Oh, and forgot to mention:
Thursday night games are literally the stupidest idea in the history of mankind.

In hindsight, given I was watching the game on Foxtel Go on my mobile on the train, I kind of feel like spending an hour just rickrolling myself would have been a better use of my data....

I do sometimes wonder how certain clubs are managing to fit under the salary cap......

Or is it just that most clubs are coming in well under the cap?

Hmm, not sure you are right:

We are a shit side

We are indisputably the cheapest team in the League
We are, on average, a young, inexperienced side.
We seem to be a badly balanced side, youth vs. experience, in all areas of the park.

badly coached

Nah, too soon to call. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, or something like that. Gotta give the man and his team a bit of time to experiment with the talents we are able to afford, and to then do their stuff. And if after this season if their stuff isn't showing some promise then, and only then, would that comment be debatable, maybe. (imo)

the spoon beckons

Urrkk, Dunno. Maybe. Looks likely at this end of the season. But it's still early days in our big rebuilding, re-skilling season. Naturally I will be very disappointed if we do get the spoon. But hey, as an old NS Bears supporter I'm used to it. :(

Anyway, no need to get depressed about it. Onward and upward. COYY! :shoutclap:
Great post Yellow. My sentiments exactly, however painful this last week has been. Lets face it we must be the cheapest and youngest squad ever assembled in the leagues history. Add in a new playing style and new coach/assistant coach/strength and conditioning coach, and we are definately doing things the hard way. However, we will get progressively better as time goes on. I had a look at the side once Roy and Rosey came off and thought Posco must be the oldest player in our side. Most of the side are going through a very steep learning curve. They will make mistakes. If we keep this side together for a few seasons, this season we will finish close to last or get the spoon....but next season we will easily make the six and the season after the 4. The good times will return.

I remain hopeful - we show promise, Monty saves us about three goals a game I reckon, and missing Fab costs us as well.

The missing factor is positioning, passing accuracy and passing timing.

Chiefly Fitzy, overplays his hand on numerous occasions and fails to set anyone else up for a higher % chance.

Mitch gets the benefit of the doubt - for his youth , massive raw pace, but also his final pass often gets to space , but we are no where near it.

On quite a few occasions last night we turned the ball over from the back four - either poor passing , or too low a work rate from Cac, or Rose.

These elements I reckon TW can work on - but we just cant afford to miss our two best and most experienced players.

Optimistic about our future but I don't think I should be, what evidence do I have to think this team will improve to be able to contend with teams that gave Berisha, Brooch, Mooy.... all other teams can improve at the same rate and frankly we are starting from a much lower position.

Do you know how many years it's been of us saying Cacares will improve with experience..... hasn't really paid off has it?

I have no evidence that we will be able to compete with strong marquee based teams - however with our squad , I thought we could have beaten SFC, we had our chances against a Berisha less MVC and we werent embarrassed by the WSW.
Hence if we get more of these basics right, positioning , passing accuracy etc in place ( and for God's sake Fitzy stops trying to win it by himself ) then I think we can be competitive - I dont think we can win the premiership - we could be more a chance at winning the GF.

I think we do need more depth - but you are going to have to suck up some of these issues when we are so young and playing a new system.

I think Cac has been a lot better this season and playing in his natural #10 position - so I think he is improving - he needs the rest of the team to be working hard & smart as well.

Having said that - I am always the optimist. Hey is that the sun shining again!

At least we can't be too angry about the referee on this one - though the AR's were completely inept.....

Austin for MOM.

I like Stebre and, I have to say, it was sort of nice to come out of that not feeling like we waz robbed by the ref - feels like it's been a while.

Also, completely agree on Austin, I'm increasingly seeing that guy as a complete revelation, I don't understand htf he wasn't signed by someone earlier... Particularly interesting considering the guys sitting somewhere in my bay, yelling at TW to take him off :(

I suppose, the thing to bear in mind was that we were still short two of our starting 11 and arguably the two biggest names in our starting 11...
I would dearly like to see us score first again one day... I'm thinking the pressure on the defence looks completely different when we aren't forced to go all out - that might have made a difference... It's becoming hard to assess their qualities/lack-of-same when they have to commit everything that extra bit forward, every week, to at least try for the tie.
I'm not saying that we'd necessarily pull back, but I expect that there'd be a level of calmness settling into the game after going up, that might help spread the load a bit further...

Yeah - I had the same thought... As we were taking a thrashing anyway, I found myself tring to spot anyone over 25 at the end there... Not sure we had one did we? - How old is Mitch Austin?

I struggle a little bit with the whole Roy thing... For all of the butchered chances yesterday, he did also play quite a part in even creating quite a few of them and - I think - he's our top-scorer this season so far... I dunno what to think...

I need to start getting on that (I've only just worked out that podcasts are kinda cool. Somehow I've avoided them all this time)

Thank GOD! I thought I was the last one in - I'm only a recent convert too - figured I'd leave it till everyone else had... well... left ;)
It provides for a good bit of commuting entertainment, the Yellow Army podcast is a quite enjoyable and informative addition to the library I find :)

So list out our players who would start for one of the top 4 sides?

A side with 1 win in 9 and getting worse every week is by definition a shit side.

I don't like it any more than anyone else but the evidence is compelling

OK, back in Sawtelll from Gosford ... that is a seriously long train journey.

Did I enjoy my trip? - Yes
Was it worth it? - Yes, got to catch up with a few people (not as many as hoped due to Thurs night and the boycott). Enjoyed being at the stadium for live football - can't beat it. Watching TV is not the same. Nice to spend time on the coast. Nice to get into the Kendall Bar and hear the pre-game talk. Sorted membership card and supporters subs.
What did I think of the game? The team played in the first half to Walmsley's instructions - I'll give them that, and Ascroft did a fair job on Mooy until he ran out of legs. The first half was OK, it was just we couldn't hit the side of a barn and they were clinical. The second half - nearly spoiled the trip (won't say more).
See you sometime in the later rounds.

After 9 rounds it is time for a review. We have played the top 5 teams in 6 games and haven't got a point. We have played the 6th, 7th and 9th teams in 3 games for a total of 5 points. We have not played the 10th team at all.

That tells me that the remaining 18 rounds should be easier than the first 9 rounds. We will play the 6th,7th, 9th and 10th teams in half the games. These are the games that will tell us where we are.

Ok I've watched it on replay and FFC has a point.

We are not being well coached.....yes it's better than the drivel Moss served up but not by much. Defensively I have had my sons under 6s under better control.
Kariong u6 a v terrigal. 2 nil up at half time......dominant centre half.....can I play up front?......no son you are too important to the defence....if we score 10 you can..ok.
We win "6.0.
Everyone is happy.
Teach this lesson to Roux Tony.
Do you job first storm and Micky before you run around like we are already 2 nil up.
