ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Villa will be the issue here, they want him out but don’t want to be a charity either. From the start of the rumour I just didn’t see us having the coin. If it comes off I will be well pleased but thinks it’s a 10% chance at best. No doubt they are ramping up the rumour mill to try and get some cash back on him. Watch this space.

Personally think we are more in need of a right back than a striker, Simon started for Sydney in the A-League last year when they were in the ACL and excelled. I think Simon, Gamerio and Murray are more than capable of being our strike force, though maybe an extra backup is needed if we are planning on playing with dual strikers every week, Elvis Kamsoba could be a good pickup. Wouldn't mind recruiting Yitay Towns from Avondale who has been terrific from them at right back in the NPLV all year, he can also rotate through midfield.

I disagree I think if you look at the numbers involved, I think we are still 50/50. 35 wks, maybe at most final day of championship. 40k a wk max. Minus marquee money (hopefully). I reckon max a mill out of pocket.

I know MC is loosening his purse strings but it seems a long way to him spending a cool mill on a single player

The only thing I'm disagreeing with is that we don't need a quality striker. The strikers we have are capable in a squad but I'll be very surprised if either of them score 10+ and if we are serious about competing then someone will have to. None proven record of being prolific at HAL level

I’m tempted by this also JP.

Yeah it is the question.

I’m genuinely wondering if Matty or Gameiro might be able to. I mean Matty has before. But we know we will never compete until our centre forward is scoring 12 plus really.

Matty is capable but I now have genuine doubts over Gameiro. He is still injured and his recovery is taking longer than expected.

He needed to hit the ground running this with a full pre season but will now be playing catch up.

Aston Villa have agreed to send Ross McCormack on a season loan to Australian side Central Coast Mariners.

The finer details of the deal are still being ironed out but the 32-year-old is expected to join the A-League side from next week ahead of their season starting in October.

McCormack also had interest from A-League rivals Wellington Phoenix following his impressive loan spell with Melbourne City last season when he scored 14 goals in 16 games.

Aston Villa will send Ross McCormack (pictured in January) on loan to Central Coast Mariners

Melbourne have signed McCormack's Aston Villa clubmate, defender Ritchie de Laet, 29, on loan.

The Scottish forward moved to Villa Park from Fulham as Roberto Di Matteo’s marquee signing in 2016 and still has just under two years left on his current contract.

Yes, this is excellent. Can't get too excited yet, we've been there before. I feel that if this happens, it will bring hope of bagging a few wins. It's not going to be the golden ticket to the GF, but will make the upcoming season more enjoyable than last year.
I can see the other players lifting knowing that someone up the paddock knows how to find the back of the net.
