Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

"needs the support of everybody, to look forward and help us make it sustainable. But in terms of the model I’ve produced, yes there is definitely a sustainable future for this club on the Central Coast, 100%”.

Big bold and to the point we were all looking for. We all knew this but most importantly management does, has a plan and has told the owner.

“Some of the expenditure that’s gone on in the past little while has been really poor,” he said. “There’s been some player signings that just haven’t worked at quite a substantial cost. They are out of the picture now and that will take quite a whack out of it. Our commercial sales have been poor, and there’s a big push to turn that around."

STATEMENT: Mariners & Central Coast Football join forces

The Central Coast Mariners and Central Coast Football (CCF) are pleased to announce that both entities will work collaboratively in the best interest of football on the Central Coast after settling all previous disputes.
Central Coast Mariners Executive Vice Chairman, Peter Storrie and Central Coast Football General Manager Darren Sprod have worked tirelessly to reach a mutually beneficial relationship that will see football grow in the local area.
Storrie was delighted to reach an agreement that himself, Darren Sprod (CCF General Manager), Ken Schembri (CCF Football Manager) and the CCF Board were able to agree upon, resulting in a mutually beneficial relationship moving forward.
"Developing a productive and positive relationship with Central Coast Football has been one of my top priorities since arriving on the Central Coast and reaching an agreement with Darren, Ken & the CCF Board is a huge step in the right direction for this club," Storrie said.
The Central Coast Mariners and Central Coast Football will now be able to work together to market both entities and ultimately improve the participation of football at a grass roots level as well as the engagement levels with the Hyundai A-League. The announcement comes on the day of Central Coast Football's 2015 Season Launch to be held tonight.

"It is no secret that in the past there has been a strain our relationship but since Peter has arrived it is clear that he is steering the ship in the right direction and we are delighted to be working more closely with the Mariners again," Sprod said.

Maybe it something all clubs need to go through and hopefully come out the other end...

Tis no secret in Hals say 1 to 6, we were the community club and in Hals 1 to 8 we punched well above our weight and in Hal 9 I think we got lucky ...

But from Hal say 8 and then 9 our management team went from good to poor and towards the middle of Hal 9 and in Hal 10 our management was dire...

Charlesworth needs to be blamed for much of this in appointing IMO anyway a poor management team... the Coast was being lost and the ship appeared to be rudderless and we did not have a home port...

Charleswoth then appointed a high profile manager and the confidence is starting to return the TerrOr article above shows this ... released today all the wars with the local clubs and association which had got to people suing each other has been resolved...

Just goes to show how important the management team behind the on field team is... and for this little Coastie thank heavens its happened.

I have no idea about the mechanics behind the whole local association problem, but I could never understand why there wasn't some agreement reached. It requires communication and a bit of humility to get shit done, have we not been able to do that till now? So glad that is sorted though. The last few weeks actually feel like catharsis for the club. Onward, upward.

I had my doubts about Storrie when he was appointed but he is proving me wrong. I wrote a long time ago that what the club needed off the field was the equivalent of a Graham Arnold; someone with leadership qualities to take the club to much higher levels. Storrie is certainly showing decisive leadership; it takes a lot of ability to bring about an agreement with CCF in such a short space of time after such a fractured acrimonious relationship. I get the impression that Charlesworth trusts this guy implicitly. Working closely with CCF is a no brainer, and with Ken Schembri coaching I see nothing but good coming out of this.

I just read the piece in the SMH. I think it's the best we can hope for. Unfortunately we have to accept that people don't go to the football here on the coast.
Let's face it even when we're up the top the gates aren't huge. Two games away from the coast in a season. If we want the Mariners to remain (mainly) on
the coast, grin and bear it people.

It would take a lot for me to travel to North Sydney oval again though. I went the first time. The wooden seats in the stand were bloody awful.
Parking wasn't easy. I really had to drive as I had my son with me. Any other way and we would have got home too late.

Another goal kicked by Storrie. All seems to good to be true. Let's hope it's not.

Less 'too good to be true' than 'no less than I'd be demanding'.

We're not moving from Gosford (for at least the next three years)? I should bloody well hope not.

He'll no sooner get a round of applause for this from me than he would for telling me he won't shoot Fido for at least three years.

As far as I'm concerned, Storrie is doing a lot of things right. I particularly liked the bit about sorting out the finances and how it was a clusterf**k before he arrived. It highlighted what a lot of you guys had been saying over the last few years.

Take the marketing far example. Simple money making opportunities are continually missed. It seems that the financial accountability within the club was so poor that no one was being held to account. If Storrie can rectify that, then wow… all of a sudden then can be new money coming into the club without much effort.

It also highlights something very important. MC's grand plan of 5-6 games in NS was a bandaid solution to the poor financial state of the club. It was never going to address the underlying cause of the pain. Storrie, to his credit, is going about this in the right way by fixing broken relationships, preparing a plan, on and off the field, for the short term future and making the back-of-house accountable for their actions and decisions.

It's all a simple strategy… and it's all no less than a lot of us die-hard Coasties have been saying for a long time. For those of you who have suggested we bend over and accept the decision to shift 5-6 games south can assume that exact same position.

I'm in dibo's camp in that it's 'no less than I'd be demanding'… but as a manager of a small group of people in NSW Health, if my people did what was expected of them, I would still be giving them praise… but also pointing out that there is the opportunity to reach higher and be a high performer.

. to me, this is the most disturbing part of the article:

the SMH article said:
"Changes had to be made because the club was not even aware of how much money they were losing, Mike was dipping his hand into his pocket every time it was required. There were no budgets, there were no reporting processes, there was nobody aware of the position the company was in going forward," Storrie said.

. this won't be the first time i have mentioned false economies on the forum, but this just highlights the level of the issue ... and it is a top down issue. 'the suits' are responsible for this stuff ... charlesworth can't blame the fans, the council, the coaching staff, the players or the work experience kiddies that work in the mariners office

. charlesworth is responsible as chairman and for the executives that report to him ... and it has taken storrie to highlight this as an issue?!

The problem I have with this article is that the issue is the wrong way around. But I suspect that's intentional.

The article should really be that the Club is looking to play two games away from it's PERMANENT base to see if it is viable. The article reads the reverse. That the Club is playing 12 games at Gosford to see if THAT is viable.

I guess they tried the first approach and look where that got them!

. and i will add this to the viability discussion about taking games away from home:
  • we watched the first game at north sydney
  • we have traveled to away games (not just finals)
  • we have traveled interstate several times
  • shit, we even went to china to watch the boys play
  • the hubby even works within waking distance of NSO
. but i doubt we will watch another game live at NSO. park all the emotional reasons for a minute ... as fans ... it is a shit place to watch football and this may come as a surprise - but i go to the football to ... umm ... watch the football

. i would suggest that the CEO and Commercial Manager (i notice we now also have a financial director - is that a new appointment?) plug this little piece of information into their feasibility model but, apparently, they don't have one!

I find it a bit hard to believe no one knew how much money we were losing. I've heard M Charlesworth say $1 million a season. I think it was a fans forum.
I'm sure M Charlesworth wasn't that naive when he took over from P Turnbull to know how we were, or weren't going financially.

As i said before NSO is a woeful place for football. Brookevale would have been better.
