ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I have always said MC is a very mixed bag ... unlike Fat Tony at the Fold my reading of the tea leafs is MC wants to make the club work but is to busy to sit down and work out how and has in the past gone on what seems like reasonable hunches ... in effect he has upset everybody and his penny pinching in some areas has not gone down all that good ..... also wanting the Coast to fund almost everything has hurt ....

However.. the CEO still moving ahead, we have replaced our coach ... and bills are being paid...

The appointment of Storrie in and of itself is a sign if nothing else that he is serious about something we have speculated everything from moving the team to Mars ... to playing out of Plum park with the Woy Woy over 55 team...

My reading Storrie job is to make the team work and maybe even ready it for sale but to ready the club for sale requires getting the house in order.

The search for a coach and how we go about selecting the coach will tell a story as will who is appointed... for me player recruitment especially juniors has been critical in our success to date with TW as TD and scouting for kids to me seems a good step as is keeping Hutch in a junior coaching role next season..

Also all the stories about the media deal being brought forward a year and given this is the second year of the four year deal means within 16 months or so we could have a new media deal and more money... even if not we are just over two years from the next MD ..

BTW we got 6K in the worst time slot, twas 80% humidity and the beaches, lakes and rivers were calling, we have had a month from Hell and yet the Roar from a city of 2 million in a hot vein of form 12 K, me things PG next week in top of the table clash with a population of 1.7 million will be lucky to get over 12K... so next time someone starts up on our crowds tell em to get their own house in order ...

Average on Sundays this year has been 6.4k. City don't draw big numbers. No worries there. We'll get another similar crowd vs Perth.

Average for Saturday nights is close to 10k (though two derbies help!), and we've got the game against WSW to come, and I'd be enormously surprised if we don't draw 12k or more for that, so our average for games that member passes worked for at CCS will be ~8k.

That's not terrible.

Keep in mind that the game against WSW is Hutch's last game. If we have a couple of stirring performances between now and then, and the promotion for the game is good, I'd say 15K is not unreasonable.

True dat.

In fact, it might be time for the club to start whispering "sell-out" and promoing that game as a must-see event to farewell our greatest Mariners player.

Well it's a 7.30pm game Saturday 11/4 so I'll be there. Wouldn't miss it. The only worry is when those bloody RBB'ers start jumping up and down in the Eastern stand. Made the whole stand look like it was if SF during an earthquake. Hate to say it but I hope security put a cap on the jumping up and down. It was quite frightening last time WSW were at CCS. A whole lot of CCM fans started to get out of the stand when it started to bounce up and down. It looked like the overhead speakers would come down.

Peter Storrie will be on Soccer Stoppage Time tonight. Should be a good listen. Those guys usually aren't afraid to ask the hard questions.

There were also trial games on at most local clubs as well...

Just listened to Storrie on SST. Was interesting that he thought marque players are imperative to building the fan base. He did however say Ferreira is one of those types of players. Storie really sounds like he knows what he is doing and is saying all the right things so far. Hopefully all the talk end with good action.

I heard the interview tonight. I like what Storrie had to say. My only criticism was that they never addressed the moving games to Sydney issue.

The 3 main issues Storrie identified were:
  • Communication - with Council, CCF and community. Says relationship with all 3 have vastly improved… I think he said "fixed"???
  • Football operations - on and off the field. Style of play, youth system etc
  • Marketing, promotion etc.
They usually post a podcast sometime on Tuesday. Someone will post a link on here I'm sure.

There are some good sounds in that, and reworking the corporate packages is a very good idea. The stadium itself is poorly suited to good corporate service though, and there's not a lot we can do about that.

Making it work in Gosford is where I'm happy!

Storrie has done a better job in 1 month then Bruce did in 18 months. He has been clear and concise. Also actually seems like he has an understanding of what he's talking about and has been able to quickly identify flaws in our operation.

Let's hope his plans become reality
