It's true that Mariners play better away from Gosford..... yep....let's move, but not overseas.... let's get back to North Sydney where the team belongs.

Note: for those who don't remember that far back.... CCM started as NSFC!

Welcome to 1997!

Two good seasons then what happened?

These comments are pretty insulting the majority of Mariners fans who did not support NS.

When are gooses like you two gunna stop getting misty eyed about old soccer and all that went with it and get with the times. You lot had your go and ended up completely stuffing up the game by about 2002/3. Let the new generation take Football onwards and upwards from here. Where's Paolo for his reply?  :tv:

TBF - i think sacko wouldn't mind a game at NSO for nostalgia's sake. i think it's just striker (and maybe ursus in his madder moments) that would like the team to move.

So let me get this straight.

The potato field needs work. It'll take a month or so.  During that time the potato field will turn into a beatiful field of grass, however, while it is doing this the potato field must turn into a field of turds.

So we have to play a couple of games away because if we play this game of "football" on the field whilst it metamorphises it will degenerate into a crappy game and probably make the works go even longer.

This has happened before, and will most likely happen again to many teams. On nearly every occasion i can think of, said team came back to their nice new field of grass.

I just don't see where the conspiracy is.  I'm failing to see any snipers on the grassy knoll, any jack ruby's in the crowd and any boat people sitting in Brisbane Water with a can of fuel.

But one thing i do know and that's a shit pitch that needs fixing. And if it means we lose some home games this year, then fine, but make sure you bloody fix that pitch.

No Dibo - you f**k off!

There is potential for growth if Mariners move back to North Sydney.  It appears they are in a stalemate in the present form and location.   Not that there is anything wrong with Gosford?  - I like coming up there to watch football.. Gosford is a nice place village-like atmosphere but limited potential.

That's the worst post I've seen on this forum yet.....

no one of my tim cahill posts are worse

So today Mr Gorman in the smh is saying that there will be a squad overhaul. Notably he says when Lawrie comes back from japan he will talk to him.

IN OTHER WORDS the ceo is hear and has not released anything in the media about these canberra games. All this talk of "im sure when they get back from japan, they have more important things going on" is officially balony

I've been one for the conspiracy theory ie that we were going to have a presence in some other area & split games because of the all the stuff that has come out of the south coast bid and supposedly having to capture the south western sydney market. Also the lack of noise regarding the Tuggerah facilities and no decent signings have me concerned about the financial status of our backers. I'm assuming they lost a lot of money last year both in their normal business activities and with the mariners. I cut my family membership down to a single membership because of too many night time games and we had already stocked up on merchandise for the 4 kids so there were no new purchases there. I'm assuming there were a lot of families in the same boat.

This out of the SMH suggest that we may move games from time to time but the FFA won't let us share out team.

"In recent weeks there have been suggestions the Wollongong-based bid - known as South Coast FC - might spread its wings to incorporate western Sydney, but Buckley said: "What I've said publicly is that a team could have a secondary location, but it's primary focus has to be the region it's located in. You can't have a 50-50 split.

"You may be able to take a small number of games to a secondary location, but you have to be very committed to your local region. They'd [South Coast] have to do a very good job at convincing us they're weren't spreading themselves too thinly." (sic)"

There was also some nice stuff from Lyall this morning regarding boosting the squad so that is pretty positive.

I know this bit probably belongs in the manager out thread but I believe we have to get rid of the no dickheads policy (if one exists). There are many things that make elite sports people tick with ego being a big driver for some of them. I believe it shows a weak manager and captain if they can't handle the odd dickhead. I would take Ljubo in a heart beat at the moment and probably Sash as well (he wouldn't be taking penalties).

it's the central coast mariners. they were established in 2004 as a regional team to participate in the a-league.

they weren't given a licence to hang around for a couple of years and piss off to north sydney, parramatta or anywhere else. they were given a licence to make gosford work. the fact that no other national league team (rhinos aside) plays from the coast was a definite contributing factor.

the FFA has put a lot of effort in up there, the mariners have put a lot of effort in up there, the people of the central coast have been great supporters thus far. if the mariners were to move away from the coast, there would certainly be a backlash. it'd be a spit in the face of everyone who's supported them over the last four years. the central coast would become a dead zone for football. it'd salt the earth.

if there is to be a team at NSO or parramatta, that's fine. the FFA can start one from scratch, not take ours.
I don't always agree with Dibo but this post could have been written by me, so well does it sum up my feelings on this matter.

If there's a plan to relocate CCM I want to know before I invest more time and emotion supporting this club. If CCM start playing games elsewhere I will seriously consider either becoming a Sydney FC supporter (easier now that shitface has been sacked) or just not bothering with the A-League at all.

I had this crazy idea that since the ACL finishes in may, and the season starts in august...they would have plenty of time to do it then.

Unless the problem is the cross over from winter to summer and they figure that unlike every stadium/oval/playground in australia/world, we will be unable to use our field for 2 months over that time every year.

Simple solution would be sack the contractors, and get the govt to do it, or bring in other contractors. No other field on the coast has the issues of bluetongue, fields hosting many many more games hold up in better condition with far less money and people to maintain them.

Finally, a comment from Mr Gorman. It wouldn't hurt to have a media release on the website or even an email to members explaining the reasons. Might just prevent a fair bit of angst. Like any relationship, communication is key.

Gorman, meanwhile, confirmed the Mariners would be taking two home matches away from Gosford next season - against Perth Glory [September 4] and Adelaide United [October 31] - because of ground maintenance on the troubled Bluetongue Stadium surface.

"I think everyone would agree we want the pitch to return to its former condition," Gorman said.

Canberra Stadium has been mooted as a possible choice for one game because of the Mariners' partnership with ACT football.

This is bollocks - the decision to move the games would have been made as part of the draw process. The various stadiums would also need ot be contacted to organise bookings.

The pitch issue is simply a smokescreen IMHO - good spin but bollocks

It's funny, they've managed to turn a football field into a fig leaf.

Either that or the club really needs to get itself a member & supporter liaison officer who is proactive or is given the wherewithal to massively improve relations by the club CEO and board.

Note to CCMFC - this is different to ticketing and different to community liaison and to marketing and to media

Adding to Kev's comments ... most on this site and season ticket holders are rusted on football folk willing to talk up the club and what it is doing ...

We can be a huge asset if you want to us ... ignore us and take us for granted and well it will hurt you in the hip pocket...

I support Kev in his call for someone to make contact ...BTW have a look at Yellow Fever constant updates by management ... good stuff ...

Agree. They may use the time to do something to the pitch, though a month without games was no help last year or so far this year.

But would be seriously surprised if that was the actual reason for them moving the games.

Where is the other game going if only 1 in canberra.

Awaiting west sydney or tasmania or wollongong.

Just to clarify, [and as per the quote above] I said "If we do have to move a couple of games, why not use NSO"!
I did NOT say that I support CCM becoming a nomadic club playing out of 3 games like the Western Tiggers do in the thugby league.

Furthermore if CCM did become such a club my involvement in Australian football would be limited to OUFC and the handful of meaningful Socceroos games that played in Sydney

I talked to a friend who works for the council and has some say in the maintenance of BTS just after our first ACL game. He had been in one of the boxes during the game and was amazed at my spit about the continuing poor state of the pitch. There seems to be a blind spot in council about what is required for football as opposed to thugby.

That doesn't surprise me.

It's an Australia wide blind spot as far as football's concerned.Look at the problems we've had with ANZ and Melbourne with Docklands etc.
