Ok got back home about an hour ago. lets see

WTF was with the Melbourne weather. Hail FFS. Wineries are alright down there but the cafe near the windsor is hopeless.
Good turn out for us down there. And yes the Royal lived up to the reputation.
Melbournites really need to buy a compass and a UBD or at least get Google Earth.
I still can't believe Kane and Sym drove down. Flights FTW
The less said about the game the better I think

Greenpole did you end up getting your Fry up?

Very cold( It's supposed to be spring right going into summer right?) and didn't really get better at any point. All I can say was thankfully I spent most of it inside either a bus, a winery or anywhere warm

TBH this morning wasn't a hell of a lot better.

Put up or shut up Serious - just what did Hutch and Wilko do to fail in your obviously jaundiced view?

Whoa oh, the "can't have a negative opinion about players on the team" police have struck.......

Wilko - aside from one game this season, has been horridly out of form, and when your captain is out of form, it's going to affect the rest of the team whether you want it to or not.  My sneaking suspicion is that it's his knee, but either way, he needs a spell on the bench to either sort the knee out or get it into his head that:

i).  Most recent prominent example - Archie's goal last night, look at the replay.  Where was the diligent captain and _CENTRE F*CKING BACK_ WHOSE PRIMARY ROLE IS TO DEFEND THE CENTRE OF THE FIELD IN FRONT OF THE GOALIE??   Off in the background having given up the chase when Archie was still 25 yards out, hands on hips.  It was left to Porter (the _right_ back) to make a darn decent fist of his chase.  Alas it wasn't enough, but both Boogs and Wilko can be blamed for this one.   The reason I'm not singling Boogs out is that this is far from the first time this season Wilko has had this happen to him.

ii).  His current positional play is terrible.  So many times last night (and all this season) I noticed that he was dragging Boogs over and Jedi back because he was in the wrong spot.  Seriously, Jedi is doing the work of three players at the moment, and it's starting to affect his primary role (which quite obviously is DM, not CB).

iii).  He does not go in for challenges anymore.  Three separate occasions last night I noted that he stood off players (Thompson twice and I think it was Hernandez, may have been Fabiano) for a solid 20/30m whilst they ran at him - suckered him in they did.  It was the mistake of an Under 8's player, not a full time professional and our captain.

iv).  Surely you cannot deny that a captain low on form would not impact the rest of the team.  When we concede a goal, and you look to the captain to lift you and inspire you, and he's however-far-behind-he-was where he's supposed to be, hands on hips and a clueless look on his face, then wouldn't you start to feel a bit 'eh' about the whole situation??

Now, as for our mate Hutcho......

i). When we play the ball on the ground, about 60, 70% of our attacking play goes through the CM position, which Hutcho currently occupies.  Now, when 95% of the time, he either passes it back, hoofs it high (ineffectually), or does that insufferable "turn-on-the-spot-and-fall-over" thing that the referees no longer fall for (most of the time), then it disrupts the momentum of the entire attack.  Essentially, when the crux point of an entire attacking movement is shit at attacking, then won't the attack crumble??

ii).  I dunno if he's carrying an injury as well, but he's lost a solid couple of yards of pace since V1.  I know that happens with players getting older and all that, but when you have a ready made replacement on the bench who is _hungry_ to get on the field (Gumps, as he showed last night), then why not use him??   All personal off field bullshit aside??

iii). Hutcho's corners and freekicks are _rubbish_.  Yes, one led to our goal last night, but guess what??  Theo had 18 or so people infront of him, and the ball suprised him with what I figured was about 0.2 seconds of sight before he moved to save it.   CORNERS ARE A SOLID ATTACKING PLATFORM AND MUST BE EXPLOITED.   When one whole side of the corner taking option can't get his kick past the first man, or floats it so far over everyone that it goes out, wouldn't you explore another option??

Shall I go on??

P.S.   Fair enough Greenpole, but I caught the replay on the hotel Foxtel this morning, hence my actual anger, not 'in ground anger'.    ;)

You can have a negative opinion.

Just as I can have an opinion that you have have become so biased in your views you fail to see the game clearly.

Do you enjoy watching a game?

With respect to the free kick - watch the replays more closely. Clearly, Theo simply couldn't cope with the inch perfect swerve and placement Hutcho continues to provide from dead ball situations.

Brett - so you're not disputing the points I've made, but I'm still wrong in what I'm saying??  And because I don't have the coaches phone number and get all the inside knowledge (wtf??) I know f*ck all about the team??  Mate, I think you might want to take the rose colored glasses off and _step back_ from the whole situation and try and analyse it as neutrally as possible.

Perm - Pretty sure I said Wilko played good a few weeks ago.  I think it was against both Adelaide (last week) and parts of the Sydney game??  Hence I havn't been on one of my "stir up the thought police" style rants for a while now.  Because he'd been improving??    But don't let facts get in the way of a good argument yeah??  ;D      As for Hutch, he's got a piss poor attitude off the field, a not much better one on it, he provides nothing for the team except a Spenny style back pass and an attack killing "fall on my ass in a lame attempt to win a free kick" special move.  I think my "Hutch-bashing" is entirely justified.    And like Greenpole said, this place is nothing compared to the Sydney forums.  Ffs, you post there!!!!    Surely you know what it's like?!?

Ursus - I _love_ watching football.  Quite frankly, there's not much more I enjoy doing in life. Hence I didn't jump on here Friday night and explode.  I _waited_ until I saw the replay on Fox the next day.  I wanted my rant to be as fair and balanced as possible, because I don't think there's a worse place in the world to watch football than Aisle 19 at the Telstra Dome.  ;)

Just to balance this out, and to also make it seem that Wilko and Hutch aren't my favourite bashing targets - I thought Caceres was rubbish on Friday night.  Melbourne completely marked him out of the game, they knew his play back to front, Tommy completely outplayed him in every way, and I even had a few choice words for him at times during the night.    I also found Mac Attack's play to be wanting at times, and his first touch poor for a lot of the game.  Some of that can be excused by the shithouse condition of the surface, but a lot of it was just a bit 'eh'.

"The thought police would get him just the same. He had committed--would have committed, even if he had never set pen to paper--the essential crime that contained all others in itself. Thoughtcrime, they called it".

I dont really read, care or buy into any of the tripe that is served in their post-match threads.

Poor attitude off the field? maybe a good explanation for his poor attitude towards fans and especially fans on this forum is the amount of shit he copps on here, the shit that was hurled at him from "The Balcony of Truth" and also the years of harrassing his girlfriend now Wife about how he has been playing on the field - dont let the facts get in the way of a good arguement yeah?! (wank). Maybe that explains his, and most of the teams, contempt towards alot of people in The Bay and on this forum.
I would love to see you introduce yourself to Hutch.

The Hutcho debate wont ever be won as both sides seem to have pretty much decided their views.

Personally, I dont care if he is a "jumped up tosser" or "life and soul of the team" TBH. I am only remotely interested in what he adds to CCM's ability to get 3 points.

We will be paying customers long after he (and the rest of the players have gone)

Seems little point in rehashing over and over.

Maybe we need to get Kwassie back so that the crowds usual target can resume his place?

One good thing (among many) about Matty is when he cops a bit of biff, he gets up and doesn't have a sook to his mother. Look at the elbow incident on Friday night. He also never goes to ground in the penalty area. Great example for the young kids to stop lolling about on the turf and play the damn game like a tough Central Coast born-and-bred bastard

Do you know the story? The REAL story? Maybe should get facts before commenting on something like this.

On the Melb-Syd thing; I grew up exactly halfway in-between, so I reckon I can comment with some knowledge:

1. You can swim at Sydney's beaches 12 months of the year; you have to be a Polar Bear or Walrus to do so in Melbourne.

2. MCG is magnificent. SCG is very good, so is SFS. Docklands is great for AFL, maybe not for football

3. Melbourne's shopping is EXCELLENT. Sydney's is very good.

4. Both have world-class restaurants.

5. Sydney Harbour is exquisite. Port Phillip Bay is ordinary at best.

6. The atmosphere at sporting events in Melbourne is GREAT; not the case in Sydney.

7. Melbourne's Public Transport is good, Sydney's is average.

8. Melbourne traffic (excepting hook turns) is manageable; Sydney, help me, please!!!

9. Sydney's climate is very good, especially in winter. Melbourne can be very bleak, and surprisingly cool in summer.

10. I feel safe in Melbourne. I live in Auburn and work in Ultimo; nuff said

Overall, they are both good places. I regret the fact I have never lived in Melbourne, but I do NOT regret living in Sydney for one second.

Melbourne SLIGHTLY shades Sydney due to the MCG, ease of transport and the fact that Carlton AFC rock my world.

We all blame Hutchinson for that. He was in Melbourne at the time.  ;) ;D
The Roar fans are blaming all the bad weather they have in Brisbane lately on Reinaldo. ;D

The facts from who?

An impartial third party?

What happened in the eyes of one side or the other are not facts. They are a story which has another side.
