One to be omitted:

Dump O'Grady for sure from that team sheet, Clarkey offers far more in options than Stringers off the bench, in fact i'D START HIM!. AC can play at CB or RB as history has shown but wIth the speculation of a possible 4-2-3-1 formation and Lawrie talking of Chicken or Pedj having a crack at Miles role than Clarkie could also be put into the mix ESPECIALLY if we go the x2 D-Midfielder route.

I'd shape up like this:
                                        (Redders)
                                          Vuka

    (Chicken, Ossie)                                                    (Ossie)
------ Clarkey ---------- Wilko -------- Pedj ------------ Heff ------

              (Ossie, Clarkey, Gumps)
--------------- Chicken ------------------------ Hutch -------------

(Simon, Ossie or Clarkey)                                                    (Ossie, Nik)
--- Gumps ------------------- Caceras ------------------- Sasho ---

                                          (Simon, Nik)
------------------------------- DMac ------------------------------

Bench: Redders, Osssie, Simon & Mrdja

Red being all the different options Lawrie could use, these players can provide either an attacking or defensive 4-2-3-1 option. Dylan would definitely have to play a more target/holding/distribute 'striker' role, likewise if he's substituted with Matty or Nik, which is concerning as that is not they're natural style when winning the long balls, Matty likes to flick on forward but will have to flick wide into corner space or knock back slightly wide for his 3 mid's.

Would like to see a LOT more 1/2's, attacking onto and around the 18yard line, this area is ripe for the pickings as afr as goals go, we use the 'cross from wide area' a lot & opposition teams have wised up i believe, training/working on defending against it, so switch it up !

I am sure the Birthday Boy will be on fire on Saturday Night, Well i hope he is because i would like him to really step up as our key midfielder now that Mile has gone. Plus i would like he to score some more goals this year, hes only scored 2 and i think he has 3 or 4 more goals in him this season.

Fire Up Caceres....

Yes, I too have been impressed by his blistering speed, but I have noticed, he does tend to give the ball away a bit...however, he always tries to make chances and gives it a go, which is good to see

My prediction CCM 2-1, with goals to Sasho and DMac with Van Djik to score for the Roar. their replacement goalie is no walkover either

I think we are still a chance of 2nd. MV have a pretty tough run in as well. Perth can beat them and so can the Nix and us.

I'm so pumped to see how we go without Jedi from now on. Is anyone able to pull our stats without him playing? Could be interesting

Huge game tonight. Our most important so far this season. I'm giving up the Sydney Festival opening event, including Cat Empire and Grace Jones in the Domain for this game. Time to leave the Meows in 4th and still keep our chance of a top 2.

Go you Mariners!!

I still haven't given up on taking the plate again. Adelaide haved Qld, Wellington - who may still be in the mix and us.

If we win all three (big call) we finish on 37. In this case the the most Adelaide can finish on is 39. Their goal differnce is slightly better at the moment but if they lose to us and only have a win andf a drtaw we will  likely be above them. Similarly, Melbourne have Perth us and Wellington. Their best would be 38 and if Wellington were still alive in the last round they might prove a hurdle to Melbourne.

We can still do it - let's face it we have to beat these teams to win the grand final so we might as well start now!!      :pirashoot:

Article from the Daily Tele has Hutch and Ossie playing left and right defensive mid respectively.

Danny

Porter Pedj Wilko Heff
      Ossie  Hutch
Simon  Adrian  Sasho
          Dylan

I like the balance of this shape. Simon has the legs to get up and down the right wing. Porter's balls over the top for him to chase down the line have been effective. Sasho is better off getting closer to D-Mac and in the box to score goals, allowing Heff to come through, or Caceres to drift wide left.

If QLD play a back three, we should get Sash and Matty WIDE to drag them apart and get Adrian running through.

Wahoo, I called it! Great Minds thinks alike Lawrie!

If Osman has to be in the team I'm glad it is at this position. It adds balance and I think Os is more likely to play the ball on the pitch than hoof it long a la Jedi. Not sure if he will pass it forwards though. Could be frustrating if he is content on passing it backwards a la the Hutchmeister.

I like this team though leaving Gumps Disco and Clarke on the bench!

Who will take free kicks now if Nik is off the field? Please not Adrian

Good question. We've lost a lot on set pieces. I bet Sasho will be shoving people out of the way to have a crack but I would like to see Porter have a crack from the dead ball.
