Absolutely. This is the 10-15 goal a year striker we have been yearning for.

Potentially -
............................BK..........................
.........Cisse.......Golec........Clisby.
.............O'Neill.....Tommy H.................
..Hoole............Weemac..........Oar.......
.........................Matty................................
....................McCormack.........................
This squad looking more and more likely, where does Connor fit into this? Him & Jordan Murray coming on for tired legs?

Is McCormack a 90 minute player? Surely in this league with a point to prove about his fitness against his old boss he would be pushing for that.

Gonna get my membership, for the first time I have waited. I needed proof management or more to the point Charlesworth deserved my financial support. With a trip planned to Europe next year, cutting back to add to Europe is in my mind.

I have looked at what first Charlesworth has done, and then what Mulvey has done.

Charlesworth, also said year five of his ownership would be the year we stood up, and by chance this is year five.

Mulvey IMO is the best coach we have had since Arnold, and his willingness to met fans and openly say he has many game plans is music to my ears. Further his decision to live on the Coast and make players live on the Coast is clever.

Meaning marks to Charlesworth for the coach, and making the decision early to get rid of Okon and hire Mulvey.

Baro being replaced by Cissee=== Massive and critical upgrade, why because at times Baro went missing, but most importantly because you need your number one CB to be an organiser. Baro was not an organiser he needed one. Our right back issues had almost as much to do with McGling not be told what to do as it was with McGing. Being told when to move up, and called back and told to drift in or out is critical for a player like McGing and Cissee will provide this.

Clisby for Rose, no brainer for me, big engine, hard, and will listen to calls from inside.

When we add Golec, we have a reasonable defence, far better than we have had in a long time.

O’Neil for DDS, IMO O’Neil is the better player, and 8 who is hard and will help Tommy who IMO is the best 6 in the league.

The gamble players all teams have them, last year for us it was Liam Rose, Bell, Trent, Wales and Appaih. All of these players and Rose aside all where blessed with speed.

Only Bell remains and arguably due to contract, replaced by injury gamble players in Shabow, Gamerio & Aspropotamitis, all prior to their injuries considered headed for much higher honours, add Kerkis from the youth team and the difference between the two years is huge. Last years 5 compared to the 5 players this year is like chalk & cheese.

Adding Oar & weeMac to the side will add huge pressure on Hoole & Pain.

Gamerio , Matty S, Murry and now Cormack compared to Powell & Bingham, don’t have to say any more.

Only at keeper are we weak.

The bench will be very strong this year as well.

Thoroughly agree. Glad you’ll be at the grounds middy.

Villa fans are claiming some awful things about McCormack’s persona but English football fans are bloody harsh.

Also laughing that their worst is our best, “yeah well, that’s just like, your opinion man.” I mean Tom is all class for one thing. Best thing Okon ever did by far.

Anyway great signing for us. Is fitness a worry? Assume he’s been training with Villa?

We'll give him a number. I bet he's very happy to be out here in our summer rather than an English winter. Have Villa got so many good strikers that they don't need this bloke? Amazing.

McCormack is supposed to have something of an attitude problem but Joyce said he was a model professional whilst he was at $ity and iirc, they tried very hard to extend his loan when the initial period expired.

Like FP says, critics can be very harsh over there and if a player isn’t happy, their relationship with the manager and/or the club can rapidly deteriorate (DDS anyone?). Given the money that Villa paid for him, they would be reluctant to simply let him walk away and his recall from $ity was no doubt to try to offload him during the January window off the back of his HAL form.

Assuming that MMM and Monty can channel his attitude into his on-field play, this could be an inspired signing, as he clearly has sublime ability. I just wonder how much his arrival would alter MMM’s plans for our playing formation, as you would have to think McCormack is a certain starter, so where does that leave Simon?

Well this might help

Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack set to join Australian side Central Coast Mariners on season-long loan
  • Aston Villa have agreed to send Ross McCormack out on a season-long loan
  • The striker is set to join Australian side Central Coast Mariners in the A-League
  • He is expected to join from next week ahead of their season starting in October
By Simon Jones for MailOnline

Aston Villa have agreed to send Ross McCormack on a season loan to Australian side Central Coast Mariners.

The finer details of the deal are still being ironed out but the 32-year-old is expected to join the A-League side from next week ahead of their season starting in October.

McCormack also had interest from A-League rivals Wellington Phoenix following his impressive loan spell with Melbourne City last season when he scored 14 goals in 16 games.

Aston Villa will send Ross McCormack (pictured in January) on loan to Central Coast Mariners

Melbourne have signed McCormack's Aston Villa clubmate, defender Ritchie de Laet, 29, on loan.

The Scottish forward moved to Villa Park from Fulham as Roberto Di Matteo’s marquee signing in 2016 and still has just under two years left on his current contract.

Would Simon have been a starter? I'd imagine that mm would have considered the prospect of a 10goal striker being hired and always had that as a possibility. I'm seeing him as the striker with the rest fighting it out for starting and subs. Even if Simon is our other starter, we can still get another one on the pitch, even in an outside position.
Mm reckons he will have flexibility in tactics - we may see player choice be influenced by our opposition

I’ve felt for most of this pre season that we will play with 2 strikers this season with the amount of forwards we have.
And play without a designated CAM/number 10. As really only Wee Mac can play there naturally.

The conundrum for MM is that Wee Mac has been outstanding in the number ten position so far in pre-season. Simon was number two to Bobo last season and we now have a potentially equally potent striker in McCormack.

Great to have these options.

Exactly and OH nails the dilemma.

Matty false nine weemac to rm?

I can’t see us not having Tom and O’Neil starting, so 442 is out.

Im usually not a fan of playing with 2 strikers, in modern football its basically conceding the midfield. But both Matty and Ross are known to drop back to pick up the ball and with Tom, Weemac and O'Neal on the park i honestly think we'd still boss.

Matty Simon is one of the most fouled players in the A-League and Ross would be pretty much the best dead ball specialist in the league so for me its a no brainer really.

With Clisby and Oar on the left raining in crosses you really want Matty in the middle as well. It would be a real versatile and unpredictable attack, basically the left side set up with wingers bombing and the right side set up with technical players, short and long ball options... its kinda exciting
