ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I seem to remember his debut being at the SFS after JVS did his ACL, I recall him dropping a ball that came in from a cross or something? In goals at the northern end

Correct, but bounced back well from that for the rest of the game.

Some of us don't agree that the Mexican wave should be done at the football, but the argument in favour of the wave is any crowd involvement is good?

IMO the wave is better for games with lots of stoppages like cricket or baseball, rather than something that has constant action like football. It's also a sign that the crowd is BORED with the game, but each to their own. The crowd will make up their mind if they think the wave is appropriate or not by either joining in or not, and I'm pretty sure it's never taken off at BTS.

TBF, though I'm not a fan of the wave at football, it got the crowd really involved on NYE v Perth - from my (hazy) memory it was very much participated in by the rest of the stadium and the whole stadium launched into Mariners 3xClap - which was pretty sweet. Derby not the right atmosphere for it though IMO

Spot on... that's exactly what happened.

TBH, when Bay 16 started trying to get the wave going, I thought it had reached a new low. However, once it got going, the crowd got pumped up and the Mariners chant really took off.

It didn't work at the derby... I don't know why, but as i stated earlier, the general vibe in the stands (the western stand at least) was pretty non-existent.

Tesco's debut at RB was horrible wasn't it lol

Worst performance in a yellow shirt since the last days of spencer and mcmaster. I was shaking my head at how bad he was.....just goes to show how much confidence and playing a player in his natural position.....is so important in this game.

Look at Tesco now.....brilliant and destined to play for Australia in his current form.

Watching the replay on tv...you easily outsung the Scum support. They had good numbers and waved their arms around alot but were fairly quiet for the amount of support they had there.
I put it down to the fact that grunting is quieter than singing or maybe i simply couldn't understand them as i'm not fluent in spastic??

On a side issue did you see those Scummy mugs screaming at Olly when he had a throw in....very embarrassing for them when the effect of the 3 VB's they consumed wears off. Is there anything more pathetic than a Squadrunt in full battle cry? The only think sadder would be a GWS supporter from Wilmott or Hebershem.

sorry to be back so soon, but i just saw this.

lol, jesus christ. i'm embarrassed for you.

Was Maty's debut against Sydney... and didn't he drop a howler which led to their winner?

Yes

Absolute shocker.....most weaker managers would have dropped him like a hot stone.

Did another howler a few months later.

The amazing thing about Matty was his ability to rebound and become consistently brilliant. The sign of a very mentally strong person.

Go away you muggy little ****.

I presume you were in there? Maybe you could hear your efforts from up there because we sure couldn't hear you.
I've heard 20+ Perth supporters make more noise.
Maybe the rain dampened your efforts....still if you were happy with it....good for you.

Jog on.

why even lie about it?

if you were actually at the game i'm sure you would have heard the away end. if you're judging from the t.v. coverage, please note that there was no mic in front of the away bays until the second half.

I was impressed at the Squadron numbers, considering you support such a crap Club and the weather was lousy. But I certainly did not hear a single peep from them all night. I put it down to them not having much to sing about. But it could be because any noise they made was drowned out but my position in Bay 16.

It's funny, because the away supporters bay actually has the advantage at BTS - not only do they have a partial roof, but the wind carries their noise back into the stadium giving them a huge sound advantage over Bay 16, who end up singing into the wind.

So if you couldn't hear much from them, then they must have been exceptionally quiet!

The benefits of a roof was amply demonstrated during the Mariners March. Singing and chanting under the flyover next to the Western entrance amplified the sound 10 fold. And, yes, the wind does take the Yellow Army's sound away from the ground unfortunately. It's a pity that we don't have a southern stand.
