what the actual f**k was that, roy??? Way to cost us a goddamn goal. But I'm sure if you had looked harder you would have found a way to be even more selfish then..../facepalm

Disappointing if we don't pull a point from this IMO. Well in the contest against a very good team, just a touch of class short.

Story of our season. We match it all over the park, but just make stupid, stupid, stupid errors at both ends of the park to make sure that all of our efforts on the other 90% of the pitch don't actually matter. Stupid decisions up front, defenders caught watching seagulls or the sauce blimp or a fire engine screaming over the Brian McGowan bridge or god knows what else.

Disappointing to lose but the performance was very good we could have easily won this. We can compete and beat these sides which is very different from last year.

Worst part about the second goal is you could see it coming a mile off. Imagine how Okon must feel watching stupid mistakes unfold in front of him week after week.

Crowd abusing Fabio and its well deserved. Okon copping a bit too.

Is he out of his depth?
Have just read about the crowd abusing Fabio, and a perceived 'lack of passion'. from others. I really must have been at a different stadium - I was proud of the effort the whole team put in. We could have (should have) walked away with a point; the fact that we didn't had nothing to do with lack of effort or passion.

We gave it a good crack today... no complaints there. I thought Fab should've been hooked before he put though that sexy pass to Roy for the goal. He did OK after that. As for Monty, added some much needed toughness in midfield, but his passing... oh my God... it was shit today!

Agree big time with your comment JoyPeng!

I know that all teams suffer injuries, but I suspect that if we had Tav on the field the result would have been very different. It has been pointed out by many on this forum that our backs have no confidence passing the ball forward when he's not on the field - very much the case today.

In no way, shape or form does Paolo deserve any abuse from the crowd. A) he is not responsible for recruiting the vast majority of this team, B) we play like a team. Light years ahead of last season. C) Look at the stats... how long has he been in charge of this group of players? Not long. What do people expect... miracles??? Perhaps such comments of "Okon out" belong on the Facebook Mariners Members page... not here.

I thought overall we played very well tonight.

Apart from the help Roar got from the officials, and our sloppy defending of their second goal, we were right in it to the end.

Massive Captain's knock from Monty. Shows how valuable he is.

Monty's post-match comment about their second goal was spot on when he pointed out that there is no point marking space, as space has never scored a goal. Only players score goals.

Well that was better than expected and really I guess that's why there is a sense of disappointment because we did mix it with one of the top teams.

How I wanted Roy to be on the end of that cross from Appiah-Kubi. 2-2 would of been as good as a win.

I thought Fab might have an injury until he made the run and put the ball through for Roy. He just didn't look to be striding out fully until then, so maybe he is carrying something niggling. Either way there is something not quite right with him.

It was good to have Monty back, he made a big difference. Look forward to Tav coming back now too, can see some new year joy if they both are in the run on side

Missed the game. Gutted to lose again but very happy to hear we're playing well.

As usual our lack of depth is the problem. And it won't get better quickly. My long term hope is we keep Okon long enough for him to construct and be successful with his own squad

FK. Ball bounced and hit Rose on the arm before hitting Ashcroft on the shoulder.

FK given where it hit Rose.

We are just a dumb team. Lack instinct. Especially at the back.
DM's turned into backs do what they are told. Real CB's play the ball and their man.

McGing marking moths in the middle of the box and Neill 5 steps behind the play watching an unmarked Maclaren score a sitter. It's not just youth mistakes they are talent and desire problems.

On the bright side a through ball to Roy on the carpet and bang!

Fab came good and can hopefully build on that 2nd half

Composure and experience of a top 4 team always looking like they could take us when they wanted to

Agreed Atomic. Without Monty we lose 4.0 again and he stiffens up our middle incredibly...but his game is soooo mixed. One minute a beautiful 30 yrd cross pass.....the next minute a 5 yd misplaced pass.
Having said that he is light years ahead of Rose and was defo in our best 3 tonight in fact probably our MOM.
Having said that its not hard to get MOM for us.

The back four tried hard but that goal was pathetic. We defended well in patches but you will NEVER keep a clean sheet with that back 5.
Izzo was excellent apart from the free kick.
