Round 6 Mariners V Heart

MF says bite me.
Nice.

In response to Kevrenor and chants issue...

It's a dream of mine to one day be in the BT stadium and revel in the procession of different chants that echo around the ground. As it stands, no one in general knows more than 3 clap mariners or lets go mariners... Chants which inate shitness... means their end is never too far behind their beginning.

Now I do understand it is not the direct responsibility of the active bay 16 supporters to get anyone else to do anything... and you already put in significant effort. so you can certainly just say well the onus is on them to come and learn at the bay... etc...

BUT the reality is that there are many groups scattered around the ground who would join in to known chants, if as Kevrenor said they knew what they were and they were given enough time to build and catch on.

As far as I'm concerned it's plain to see that while they do not have any responsibility to do so, the active supporters could also quite likely oversee and lead massive change in game day culture and make a quite incredible contribution to the future growth and active of support at the club.

I say approach the club to sponsor some cheap flyers. Or Gosford Council will do a 3000 print run for no charge for Not for profit orgs. (I was told this actually happened once, but I don't miss a home game and I've never received any such)
Anyhow, post on Here for 20 Volunteers to hand out prior to the game. (I'll stick up my hand.) with a quick blurb on what to say... re the flyer and what is trying to be achieved.

It's not a huge amount of effort. But it could have a huge impact.

Sorry to say but it's been done a couple of times. Doesn't work. Most of the flyers turn into paper planes.

Im not a chant, drink and sing kind of supporter, im just as passionate as the next but i prefer to sit there with my best mates, analyse the game, bag out who is playing shite, praise who is playing well and go crazy when we score a goal!

2-0 this weekend, heff and beechy will get the nerves and gift us a few chances

Mariners will break a few Hearts during the match...

The Mariners are the HEART of the Central Coast, so on Friday we'll have two hearts beating, but not as one. One heart will be lifted and one heart will be broken, and the Yellow Army will go home with their hearts overflowing....
Oh blah, who started this......?

Looking forward to hearing Bay 16 chanting "Faulty Bolty" in his ear as he picks the ball out of the back of the net (the inside of the net of course).

If me and my mates knew or could understand the chants we would.

We weren't that worried about being liked we were planning on sitting in the bay next to the away fans.

Just try & put youself in the opposition fans shoes. They will have travelled a fair way and probably should be allowed to cheer their side on in peace (relatively speaking). I noticed a few jokers hassling the MV fans last Friday and its not a great look. I know when we go up to EAS there's always a couple of dicks that come & try to sit in the away section & stir shit. That little dark haired nuggety bloke always seems pretty happy to accommodate them.

+1

I noticed on the replay some young kids waving mariners flags and running in between the victory supporters basically stiring shit. Some of it may be harmless enough but kids never know when enough is enough. If it was my kid, there would be no way that would be happening.

I wouldn't begrudge a victory supporter whos has paid for an away bay ticket, rightfully putting them in their place.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
hmmm....i dunno, how about a one off full page in the advocate with the "cleaner" chants on it.....that might just work

alex terra and rutger worm out for heart

looks like aloisi will start

Worm has been looking threatening for Heart lately and has warmed into the season well. Big loss for them as he has been delivering the ball into the box well and will form a good partnership with Aloisi as the season progresses IMO.

Glad that he is not playing.

Was more worried about Terra. THough we have much better pace at the back than in previous years.
As long as we don't get caught at a set piece. I think worst case scenario should be a point - with a win quite likely...

Two nil gain please.

Also I saw and agree about the kids in the away bay. Wouldn't want my kid there. Security shouldn't allow it.
Travelling fans deserve their measure of respect.

Re the chant flyers Jimmy, yeah I'd been told this had failed in the past. However I've never missed a home game since late V1, and I have never seen let alone been given a flyer?

So while it's commendable it's been tried, I'm not convinced it can of been too comprehensive. Also as a multiple business owner, just because something has not worked before certainly does not mean it can't succeed in the future. Like anything it depends on how it is done and then the timing is often the most critical aspect.

For me the timing seems right form what I observe at our games. A lot of people that seem more aware of active support and are clearly willing to chant/yell out seem to have spread around the ground now from what I experience. While I could be wrong, I would think that a few thousand yellow paper planes seems a reasonable risk to undertake again for the potential gain if it could succeed?

Also, I'm not having a go, but who knows, things may have been just about to really take root previously with the flyer runs, with another three or four runs reaching the tipping point and achieving the initial objective. Because as said, frankly I've never seen a flyer and nor have those around me.

Recky, chants coming up on the scoreboard throughout the game, is potentially an even better idea though I think. Great way to educate the crowd about football support and increase game day experience.

Hard to believe it that was a regular occurrence we wouldn't end up with chanting around the ground. The fact we get a significant portion chanting 3 clap proves people do WANT to chant. But this obviously will not happen while people cannot really hear or make out the chants.

Mariners 3 clap I can ever imagine the whole stadium singing.
If you want flyers handed out at the game, go for it. There's nothing stopping you.
People would get the shits with lyrics coming up on the screen during the game. Not everyone would. But I know I would. It's the only way I ever see the game.
The other problem is syncing the audio of the chant. If you want 16 to lead a chant it takes some time for the noise to get to the sideline which would obviously put them out of time. One way o trying to is this is playing the chant over the speakers. But that'd be f**king annoying. Not to mention we don't have speakers in 16.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love to hear the whole stadium chanting a couple of songs. I'm just trying to be realistic about the whole thing.

Lets get everyone in Bay 16 singing before we worry about the rest of the stadium. Basically most people in bay minus the coasties were only singing cause we were winning.
