Any chance we could get Joe Cole in the Jan transfer window.
He has scored 7 goals in 21 games for Tampa Bay Rowdies.
When does US season finish?
Leaving aside whether he'd be good value or not (and I don't think he would be), he's contracted to the end of 2017 with a club option to re-sign in 2018. Source - Rowdies press release.

Unless we're about to pay the Rowdies to break the contract...

...sorry...

...then he won't be coming here anytime soon.

TWG: Do you ideally want to stay in Australia for good, or go back to the UK at some stage?
RO'D: There's no point making plans in football because it doesn't work like that, things so often change and can do very quickly. But I've said it a thousand times, I love Australia, I think the A-League is a great product, it's a great place to play football and a great place to live, so at this stage I have no thoughts of going back to live. But you never know.

Obviously Ronaldo is better.... but Cole is the best English player since Waddle and Gazza for mine.
Enjoyable video whatever your thoughts.

Jeremy Walker has signed for Green Gully he was a great right back for the Heart quite a few seasons ago but is still only 23. If he would be willing to move for minimum wage (and he played semi professionally in England so I think he would) I believe he would be a good depth signing and someone who could really push Storm for the right back role.

Scott Galloway is also hoping to make a return to Okon’s side this week after recovering well from his hamstring injury that was incurred against Wellington Phoenix. Speaking today after training,
Okon also mentioned that Jacob Poscoliero is tracking well and has commenced full training with the team on his road to recovery.

Given we have 17 players coming off contract at the end of this year, including all 5 of our visa players who are our priorities to re-sign? Other clubs will be able to approach these players soon. Who do we need to tie up first?

Necesvski, Izzo, Galloway, Neill, McDonald, Faty, Poscoliero, Roux, Adelson, Montgomery, Tavares, Fletcher, O'Donovan, Bingham, Ferriera, Buhagiar, Appian-Kubi

Absolute musts
Galloway Galloway then Galloway
Taveras
O'Donovan
Buhagiar

Then should be but not totally irreplaceable
Izzo, Roux,

I'd like Adelson and Bingham and Posco if cheep

Goodbye
Ivan, Neill, McDonald, Faty, Fletcher, Ferriera, Appiah

And finally Monty I don't have a category for him. Team needs his leadership but must be an Aussie which is in the works. He also must except less playing time as Rose and Berry are the future.

Then get a CB and #10 foreigners
Leaving one foreigner maybe a new Fab while Trent matures

I agree pretty much with what you say - with a few observations.

1) It might be a case of Tavares and Faty if you want Taveres. After a poor start I though Faty was going well before injury.

2) There are rumours of 2 other clubs looking at Trent.

3) Monty is interesting, agree that he needs to be a non-visa player. He also has a desire to go into coaching. I wonder if there is some sort of combined a combined "club captain" / coaching / mentoring role that he can fill - especially if we are looking at an expanded Academy setup. As you said - he will not be guaranteed playing time as the youngsters develop so he may also have to let go of the "team captain" title.

4) I would definitely roll the dice again with Jake Adelson. Very unlucky to have both ACL done for someone so young. He should be cheap because of the injury history - but has enormous upside and very little downside apart from taking a spot.

5) Fletcher was underdone last year and hasn't had a chance this year. As a youngster he used to set up all Bulut's goals for the Aust youth teams. I would still have the jury out on him though maybe Paolo just doesn't see anything there.
