I got to watch first 10 mins on telly before being dragged off to Wyong races.

3 observations in first 10.

1. Stella did well so he has some talent.....im keen to view the rest if his game.

2. Micky Neill showed his strengths and weakness. First he get skinned terribly, showing he is not a FB. Then he brings out the ball at pace and feeds a very nice ball for Austin. Reinforcing that he is better in the midfield.

3. Around 9 min, we nearly conceed from a corner, by failing to pick up and defend from the player. Posc is main culprit, but most players were too loose.
Castelan misses easy chance.

I'll watch the rest and see what else sticks out.

Why do I feel like, by losing, we've lost a big chance to increase our crowds for the next few games?

It really depends on how many of those coming through the gate are paying anyway. I thought it was a poor crowd on Saturday, considering the kids got in free with an adult.
I'm sure there would have been quite a few kids who didn't pay.

I don't think crowd wise it matters we lost. Hopefully people will hear about the Garcia effect
and get on the bandwagon. I spoke to two blokes yesterday who didn't go on Saturday but would be taking their kids to the next game.

Yeah - I think it was clear from Tesco left, that we needed someone to "chatter" and organise the defence. He had early promises of being able to, but I think it's clear now that he's a follower, not a leader.
Nothing wrong with that, but it's not what we needed.

Posco is taking on a bit of that, increasingly I think... And while I'd much prefer for Wilko to come back and maybe be able to setup either something like

Storm--Posco--Wilko--Rosie/Neil

Or

Posco--Wilko--Ascroft--Rosie/Neil

It seems to me like CB is becoming less and less of an issue for us... I'm MUCH more concerned about FB... For goalie, the options are there and, as I stated earlier, I even think Izzo had improved out of sight for this game, although he wasn't tested too harshly in spite of everything and it probably doesn't say much anyway.

It feels a bit like something actually HAS changed, since the New Years Eve game and Fitzy/Caceres going... It feels like they're playing much more as a team again, meaning that they're also committing more.
Based on that, in a sense, I'm not too stressed about giving Storm a chance to come good again and for Neil to pick up... I'd prefer Neil in MF though tbh, but we don't have much to make do with.
It's probably only because I don't see a great alternative but, I think Storm's done enough over his history with us, to warrant him being given some time to recover... I know this weekend wasn't a signle-standing moment, but I'm sort of impressed that he didn't fall completely apart after that goal. It was almost painful to watch his head drop when they scored off that back pass. A mate made the comment that he was sure to be doubting himself through the rest of the game and probably make more mistakes.. To his credit he seemed to work hard to claw back a goal in stead.
Essentially, I'm not convinced that we benefit more from Posco at FB than we do with him at CB... I think the loss of him in the middle might be costlier... If that makes sense.

I've only seen the sending off on the HAL crappy video.
From that I would think you'd see the same kind of challenge given a yellow in some games. Anyone seen it on Fox in better detail?

Even in Friday nights game a Brisbane player gave an Adelaide player an elbow to the back of the head and only got a yellow. PZ was sent off against MV a few years ago for a similar challenge.

Monty got in a tangle with Bridge a few times and was getting under their skin
I noticed this also, when Monty got sent Bridge ran to the sideline and high fived one of the trainers, maybe he knew which buttons to press courtesy of a former goal keeper?

For me it was a red both feet studs up an sliding the top leg missed everything and looked like the leg going after the ball... the bottom leg caught him... differently going for the ball but when you go studs up sliding you get the ball to give you some chance of staying on if you hit the other player...

Silly tackle as nothing was on...

Storm had a bad game. He's been good enough to stick with overall. He wasn't the only one who had an off night

Storm had been playing better in last couple of weeks.

Just put it down to inconsistency of youth and good game plan by WSW.

Posco not a RB, TW was raving about his past to weeks performances, which I agree with.

Posco has nosed in front as No1 CB for me

Just on the PZ send off... That was his second yellow in that match - it wasn't a straight red :D That was one heck of a game..

Dunno, but Jamieson was behaving the right grub... Trying to get in Monty's face etc. etc.

Not a worry mate :) That game was probably one of the most exciting A-league games I've seen... Stands very clear in my memory... If it hadn't been for Patty getting sent off, we would have smashed 'em... As it stood, I couldn't believe that we made it through a tie...
Bojic made an extraordinary save, ON the goal line - total reaction... He had no right knowing anything about that ball, but he had it.

Absolutely. There's nothing special about the keeper. You could sub an outfielder on to be keeper if you felt like it, you just need to have a player (*any* player) nominated to be the keeper at all times.

It's a funny ole thing... From where I was sitting, I didn't think there was ever any real danger with the studs, it looked to me like he actually worked hard to turn his feed away and ended up collecting more with the shins.
I just watched the replay and it still looks like that to me... People referring to it as "Muscat-esque" are way over the top for mine... I think it was a bad call, not even sure I feel that it's excused by the ref who was in a position to see the bottom of both his boots.
Once that's said, I'd expect the MRP to keep it... Not much to be gained from starting another discussion about these things, when borderline reds are given all the time.
