ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Round 14 v Meow

Ahh

Id like to hear a logical reason as to the constant playing of Porter at right back and Oz at right mid, not other way round

not that i agree with it but the logical reason is that porter can come from a deeper position and not be marked when he makes his runs

also, lawrie loves super fit and super mobile outside backs (heff, clarky, d'apuzzo) to make the overlapping runs and porter fits this bill perfectly

Wouldnt that formation look good with a fit again Greg Owens in it??

Appears we want to have some pace in the backs up against their flyers and not get outnumbered in MF.

OK, starting lineup:

------------danny----------------
porter----bojic---wilko----d'apuzzo
-------------mile-----------------
-----osman---------hutch--------
-------------caceras-------------
-------sasho--------dylan--------

bench: redders, gumps, clarky, mrdja

back to 442 and diamond midfield

less defensive pressure on hutch and mile so let's see if they shine in this one
No matty simon mick?

My focus will be more on the full backs. Without the three direct strikers to play to, and with quite narrow CMs, they will have to get forward and overlap. They're going to have to do this because I think it's gotta be easier to go around Tiatto, McKay and Murdocca than through them. If they can work some attacks without Zullo and Minniecon getting in behind them on the counter, we'll win. That's Qld's only avenue to goal (other than set pieces).

Further, and in addition to what Mick said, having more options coming from deeper will benefit Hutch because he'll have more options to steer the ball around to. I look forward to seeing this type of football from us, even if people blast the team for passing the ball sideways and or backwards every now and then.

Yep I was just thinking the same thing. That and every game bar the Bosnich game that I have attended this year we have drawn or lost. I will be at a function over the road tonight so we will probably win in the rain.
