Or we just take Kwas back and everyone can go back to picking on him?

Maybe this should go in the conspiracy theory thread but has anyone seen hutch and kwas in the same place this season? just putting it out there

Even "Disco Nik" seems to generate more affection from the crowd than Hutcho ..

Which fans are you talking about? ... I haven't noticed any loss of affection for him in Bay 7.  I think you move in too incestuous circles.

As well as that his treatment of the Squadrunts alone wins hearts.

Kev, bay 16 now LOVES Disco Nik, as you will notice if you listen to us on Saturday night at half time, when Mr Disco is warming up

Kev, you dont know me or the circles I move in so your incestious comment is not only insulting, its also wrong.

Still, tough to be get a correct view from such a high horse I expect.

Correct, I don't know you or your circles ... I am suggesting that your views may be reinforced rather than challenged, and that many others may not share your view.

You've challenged my supposition, which is fair enough.

As for the last para - sorry cannot work out what that means.

Sorry about my quote ... it wasn't about Nik it was about Hutch not being loved.

I think it is a good idea that I dont rise to this and will gladly bow out of this debate.

Challenge my views by all means but I am actually able to make up my own mind.

So what some of you are saying between the lines is that, the 433 formation needs to change to allow Jedi and Hutch some more space and time to adjust in the midfield.

i am not saying that

i think the 4-3-3 is working judging by our results since we have adopted - though i think teams are starting to work it out judging by recent results

all i am saying is that the system has put enormous strain on us defensively in the midfield and both jedi and hutch have both suffered with their games

jedi has suffered less because he is just an incredible player

I can see why you say this but I am doing nothing of the sort.

I am arguing that the defensively midfielders have such an enormous work load that they are both sufferring in their form (aside from Mile's set pieces).

I am arguing that Mile is one of the best players in the A-league so he is barely achieving a pass mark at the moment.

I am arguing that, aside from Stu Musailik and Mile Jedinak probably, no player (in the mariners squad or at other teams) could achieve this sort of functionality under the system because it is so attacking.

I am arguing that Hutch is our best option in there because GPS tracking proves he has one of the highest workrates in the team and without him being there we would be swamped more.

And finally, I am arguing that Hutch is the heart and soul of the club and that his value on and off the park is far more than most people realise.

Interesting argument MM. If we're talking about fitness being the key, then what is stopping Clarkey replacing Hutch in midfield? He is our fittest player. However, I'm not sure he has the distribution skills for such a position. On the other hand, I'm not convinced that Hutch has got the type of distribution skills that we need with a 433 either. It frustrates me to see Hutch holding the ball up when we've got three up front - often a quick decision from Hutch would put our strikers in space and really test the opposition's defence but Hutcho turns, holds the ball up and pass back.

Couple of problems though. Isn't Clarkey best on the right? And, in my opinion, Porter is the man for the RM role. Would Clarkey be able to play LM?

Ahhh, buggered if I know. I'll leave it up to Lawrie :p

ok
how bout this for an idea
i got this from back in rd 2 against Syd FC???
after that match were we got owned in the midfield witht he absence of Jedinak we proposed (myself and sveral others) putting Bojic there to replace Jedi...
now just imagine Jedi + bojic holding our midfield- one word- WOW!
ofcourse we would miss Bojic's presence in defence but its something that needs to be considered- I say not right now (witht eh injuries we have)- but maybe later when Heff is back

                      Vukovic
Porter/Clark    Boogs    Wilko        Heff
                Jedi          Bojic
                      Caceres
Simon            Macca                Sasho

we would have strongest midfiled in comp IMO- but...we would be possibly comprimising our defence- althogh this formation is with all our regular defenders fit (ie. Clark + Heff)

EDIT: btw- we now have a 3rd CB + 2 reasonable candidates for wingbacks mayeb reconsider 3-4-3 (major reason was we had onyl one prime wingback- Heff)

                      Vukovic
          Boogs    Wilko      Bojic
Porter                Jedi                    Heff
                      Caceres
Simon            Macca                Sasho

good line ups but who would you have in boogs' spot after his injury

yer
well he is out for 6 weeks
I would have to say we need all hands (or in this case 'backs') on deck
ie. cant risk bojic in mids- woudl really need him in defence
although if u really wanted to for this weekend...
                        Vukovic
Porter    O'grady Wilko        D'Appuzzo
                Jedi          Bojic
                      Caceres
Simon            Macca                Sasho

but I have to lol at the thought of this formation as it would mean Wilko is the best defender easily in our back 4 (which is such a worry tbh) :p
my formation from before (either one of them) requires a fit Heff + Boogs

but anyway wioth another player capable of holding the midfield it would be of a tremendous benefit to Jedi taking off some pressure and allowing  him to be more assertive in the start of our attacking plays
I mean I think it is obvious that the 4-3-3 benefits almost every single player in the team bar Jedi ie. Jedi was playing a hell of a lot better in 4-4-2
all in all the current 4-3-3 is still better than 4-4-2 as it suits most of the team (our striekrs, Caceres in free role, full backs etc.)

As long as Heff aint in niether will be Bojic in the midfield but i like it   go0d job.

O'Grady should not be anywhere near a Mariners starting spot IMO
+ 1
hence why I the benfitis of bojic in the midfield (which would be owning the midfield battle) are easily outweighed  by the defensive inability of O'grady as well as Porter + D'Appuzzo whilst also considering Wilko's current form!
i guess these formations are a moot point until 6 weeks time when Boogs returns

EDIT: Besides
If Lawrie didnt think of putting Bojic in the midield when we needed him (ie in Sydney game when we had a fit Boogs + Wilko yet no Jedi), I doubt he will consider him with Jedi back in the fold
just a dream formation
NB: the 4-3-3 formation used to be a dream- until one day it came true- so u never know  ;)

sorry but I am a bit unsure of wat u r saying?
Either
1)If Heff aint in the mids- Bojic wont be
2) If Heff aint playin Bojic wont be in mids because he needs to be LB (O agree with this!)
