Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I want Matty and McCormack both on, who wouldn’t, presumably with Gameiro to sub on for Ross after 65 odd. But it’s a formation which does not support where our current squad depth lies really.

Going to be competitive.

We don’t need wingers. Back a long ball up to Mat. Get the foul and watch Ross bang in the free kick and Clisby say that could of been me

People on here and else where have rightly so bagged coaches in our country (especially okon) that stick to the same plan that usually revolves around having a CAM #10 and one up front...

Then when some of us point out that always having a number 10 isn’t necessary it blows peoples minds.

1000% agree with the earlier post about speed down our left with delivery and technical ability and intelligence down the right. We would be so incredibly dynamic.

Wee Mac doesn’t have the consistent speed anymore. I’d have him on the right drifting into channels linking with the strikers and an over lapping full back in Millar/McGing. And Oar getting paint on his boots in the other side, driving at right backs all day long. Clisby doesn’t have to go past him, just support and cover him.

I’d back us to be very effective in a 4-4-2. Or even a 4-3-3.

Just glad the team should be watchable this year. may have to get the olde jersey dry cleaned to clear all the dust out of it before 21/10...

I was just looking at picking a first 11. Was fairly easy. Then I tried to pick a bench. f**k me.

Pearce, Aspro, Melling, Pain, Gameiro

I see that as a regular bench for us this season. Especially when Oar and Ross finally get announced. I’m predicting a Hoole dummy spit when he realises the competition for places, that will see him completely dropped.

..,yeah, I think saying that proposing a 442 or that not having a 10 is blowing anyone’s mind is a real stretch.

I’m a pragmatist like Mulvey, and think it’s about what shape best fits your strengths, and not the egoism I see that often accompanies the ‘style’ or even ‘my philosophy’ arguments that seem to be more about the coach than the team or club half the time.

I love attacking football as a preference, but above all I prefer to win. Win well. Win lucky. Win ugly. Just win. Though I do have one line and like to win fairly.

Keen to see Shabow get a run too

Ha. Did exactly the same thing.
Did you put weemac as RM? I’m assuming you kept O’Neil and Tom in so not a 442?
Yep just a flat 442 with WeeMac on the right. Could also be a 433 with WeeMac central and Simon playing right off a central striker. That position would actually suit the 2npl boys we've got as well and Hoole. There are so many options from midfield forward it's not funny. It's a very attacking side though.

We really need a 7 man bench already. No point having all these players if you can't choose to use them during a game

There has been a push to increase bench numbers across football but the downside for HAL clubs would be increased travel and accommodation costs.
