If I see you next time we will have a straightener and I'll teach you not to act like Scum you maggot.

Shame because apart from that [deleted] most Squadrunts were reasonably behaved.

Were were very poor again and Scum were actually the better side which is alarming.

Our passing was abysmal.

Ryan 8. Dominant.
Pedj 6. Bombed forward but lack of quality at times was alarming.
Rose 6.5. Ditto
Dutchy 7.5 composed and very good. Long passing a bit sloppy.
Tesco 8. MOM. Great game.
Sterj 6. Should not be in starting 11.
Hutch 5. Started well then proceeded to nearly cost us two goals. Passing was terrible and he gave the ball away at least 5 times! Monty looked vastly superior when he came on.
Caceras 6. Some good climpses but ineffective. Clearly has some talent.
Olly 7. Worked hard and a decent game.
WeeMac 7.5. Brilliant but goes to pieces once he gets into the box.
McBreen 6. Passing was very bad which is normally his strength.

Active support was fantastic.

Trying desperately to find a silver lining. Maybe this is the mid season slump? It's good we can still pick up points playing so far below our best.

Quite a few comments above on selections - but the issues appear to be around movement and finding space. We just don't seem to be moving óff the ball' like we have been in the past, which gives defences time to be in our face, and passes go to players that are heavily marked.

No doubt Arnie will be working on it...

Tough game. Jest learnt from MV last week. Pressed hard and constantly looked to spoil, niggle, foul on the break and leave the foot in. In the wet it was even more effective than usual with more pressure being placed on first touches etc. You get that.

Personally, as per last week, I think under this kind of pressure, we MUST have mobile ball to feet players on, with more speed and energy amongst the attacking players in front of them.

Despite this, while we made mistakes, I still thought we showed some good passing passages, but imortantly lacked execution and the composure to hold possession in the other teams half.

Caceres showed some promise I thought, but will need to play with more confidence and energy to truly be impactful for us.

Agree thoroughly on Pedjs plastic boots. The way the ball comes off pedjs feet, he needs some nice soft leather. In the wet, it becomes paramount.

I love Kwas. But I'd rather see Duke.

I love Hutch but I'd rather see Monty next to Olly.

I don't love Mile, and I think we need to do better.

All in all, a draw was a fair result.

Best we all remember there are rarely easy games in the HAL. Though it would have been nice to be playing Welly this week.

Classic Jets fan behaviour - got punched in the head and a female friend pushed by a bunch of Jets fans out the front of workcover
Worst punch I've ever seen ...stood there after it happened and was like 'that's all?' and he walked off when I walked at him.
It upsets me that we can't go to a game and have a bit of banter without jets fan and probably mariners fans aswell acting like halfwits.
Cops at the time asked me if I wanted to press charges but I said no ...regretting it now.

Oh well
Horrible game we were very lucky - hope we pick it up next week !!

Just add a couple of things...

Hutch HHHHMMMMmmmm is it a bad patch now or was he in a purple patch early in the season but on the past two games should not be in the starting team..

Tesco & Dutchy ... without them I can only guess...

I have faith that GA can turn things around ....

My two cents on what we need to do...

Tesco to play the DM along side Olly with Zac along side Dutchy ... Caceras did not have the off the ball movement he needed... saw enough to say he is worth a few more times in the starting team...

Credit to the Jets

A night of frustration for the Mariners but full credit to the Jets who were well worthy of their hard-earned point.
After stories of his rich promise we got to see for the first time young Anthony Caceres who has been bossing the NYL all season; he took the no 10 role with Kwasnik relegated to the bench.
The Jets coach Gary von Egmond had done his homework and his team obeyed his instructions to the letter; they defended high, always on the front foot, cutting out the passing lanes of the Mariners midfield. The Mariner struggled to retain possession and the Jets threatened on the counter. Bojic didn’t help matters, having one of those games that have given him the nickname of bipolar.
Chances for both teams were few and far between in the tightly contested first half; Mat Ryan was supreme in the air and Sainsbury covered everything on the ground. With only McBreen as the recognised striker the Mariners struggled to create opportunities. The bulky Heskey had a couple of glancing headers and Bozanic hit a shot from distance over the bar.
Things warmed up in the closing minutes as the Jets threatened to force a goal: Ryan decisively punched clear a corner and then had to tip Brilliante’s half-volley over the bar with Heskey impeding his vision and then from the ensuing corner a tremendous clearing header from Sainsbury was again volleyed back into the area but the Mariners scrambled it clear. And then little Michael McGlinchey wriggled his way through but couldn’t get enough purchase on the shot allowing Birghitti to glove it over the bar. 0-0 at half-time but Ryan the busier keeper; the Jets shading it on points.
The Mariners usually come out strong in the second half but it was the Jets with two very dangerous attacks that came closest to scoring; this was their best period of the game. Goodwin made a great blind side run into the area but the angle was too tight and he hit the ball into the side netting and moments later James Brown carbon-copied the move but ambitiously tried to curl the ball beyond Ryan when he probably should have squared across the front of the goal.
Phil Moss replaced Caceres with Nick Montgomery and re-jigged the line-up moving McGlinchey to centre-mid in an effort to get the winner. It was an inauspicious debut for Caceres who struggled to live up to the pre-match hype. A couple of neat pieces of footwork aside, the flow of the game passed him by. There was little to stir the emotions, there was none of the electrifying debut of Mustafa Amini or the jaw-dropping impact of Tommy Rogic. It reminded a bit too much of Panni Nikas. Perhaps the weight of expectation was too much; hopefully it was a slow-burn debut and he goes on to become a great player. We may have to wait a little bit longer.
Heskey came off moments later and the better balanced Mariners now pushed forward; there was more purpose about their play. Zwaanswijk was spraying laser-like long range bombs wide to McGlinchey and Bojic. Bozanic and Rose were building impact on the left. Apart from impressive sweeping from Ryan and great covering by Sainsbury the threat from the Jets faded away; they were sitting deeper. Sterjovski got a yellow card for a late lunge at a chance from a Rose cross and was replaced soon after by Kwasnik. Birghitti struggled to hold a low skidding free-kick from Zwaanswijk but recovered to deny the onrushing Mariners. Newcastle almost scored from an unlikely chance but Bojic hoiked the ball away. McGlinchey beat fifteen men in a bewildering dribble but ran the ball too far. The game ended all square; Birghitti much the busier of the two keepers in the second half.. Credit to the Jets for taking the game to the Mariners; credit to the Mariners for taking the game to the Jets in the second half.
I always want the Mariners to win, but they can never win them all. The road to the Premiership will continue to be hard as the well organised Jets showed today. The Mariners have had a weakness all season in the goalscoring department, even with the heroics of McBreen. The loss of Rogic and probably Ibini cuts down the attacking options and presents a problem that the Mariners will need to solve – and quickly.

My MoM goes to Sainsbury who gave an immaculate defensive diplay
2 points to Ryan who showed great assurance in the air
1 point to Zwaanswijk who imposed his considerable presence on the game.

Garlo I gave the guy who hit you to the cops and you should have laid charges however as I was watching from four metres away I will say you if you stand along the route to the station and give lip you deserve it. Oh by the way after he hit you you did not budge to meet his challenge

Hutcho needs a spell in Yoof.

That would be applying the virtual priest to the back of the head for Hutch.
Not sure there's a super hero come back left in the tank.

I'd prefer to see him share game time with his 2013/14 successor.
I have a huge amount of respect for the guy who should be allowed to withdraw with dignity.

Interesting - I like this idea a lot.

AU next - at least we should fire up for it and Arnie/training ought to cover much of that found lacking. Fingers crossed.

Fair call.....he'd be useful off the bench anyway.

Sorry Mods and to anyone of that persuasion. I was still steaming when i got home. I'd normally have resolved the situation to my satisfaction and was frustrated that I wasn't able to teach that Scum an important life lesson.

Caseres showed enough to me to prove that he can be polished into a rare gem. I felt there were a couple of times when he didn't back his own ability and took the soft option and laid the ball back to Hutcho. It's hard to blame the kid though, being his debut and all.

Monty not starting was a surprise. There must be some back story to that because I would have thought that a guy that's played over 400 games in the Championship and EPL would be nailed on to be a starter in a local derby. He put in a decent shift when he did eventually come on in the second half.

Tesco, definitely MoM, closely followed by Maty. The execution of his sweeping role was the best i've ever seen (admittedly I haven't seen much in my short football following history). Dutchy... very cool last night. He played some pretty sweet long balls across the park to Pedj in the 2nd half. By the same token, there were a couple of shockers... but no harm done. Shout outs to WeeMac and McBreen for solid games.

All-in-all, a pretty disappointing night. I though the scum played very well and out enthused us for the majority of the game. I felt that they were running out of petrol with 15 minutes to go. Had we had our composure, the game was there for the taking... but alas, it didn't happen.

Giving lip?? Haha a bunch of blokes walking threw our town chanting that we are scum and f*ck Our town - all I did was clap along and they came over to me.

After he hit me I checked my nose and walked out to middle of the pathway and walked at him then the cops broke it up

Thanks for your help anyway

Interesting. I thought the scum were reasonably well behaved last night.

Our biggest excitement was towards the end when some random decided to pick up and walk off with Rowdys beer from under his seat.

Cue mayhem.
