Rd 9 Mariners vs Fury

Exactly what I thought.... 1st one Matty had covered quite well and wouldn't have posed any risk.... McBreens though.... what a cracker!! :p

But technically I am 99% sure that doesn't constitute an own goal.
An own goal is when the ball was not heading towards goal (ie. out), and the defender hits it or deflects it towards goal. It's not an own goal, even if they deflection throws off the keeper.

I 100% agree that Ryan had it covered, but thats the way it is technically known as.

Well what a buzz that was. Great fun and a nice win as well. Heaps of fun on the pitch as well and i'm about to plant the turf souvenir in the front yard.

My thoughts...We started really well until Fury were lucky with a speculator and then we went into our shell again.

Second half was much better and we where smashing them until me went 2.1 up and as usual took the foot off the gas and started to back off and let them back in the game.

Once Daal got sent off we went for it big time and should have won by 2 or 3.

Ryan. 5. I don't think we can win the league with this boy in goals but he looks like one for the future.
Rose 6. Didn't look as confident as usual.
Wilko 7. Solid and actually went forward with the ball on a couple of occasions which was great to see.
Dutchy 7. Solid as ever and great winner.
Bojic. 7.5 Top game. Always dangerous and tough in the tackle.
Wee Mac 7.5. Brilliant second half and was a real handful when dribbling at pace. His best game of the year for mine.
Griffiths 6.5. Pretty solid and I would continue him instead of Hutcho.
Perez 8.0 My MOM. Great player. Even better than Gumpy in my eyes and thats saying something.
Olly 6.5. Pretty good game.
Simon 6. Tried hard.
McBreen 6. Tried hard but not his day.

Both strikers should have had a couple each.

Arnold 9. All good.

BTW what was with the two f-wits with the shocking hair cuts throwing beer and abusing the Marinators??
What a pair of tools!

Agree with everything you have said -and we are mad Gumps fans as well- except I think that Ryan is getting better every week as he gets more confidence. I think he needs to fine tune his timing though- my heart was in my mouth at times especially with Williams who I would love to have at our club. Didn't see anyone with shocking haircuts though oither than Fury players

Our little patch of Bluetongue is planted in our Umina front yard as well!!!!I'd love to see the pitch today.

They weren't happy with their limited view of the game, and expressed as much to one of the individuals there, who had a couple of choice words with them.

TBH what do you expect if you are sitting down in a designated 'active support' bay.

Crazy behaviour!

I had a word with them and then they got thrown out. I can only think they might have partaken of more than just beer!

Thats a f**ken joke that is. 1 world class save and another right up there and you mark him worse than our stikers who spurned point blank chances???

If it wasn't for him we may have lost that 4-3.

Matty was solid and had no chance on either goals. He will only get better over the course of the season and we have as much chance of winning the league with him as we had with Vanstratten.

think rose had a pretty good game .
Zwaanswijk is world class i can't believe he's 35.i've got to see the replay but he does a reverse back header thats was magic .the guy knows where the balls gunna be 5 minutes before it gets there and the finish with the winner .
weemac continues his good season.his precission pass to zwaanswijk head was top shelf
perez was outstanding .can't wait to see him play on something other than a bar of soap

What a great day/night. Spent the afternoon over in the club watching my beloved Magpies smash the 'Aints.
Then a mad rush across the road to watch my beloved Mariners win a great game of football in the rain. Great applause for both teams for a wonderful display, but very glad to keep the three points at home.

One of the greatest nights of my life. I can't even begin to describe it. All I can say is: 90 minutes, 9,000 emotions.

PS: Bojic man of the match for sure! He thought he was Ronaldinho with all his little traps and moves!

I dont remember any world class saves. Nothing I haven't seen 20 times a season by my keeper in O35B's.
I also felt although he was unlucky on the first his positioning and reactions on both goals was less than perfect.
I was at the game and can tell you I had my heart in my mouth of a few occassions. I'm not a keeper but his positioning looks suspect to me.
Maybe he deserved a 6 but no more. Pasfield looked a better keeper for mine.

I'm not a keeper - but was - and would place no blame on him for either goal. The times I had my heart in my mouth was in his clearances from back passes. Having said that, his kicking, distribution and handling of back passes have generally been of a higher standard than that of Danny. The save from Payne - low down to his right as it was going across him was world class.

The guy is young and will get better - certainly deserved a better rating than 5 - I would have given a 7.

I was to the left behind and gave one of em a clip round the ear when he threw the second beer and told them we are all Mariners fans together and to behave themselves.
At least they had Mariners Polo's on but threatening to bash and abusing your own fans is not on. I think they were just very drunk?
My daughter (who was not with me)said the security guards were rough with them when they threw them out.

Ryan's criticism is a little harsh given he conceeded two goals off a deflection and own goal. What's that, his 3rd goal conceeded this season? I think we have goodun' on our hands. I think he can improve a lot, especially when clearing the ball - he needs to speed it up, though for an 18 y.o., I don't think we can ask for much more from a kid who has the world at his feet.
