ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The g/f and i will be there for sure. Should only be a 3 hour trip; 2 if there aren't any coppers :>

With the usual Flow of traffic heading to the ski fields on the friday night I would be very surprised if they aren't out in force. Watch the road works, heard a story of someone seeing about ten cars pulled over in a works zone (on the M2) 8 days ago.

Dont forget there are speed cameras/lights galore in the A.C.T you will pass at least two in the five minutes driving from the border of the A.C.T to the stadium.

Just out of curiosity... has anyone at all raised their thoughts to the CCM directly?

I am sure they dont troll this medium seeking feedback from members.

Oh really? I think they tend to have a quick look every now and then. How else could Lyall have made the statements he made about 'cleaning out the closet' during the final phases of the ACL campaign, & how the fans were not happy, if someone within the club hadn't checked here.

I doubt they got a lot of calls from ticket holders giving them a piece of their mind about the way the Mariners were going in that campaign, but certainly a lot of us were making things known here.

just a thought. . . .on the other hand, the canberrans could come out in numbers, to show the
capacity they have for a viable supporter base for an A league franchise down there,
which fancy that might just be the reason Mariners are doing such a thing,
if so GREAT!!!, its just i cant make the KO in time im def there for the next one
i fail to see how a national league can not have a capitals team involved

Ticker.    None.

Go back to your GP and ask him to increase the medication Ursus, it ain't working. ;)

Being an ex-Spirit supporter you'd love for the Mariners to become wandering whores for the good of the game wouldn't you? Maybe they'd end up at Pittwater Park and it would all be a large case of de ja vu for you. Oh, Happy Days. NOT

The folks you are lumping shit on, well most of them spent some serious $$ going to the Brisbane game either staying overnight or returning on the day to make a local game they were committed to. Some of whom also travelled as far as China or Japan to see a Mariners game.

To allege these folks have no ticker is an insult mate. Hopefully, they'll let you know how they feel the next time your paths cross.

These same folks believe in the idea of a LOCAL team, which is what all that talk about 'community engagement' was about when Lyall was in the media when the Mariners first started. Remember that?

The fact they are playing in Canberra, for what was SUPPOSED to be a home game, under spurious circumstances not yet properly explained by the club or the FFA, makes them feel let down by all that hype about the community and the Mariners.

Personally, I cannot make the Canberra game due to it being on a Friday & us (my missus and I go to games together) not being able to make the airport in time from work.

But I'll be damned if I am going to call a day off when the circumstances do not appear to be in the best interests of the Central Coast community.

My argument is not with people not going, it is with those encouraging a boycott.

As well as being for the financial betterment and part of having a special relationship with another area, it is also to allow THE SURFACE AT BLUETONGUE TO BE FIXED. Any of you who have WATCHED the games this year can see that while it is green it is still crap.

Buy no, it is all a secret plan to move the club or "how dare they move my home game".

If you can't or chose not to go, fine. But do not discourage those, who are prepared to support the club, with half baked conspiracy theories.

Shit happens, deal with it.

Ursus.

My argument is more - how you put it - "How dare they move my home game", and I have not encouraged people to boycott but rather voiced my opinion. Am I not allowed to voice my opinion?

There is a lot lost about the real reason behind the club allowing the move, when the first time it is mentioned is when the draw was coming out, then hey presto, two rounds were 'tba'.

Then there was a dribble of info about the pitch being stuffed, then questions and speculation about where it was being played, folks hoping for Parramatta Stadium or some place closer to use. Then, bam, Lyall is quoted in Canberra press how lovely it would be to stage an A-League game here and then the announcement we have to travel to Canberra.

No consultation with 'members', no consultation with the unofficial supporters group - the Marinators, no press prior to the draw. And then after that, very poorly managed as far as the dissemination of info is concerned. I bet there's some 'members' who don't even realise these games in Canberra were supposed to be extra home games.

So, if the club or anyone else - that's you included - think that there's some conspiracy theories being floated around, it is maybe because the club has poorly managed the communications about these games and why the match is being played in Canberra. The releases giving reasons are so full of diplomatic speak that is smacks of a cover up.

And even if I did want to encourage a boycott, what's wrong with using this medium to canvass that encouragement?

The other issue is: Is this likely to happen in the future? My own opinion is yes. If we bent over, said nothing and all drudged ourselves down to Canberra without a whimper, the club would be very keen to stage it again.

But now, at least, they know there's some resistance to making the club gypsies, and until the Crusty Demons come again next year, we'll play the remaining games at home at Bluetongue. If the Crusty Demons show buggers up the drainage again, we'll be back to square one and will be having this argument again next year.

As much as I hate the place I'd probably go down if this was an 'away' fixture against a Canberra side.

But I'm so against moving home games there is no way I'm going to give them any encouragement to do it again.

At home we would expect to pick up max points and play accordingly against these teams.....down there two draws will probably be deemed to be good results.

If we lose the league or miss a 'post season cup' spot by a couple of points I know who's getting the blame!

Where's everyone drinking before the game? (The ones going to Canberra, that is...)

i tend to agree with you.
i know this has been said before but having the game on a Friday and having the game 3 hours away (depending on how you drive) really doesn't help us with work/Accommodation.

and it's a home game... i hope they really make Bluetounge took like good when they are finished :)

I think the best option is the lighthouse bar in Belconnen, thats where myself + other Uni students going to the game and supporting the Mariners will be drinking ( starting at 2 ish ) .

They may,
but if the return from Canberra, in terms of juniors coming to the Mariners, through the "special relationship" rather than going to SFC or Melbourne, is seen to be worthwhile, I do not think a few grumblers on this forum will worry them.
