This park is in my street !  It sure makes a change from flying up the F3 every weekend. Our house has been in a state of feverish excitement since we heard the news.

You need to walk straight down Baldwin Ave from the station and Mills Park is at the end. If you walk past Asquith Girls High you're heading in the right direction. It's a dead-end and there is very little parking and no shops, although the Tigers have a canteen which may be open. You could visit the KFC Asquith on the highway (guaranteed better than Wyoming). Bottle shop at Coles at Asquith (not sure what the alcohol rules are in the park)

The park is on flat ground and not much room behind the goals. BYO chairs as not much seating. Just a warning :  there's also another football field called Asquith Park which is in Mills Avenue. Don't go there !

Jedinak primed for shot at TigersTuesday, 1 July 2008

Reigning Central Coast Mariners Medallist and Qantas Socceroo Mile Jedinak will rejoin his team-mates for tonights pre-season trial match against NSW Super League side the Northern Tigers at Mills Park, having completed his six-week stay with the national team.

Jedinak, along with new signing Adrian Caceres, is one of two fresh inclusions in the Mariners line up to face the Tigers, while as many as seven first team candidates will again watch from the sidelines due to injury, national team commitments or suspension.

Positively, ace striker Nik Mrdja is a strong possibility to make his first appearance of the Mariners pre-season trial match program against the Newcastle Jets at Canberra Stadium on Saturday, 12 July, while Paul OGrady and Greg Owens have each progressed with their respective injury concerns.

Nigel Boogaard and Matt Simon will arrive in Sydney from their stay in Darwin with the Beijing-bound Qantas Under 23s simultaneous to tonights match, while Danny Vukovic is ineligible due to suspension.

Marksman Dylan Macallister, the Mariners top goal scorer in pre-season thus far, will miss tonights match with a minor hamstring strain that is not expected to keep the former international away from competitive action for longer than one week.

However, Jedinaks return to the Mariners fold is a major positive for the yellow and navys season four preparations, particularly given the devastating form Jedinak had displayed in Mariners colours throughout the Hyundai A-League 2007/08 campaign, which saw the 23-year-old rewarded with the Mariners Medal for player of the year as voted by the playing group.

"Last week I had a bit of time off and now Im raring to go," said Jedinak, who was given a leave pass for the Mariners five-day trip to Canberra last week.

"Im looking forward to easing my way into our trial games, hopefully having a crack at the Pre-Season Cup, which Im sure the coaching staff want us to do well at, and looking forward to being with the boys again and getting those wins on the board."

Jedinak has missed each of the Mariners pre-season trial matches to date by virtue of contributing to Australias 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification quest.

While with the national team, Jedinak was an unused substitute for three of Australias first five group matches before starting the Qantas Socceroos final qualification match against China PR at Sydneys ANZ Stadium.

Jedinaks cap against China PR was his third for his country at senior level, following starts against Singapore in March and against Ghana in May.

"I was lucky enough to play against China and just enjoyed it, unfortunately we didnt get the result, but overall it was a great experience," said Jedinak

"It can only better you, being around that atmosphere and that environment 24/7 and seeing the intensity at training, it was a great benefit to me and something that I look forward to doing in the future."

Yep, I'll be there too. Lets hope they fire up farkin! I've only seen two trial matches, pluim park and Budgewoi; one was a bit of a grind and wasn't pretty and the other was a loss. It would be nice to see one of those 4-0 scorelines ;D
