i wonder what it will take for kosmina and a few sydney fans to admit that the best team last was in white. kossie claimed that his sidie could have scored 6 or 7. what game was he watching? i come out of that thinking sydney a very lucky. if their keeper was not on fire it would have been a big win to the mariners. i hate this whole we were more creative and they were orthodox. boo f**king hoo. pisses me off when this club does not get the credit it deserves.

and if those sydney fans dont come back for their next home game then they are a bunch of f**king sooks

and one more thing, the defence played well. its just those lapses that just seem to happen this year. all of sydneys goals were excellent, and they only had 4 or 5 real decent chances compared to the plethora of chances and near misses our boys had created.

[/quote] Nice work Marinators. Sorry I couldn't make it to make it even louder. Must do better next time. [quote author=marinerbhoy said:

Yeh, Kozzie clearly has no idea. Apart from those 2 awesome strikes from SFC which definitely deserved goals, it could well have been 2-0 to the Mariners at half time such was our performance in the first half.

In terms of individual ratings

Danny - Nothing he could do about any of the goals, probably not as strong as we have seen him play (a number of high balls that he did not come for in area) - 7/10

Porter - Not a RB but he played well in attack. He really is a Midfielder not an RB - 6/10

Pedj - Strong game - shame about the Head knock as that probably affected him for the second goal - 7/10

Wilko - didn't do much wrong - getting better each game - 6/10

O'Grady - HAL has passed him by - 4/10

Hutcho - Still playing below his best - needs to sit on the bench or get in the room of many mirrors - 4/10

Carchairarse - Does a lot of good (and some not so) but he is looking like a good pick up for us and getting better each week (in terms of cohesion with team mates) - 6/10

Jedi - Strong in defense but he seemed to constantly take the wrong option in attack - to many little dinks or chips still great game - 7/10

Sasho - dumb dive but I am amazed at his work rate this year - guess who is playing for a contract - 7/10

Dylan - Big threat in the first half - not so much second half - 6/10

Matty - What can you say about this guy. Honestly he frustrated us so much last year - this year wow. I thought he was gone when he had that knee twist but he gets up and scores a second. Always putting himself in good spots..... 7/10

Reserves

D'Apuzzo - Scares me but he is young and was good in pre season - hopefully he gets some of that form back - 3/10

Nick - well he is only half fit but he still has good touch. What I was thinking was noway he and Sash can play at the same time - both toooooo similar....5/10

Ozzie - not on long enough to make an impact

Thats how I saw it. Jedi, Pedj the stand outs in a very much a team performance...

The way we chanted and barracked for the team a few of the people that sat in the stand said we song the best ever in the last 20 min.
I was proud to be a marinator at the end. :eek:verhead: :eek:verhead:

The defence is still shit but
The attack midfield we are the best in the league.

I've seen a few ppl comment that Prentice stomped Simon. Can anyone confirm when it happened so I can find it on the Foxtel IQ?

Home from Sydney about half an hour ago. Went to the game with a couple of $FC supporters who I also stayed with overnight and given my joyous post match mood compared to their gloom, you wouldnt think the game had been a draw.

Standing on my seat at the end of the game applauding the team was one of my proudest moments as a Mariners supporter.

That $ydney were 2-0 up at half time was a travesty. Mariners 3-0 down early in the 2nd half unbelievable, $ydney saved by their goalie. To then watch our team score 3 goals and almost win the game (if only that shot from Matty hadnt bounced quite so high after hitting the ground) was a football moment that I wont forget for a long time. We also missed being paid a penalty from a blatant handball that happened right in front of me in the 2nd half.

To all you Marinators - you sounded magnificent. I was sitting just around from you on the Western side and you sang loud and proud for all but that awful few minutes after $ydney scored their 3rd goal. "3-0 and you f**ked it up" was heard loud and clear by all the $FC supporters around me.

Matty Simon you are a star. Everytime you ran that ball down the right hand side in the 2nd half my $FC mates were shitting themselves.

I enjoyed giving Aloi$i heaps and none of the $FC supporters around me could argue against it. They have picked up the most expensive lemon in the history of Australian football - sucked in!!!  Walking away from the stadium I joined in with an $FC fan who was getting stuck into Aloi$i as well. It's no coincidence that momentum really turned when Aloi$i came onto the ground. The man is poision. :piralaugh:

You've gotta love Mariners v $Fc games, almost always great games. I dont hate $ydney (unlike the Jets), but I hate Kossie and Aloi$i and I really love beating $ydney.

Thanks Dru. Checked it out and it does look like there is intent to put the studs into Simon's back whilst he is on the ground. Pretty ugly stuff from Prentice although Simon is such a tough bugger he wasn't too phased.

Thats a pretty fair assessment jaypee.

Marks for Hutcho and Stringers are too high IMHO. They were both terrible and pretty much reduced us to 9 men in 1st half.

Dylan looked knackered towards the end as well.

I remember a little bit more then last week :innocent:

If u look closer, it looks like mrdja pushes the keeper over to create the equalizer. however, the keeper did fall over..and your bound to get knocked down if your standing that close to the hulk..
imo- dont bother standing that close to mrdja because he'll have u flat on your back everytime.

The sequence that led to Matt Simon's first strike was classy, with a lovely, deft final pass from Hutch.

Certainly for two of our three goals, we did not shut down the Bling, an error that was ruthlessly exploited.

Sydney are a different team when Corica either runs out of gas, is shut down OR, as may have happened last night, a realignment to accommodate Aloi$i makes him virtually redundant. I said to Fish last night that it would have been GREAT to watch Corica in his absolute prime.

Greenpole also made the point that Corica runs out of juice in the crucial last quarter of the game, which is when a rampant Jedinak ran riot.

Porter had a much happier game last night, proving effective on the right wing, an area that Sydney seemingly ignored.

Can someone definitively say if the second half penalty shout was justified? The Fox Sports highlights contain no footage of the incident, unfortunately.

I keep waiting for Caceres to absolutely explode in a match. He has pace, skill, brains and endeavour. He could quite honestly score a hat-trick inside 10 minutes if he puts it all together.

I still see a need for O'Grady's services. Admittedly, he is not fast, but his aerial presence is strong and I felt he was good against the Scum (he played like a desperate man trying to prove his worth).

Being at the SFS is still GREAT fun. Our Bay was rocking last night, and you know you have a fair team when people are still hopeful at 0-3 after 60 minutes.

KB, we OWN that place. Bar Staff love us, must be a good thing (or they are seriously demented!!).

Our game against Adelaide is MASSIVE. We have to exploit their tiredness and run them off their feet. One hopes that Mrdja does a whole stack of extra fitness work this week, either in the pool or doing the dreaded shuttle sprints over and over.

This season has much promise for our Mariners, both in the A-League and in the Far East.
