We should never have been 3-0 down TBH, the number of chances we created in the 1st half, it should have been 3-3.

That squad tonight is missing Heff, Boogs, Clarkie, Owens and Gumps - and Nik is only 1/2 fit at best.

If we can limp into 3rd or 4th, and get a full strength side out, we can beat anyone.

We could take the field (at some point) with:

Danny
Wilko Pedj Boogs Heff
Caceres Jedi Owens
Matty Nik Dylan

With a bench of:

Nash Clarkie Porter Saso

Thats a F***ing great squad .......... no room for Grumpy .......... I would have him there he has great touch and in the final 15 mins of a match his experience could be valuable.

Down 3 against Adelaide.. come back to draw

down 3 against Sydney- come back to draw.

What strength, determination and character our team has!
Kossie is a f**king wanker.
Aloisi is a useless twat.

MATTTTY SIMMMMONNNNN ON 7 GOALS :O:O

Danny...bad game. Nearly conceeded 4 goals and not up to his usual brilliant standard.

Hutcho...crap game did nothing.
.

Yer, danny had a few ordinary moments with the worst moment being the 3rd Sydney goal. But he improved from there on and made some superb saves. If the defence was there then he wouldn't need to be bagged out on.

Hutch performed ok in my opinion, and if he did nothing then the last simons goal wouldn't have been scored.

Great game lads. cant wait for the return match at bluetongue. :vhappy:

A truly amazing game. The Mariners show tremendous powers of recovery, being able to do this twice in a season! Still, a gap does exist between the top 3 and the rest, whether you'll close that remains to be seen. Sunday's games sees teams below you playing and possibly snapping at your heels.

Wow, wonder if we will go better when we have more than half our best side and a few kids?

Adelaide are brittle, MV are to inconsistent and Sydney are coached by a complete tool.

Bloody hell, you must be some keeper yourself if you think Danny was in anyway at fault with those 3 goals.

Totally agree nothing Danny could have done for any of the goals

Sheesh, tough marker - that 3rd goal was a rocket and it came at Danny through a crowd of players - he had no chance

Some good points boys...i also spotted the stomp on Simon. Mrdja should also have had the penalty but no way sasho's was a penalty....but if he had dived when he was tapped he may have conned the ref into giving one...the pathetic dive once he realised he had lost the ball deserved a yellow.

My opinions:

Christ we are a gutsy team with a massive amount of self belief. We also have the most potent strike force in HAL.  The achilies heel is our defence which is still woeful.  Bojic is superb (but showed too much space on the first goal) and escapes criticism.  O'Grady is simply too slow.
Wilko still fails to close down and allows attacks to open up before him.  Porter is good getting forward and set up the 2nd goal brilliantly but still has no idea about marking HOWEVER he did make a crucial challenge in the last 2 mins which shows me that could make a decent makeshift defender but for mine fullback is a specialist posistion.
D'Appuzzo looks  very shaky.

Danny...bad game. Nearly conceeded 4 goals and not up to his usual brilliant standard.

Hutcho...crap game did nothing.
Caceras...one superb shot but apart from that only average tonight.
Jedi....good as usual...drove forward brilliantly for the 3rd goal..Tied with Simon for MOM.

Simon....what a handful. Good game.
Macca...did some great things.
Sasho...worked hard.
Mrdja...great goal and showed lovely control.
Our Defence yes I agree and we did have some structure when Bozza was in Goals because he was a leader from the back Danny good 1m stopper but if you shoot from outside the 6 yard box they will all go in ,look at his position play at all the goals. Bring Bozza on the bench to direct the defence while the gaffa is directing the show and we wont loose so many goals.

Think he was with the yoof side.

I tho he was on trial for a contract .....so he has to earn a place tho the youth league to main squad I guess then prove his worth. TBH he experience may have helped tonight our backs need someone to do the calling.

Anyone watch the youth game and see how .....Mendera...... played as we could do with some experience at the back.

Also what the hell did the smurfs have to do to get a yellow card, a player gets his legs taken out in mid air and no card.

. and the card that jedi copped was a joke ... he only got ball, then his opposite (can't remember who) slid in and got him in the ankle ... jedi's reward? a yellow card - joke!

. sash's could be argued either way (with the justified side probably winning the argument)

. hutchi's was a very smart one to get ... one of at least two things he did right last night

. i admit i am usually pretty defensive of our defence  ::) and again i don't think they were that bad last night ... but agree bozza probably added more to our defensive line than danny ever will

. considering the personnel we had in there and the changes we had to make thoughout the game sydney rarely had a decent chance (including their goals really). musialik's was their best  :piralaugh:

. most will agree porter is not a right back (but what was the alternative - ossie is not in world's best form). he could be faulted for their first but added so much else. some of his crosses can still be hit and miss but the ball for nik's goal and its lead-up were fantastic plus his corners were probably the best i have ever seen from the mariners

. wilko, i think, had one of those games where he wasn't a standout but didn't really do a lot wrong

. pedj, like i said - ledj. could be blamed for their second but i reckon his brain was still scrambled and he didn't get any support ... but the guy has guts and is consistently our best defender

. o'grady was great last week , he was really struggling last night ... and was taken off

. d'apuzzo had a tough gig coming into that game and i thought he did alright. sometimes he commits too early but the youth league has been great for him and he should continue to improve

For those taking Danny to task, pull your head in. He was beaten by three great strikes, end of story.

What a great night! I ventured down the F3 after much deliberation and I am glad I made the effort. It was a sensational night of football, I only wish more supporters from both clubs made it to the game.

Another gutsy effort from the boys, damn they make ya proud to be a Coastie. We will always be in with a chance in any game with the self belief these boys are carrying at the moment. Well done to Lawrie and his coaching staff.

A lot has been said, I won't repeat it here - a lot of it is obvious.

Congrats to Matt Simon who continues his rich run of form, keep slotting them in brother, you're doing us proud :D

Someone told me and I don't have Fox so don't know ......that Kossie was crying after the game ........ can anyone confirm this.
Kossie had the screaming shits at the end and was mouthing obcenities in the direction of the Mariners bench .Whether it was at the bench or the ref or what I don't know.

Typical Kossie showing his true class. He pissed off down the tunnel without shaking any hands from the Mariners bench.Even grumpy Merrick will still shake hands after a huge disapointment.

If anyone's looking for an excellent example of poor sportsmanship that was it.

A f**kin tosser.
