Id like to see more of Appiah. Don't really think he's being able to show all his potential, he always looks lively when coming on. Super sub maybe?

Soccer Stoppage time reporting that Trent is being chased but at least two othe A-League clubs for his next contract.

We need to lock him down ASAP
This is key. You'd think we'd be keen. Thinking we should be in the box seat to keep him though:
My hope is Trent would know that Okon would be a good coach for him, plus he's guaranteed game time, plus it's his hometown club, and the club would support his future moves if he wanted them.

Let me guess.

We have started negotiating with his manager for a new contract and all of a sudden there are rumours of outside interest in him.

I wonder who starts these rumours?

IIRC, other clubs aren't actually permitted to speak to him until the last 6 months of his contract. By that time, we can have some idea whether there's likely to be interest in him, and if we think there is, we can shop him overseas for a fee rather than lose him to a rival for nothing.

AN astonishing 150 A-League players are coming out of contract at the end of the season.
Rival clubs will be sending feelers out in coming weeks, so here’s my top 30 list of uncontracted players with the each club’s list below.

Galloway comes in at #30

Every team has a lot of players off contract.

New TV deal with an obvious effect as clubs looking to see what they can spend and agents wanting to know what's available. TV deal needs to be sorted soon so everyone can plan.

I feel we may lose Storm as Wellington is getting serious about recruiting New Zealand talent. Hopefully not but I don't think we could match the offer if they went after him.

At what cost?
Should we go all out?

He is a local product and we need local players on the team, we need to show the academy is a path way, he has real potential, lighting quick
But
Is not the finished product so still needs to be paid accordingly
But teams like AU who had Kamua and Mabill before him are really missing a quick winger and might over pay if he is a missing link. Trent has very similar features to those players (not saying AU is one of the linked teams but makes sense)

Storm is as much a NZer as Pavlova, both claim to be from there but are at home in Australia. Unless Paul brings someone else in to threaten his position I think we'd be safe as long as the offer is reasonable.

Our problem is money talks and we don't match up there

Yeah I agree that Storm isn't really much of a kiwi but I fear that with so much pressure being applied on the Nix they will go all out to build a title winning team and Tratt/Fenton certainly aren't good enough for that.

With Josh Risdon off contract and probably looking to cash in on his 'Socceroos' status overseas I wouldn't be surprised to see Storm to go other opposite way - back home to Perth.

I reckon it'd make more sense than WelNux... Both teams have fairly expensive rosters going at the moment though.
Storm had stuck by the club through some fairly rough times though, I'd like to think that we'd do right by him and vice versa. I tend to forget that He's only 22 as well - he's arguably still got some developing to do... Probably wouldn't hurt to do it under Paulo.

Storm remember is coming off a major injury & at his age he needs to show consistency over the rest of this season to warrant a big payday.
I like him.
I think his best football is in front of him and at his age he is certainly worth the gamble.
The big picture will be how we fare over the rest of the season.
It's always hard to leave a team that has really struggled through the bad times & then reaches a new level with that same playing group.
You sorta just want to stay & feel those good times after looking at you mates for so long when times were tough.
Sometimes the money is not all of the equation as long as the opportunity exists in the future.

Me thinks the key to keeping our best youth i.e Trent, Berry etc is to sign Okon... IMO they will follow him to whatever club he is at ...same as Arnold.

Interesting but Risdon would be mad to leave now. Don't risk your fringe Socceroos spot to try overseas now, wait till after the World Cup . That's his advantage, playing regularly. Also I don't rate him as the Socceroos option at RB.
Storm also has made good friends with his teammates and they are all a similar age
But also the treatment of some team mates who won't get offers might upset some if for no other reason than they are mates. So that can also be part of the juggling act with so many off contract they will all be talking to each other.
Whose staying, how much they offer you how long etc

For the first time I'm not worried about our high numbers coming off contract. I want Okon to be able to create and develop his own squad.
But for mine-
Must keeps/fight for: Okon, Roy, Pain, Trent
High priority: Taveres, Galloway, Storm, LRose,
Ascroft, Posco
I'd also pursue: Monty, Ferreira

I like a lot of our other players but honestly it's only the 'must keeps' for me I'd consider a terrible loss if they went. I think Taveres and Ascroft are playing themselves into that list as will Rose when he gets the chance. Monty too probably if he is consistent again this season

Pain, Rose and Ashcroft are all signed to end of 17/18 season (next season)

Risdon is a mug at international level.
