of them.

I think we should consider ourselves lucky if Jedi doesn't move during the January transfer window. If he get's an opportunity to move to a decent Euopean league (and I stress a decent European league, not Scandanavia or an equivalent) I wouldn't blame him one bit if he left.

The ACL is huge to us but not a patch on him furthering his career in Europe.
