ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

. i don't know, but i will have a wild guess:

.. fergie had miller come out here for, umm, we'll call it a trial
.. perhaps there was a range discussed to lure him out here
.. potential clearly identified, it came down to $
.. somebody controlling the purse strings decided the value wasn't there
.. since he was here, he had a quick look around
.. qld jumped at the chance

. close?

I hope Lawrie reverts to Matty, Dylan and Sash up front.  Keep Caceres in the middle with Jedi and Hutcho (I'd even consider benching Hutch as he's been average, but he does hold the ball up well).  Will be interesting to see who lines up at the back with Boogs being out, I imagine until Heff returns we'll continue to see Bojic on the left, I wasn't impressed with Tadrosse's debut tbh so would prefer to see Clarky come in along side Wilko, but he hasn't played for a while?

As previously said if we can control their pace we'll be ok, we always struggle when teams utilise their pace.

Jedinak also needs to be careful, I don't fancy him picking up a yellow card and then missing the Sydney game.  As solid and good as Jedinak is, he really needs to work on his distribution, some of his balls in recent weeks have been very disappointing.

We've never beaten QLD at home (except for PSC in 2005) so records show we struggle, we'll have to be at the top of our game to get a win.  Not sure which way to go tbh.

according to express advocate- bojic reckons he is playin CB
so I imagine
Porter/Clark          Wilko            Bojic              Tadrosse/D'Appuzo
apparently tadrosse is battling a shin injury :S

hmmm .. i see this being a tough game for us IMO ... Queensland seem to be coming good at the right end of the season.... while i think we have been hot and cold all season

The good thing is we've been picking up points even when not playing well.  If we can get some form and momentum going soon we'll be a force for any team.  Ever since our loss to Wellington we've been a little inconsistent, prior to that we were looking good.

Can someone explain why we get done on pace?  Not having a go at Clarkey cause I think he's great and one of my favourite Mariners, but everyone keeps saying how fab a fitness coach he is, and imagine what Miller could do under Clarkey's control etc etc.

If he's fantastic, how come pace is an issue?

Pace is something You are born with, If you don't have it, You won't have it.

You can 'coach' fitness but you can't do more than fine tune pace or perhaps technique ... if you are just slow you will always be slow no matter how fit

very, very true - but you can improve it with sprint technique training, specific weight training and conditioning

If the defenders have good positioning and can read the game and play, pace isn't always needed.

Pace isn't something you can train necessarily. It's just the players we have.

Our set up has big players up the front and down the back rather than lightning ones, and our midfield is more powerful/creative than zippy. Qld is the opposite: they have super-fast kids running around up front, and the M&Ms in the middle - Matt McKay and Massimo Murdocca - who perform dozens of short, sharp sprints throughout the game to make interceptions and win the ball back.

What we need to do is get a few passes together to move the ball away from those two, and try to work some space to play in. Especially for Adrian to do his magic in.

Because generally pace is something you naturally have not something that is trained. As a fitness coach (and not a sprint coach) he is working with the players natural pace and getting the fitness up so that thay can use it over a prolonged period with little drop in it's consistency. The two gennerally are a trade off (hence why 400m world records aren't 4 times the 100m record)

well, the FIFA09 result is in:

Mariners 1 (d-mac)
QLD 1 (van-shite)

bear in mind that FIFA09 has predicted 5 of the last 6 results and 2 of the last 6 scorelines
