ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners sell supporters short.... again

Seriously all you guys are so negative about the club at the moment! They cannot to anything right can they. Easy to take potshots while they are in Japan preparing for one of the biggest matches in the history of the club.

Until the club makes a statement on the issue i think everyone should not judge the club and hold their negative views to themselves.

IF taking a game to Canberra or Homebush guarantees substantial $$$$ why wouldn't the club think about it especially for games that dont draw against Perth and Adelaide. The club is a business and they need money to survive and your and my season tickets dont go anywhere close to paying expenses of the club.

Other clubs do take games elsewhere for money just look at Cronulla in the NRL who got $100000 for that game on Sunday no matter what even if only 2 people showed up. I guess if Canberra or Homebush can guarantee that sort of money its not a stupid idea but maybe we should wait until the club gives an official statement before we bag them out.

Last sentence in the article says ....Meanwhile, Central Coast Mariners are investigating taking two home games away from Gosford, with Canberra Stadium likely to be one of the venues.

Maybe to where we have relationships

I think this would be a purely finacial one off arragement. Canberra are desperate to hawk there region to the FFA with all the talk about Western Sydney and the South Coast. Plus we already have ties with Canberra and have taken trial matches there so if they were looking to host an A-League match we would have been their obvious first port of call.

Any match there would have to go close to sell out if they promote it the right way.

This is from the Daily Telegraph Website. In a statement from Ben Buckley
In 2009/10, we will see:
10 teams
6 more rounds of football
51 more games
135 games in the regular season
12,150 minutes of emotion
each club play one another on three occasions
another 7 matches in the Finals Series.

In addition, matches will be played in up to 16 different venues in 13 cities. Both
Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix will play home games in three venues, while
Central Coast Mariners and Perth will use two venues each. In Wellington Phoenix
and Central Coast Mariners case, each of their venues is in different cities.

Round 5 notes
Another Thursday night fixture for Melbourne Victory to take account of AFL fixtures.
Central Coast Mariners are looking at opportunities of taking their home games out of Gosford for two games. There are no matches scheduled on Sunday 6 September to allow for a FIFA match date.

Agree ... further The Choppers & Nix are swapping a couple of games as well ... I remember when we began talking to Canberra about the area being a feeder club and the advantage of having a link in Canberra was that we promised them some pre season and some A-League matches ... there was no protest at the time by the forum  at the time...

Why is Jeff Hall officially speaking on behalf of the Marinators when he is no longer club president?

Really poor form when the committee has not got together and been able to discuss their position on the matter.

how would i know, i am not on the committee

am assuming though that the committee will not jump to conclusions like the advocate article and that the president will actually speak to the mariners first about the situation

At the end of the day every team in the a-league is just a franchise with customers to be exploited.

As opposed to a local club with supporters.

bollocks. this is a forum. we're supporters of the club, we have a stake in its future. if we can't be critical of the club in our own forum then we might as well not post here.

it's not a f**king polyanna group.

I think that is the problem ... the club should have known that this would get a reaction and had a media release drafted ready to go once the draw was announced.

Being in Japan is no excuse for lack of planning.

However, there is a lot of jumping to conclusions going on by many on here - it is fine to have negative or positive views and express them, but in the end we just have to wait for some official information.

I am not saying that you cant be negative but everything is negative on here at the moment nothing is positive. We are in the AFC Champions League and still a mathematical chance of qualifying out of the group stage. Now thats positive!

The club has obiviously decided to investigate moving a home game away from home but until the club comes out with the reasons why this the case i think people should wait to make judgement. If it is for $$$$ depending on how much i would totally support the club because we need the money just like every other club in the A-League.

Hmmmmmmmm

Team implodes (attitude wise) towards the end of the season

Makes no investment in the squad for ACL (of any note) and seems to not care about it

Team continues to play poorly in ACL

Club doesnt even consider its fans as it moves games away from Gosford.

No, I cant imagine why people would be negative either

I'm trying to avoid thinking about the West Sydney theory as if that was the case I'd drop the club and HAL quicker than a Lumpard eats a doughnut!

If the club's survial means 2 home games being played elsewhere to collect extra $$$ then I could stomach that it we were duly compensated, e.g. pay the price in V5 as V4 for the same number of games at BTS.

The resurfacing sounds like a red herring due to the length of time between the dates, but I shall reserve judgement until we get an offical annoucnment from the club, which IMO should  be made as soon as the plane has touched down from Japan!

I also agree with bulldogmariner and others.  If you look on the Wellington Phoenix site you can see that the club has put a media release on their site regarding the 2 games going to Palmerston North and Christchurch.  Why could the Mariners not do the same - it would stop all speculation!

Hell, you yourself has pretty strong views at the time, which I think are pretty reasonable.

Thats a shocking respone Dibo and frankly I would expect better from you. Those comments were made in relation to an article that distinctly referenced home games in Sydney and you've taken them totally out of context. This thread is based upon the draw. Slightly different context don't you think??
