Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

neill plays CB slater winger

. you seem to be confusing your neills again ... lucas is a CB - young micky is a LB

. regarding slater: my understanding was that he was signed to the first team but arnie sees his immediate future in the NYL learning the mariners way. not unexpected for someone so young

. what is the current requirement for youngens in the first squad? three under 20's?

That settles that:

Pasfield's not #1.
Matt Simon's back in 19 and Mitchell Duke is #9.
In a big surprise, Flores is #10.

I've got the feeling a keeper wont be the last signing. My spidy senses are tingling.
Tom Slater is a bit of a nothing signing. Sure he is a genuine lefty but he wont see a minute of game time unless he repeatedly plays many levels above what he did last year in yoof.

The squad just doesn't seem balanced. We have quite a few guys that should be at striker but wont be. The base of our squad is great, it always is. Our midfield seems a bit short. Bozanic is a major loss IMO.

Lucas started out as a RB but later became a CB

According to Football Manager, it is a max of 20 over 21 players.

I think we are light at DM; Monty and Hutch both can do the heavy work but I view Caceres as more piano player than piano shifter. With Bozanic we had three players who were able to maintain the performance of the two required. Arnie though, may have other thoughts, another structure in mind. Or he may give Caceres a full go and tweak the dynamics a little. Or he may just play McBreen there...:innocent:

If we play 4-2-3-1 then that is the case. However, both Zac and Trent can play at DM. If we are to get another outfield player then that looks to be the position. Either that or another young striker in the expectation that it is likely to be both Danny and Mile's last season and the possibility that Matty's return is simply a rehab stop for him before he looks to continue his OS adventures.

I reckon your both wide of the mark. I can see us looking for another wide midfielder. I still cant get thoughts of Matsui out of my head & how amazing he would have been in our setup. I reckon Arnold may still be holding out hope for someone of that type, A genuine wide midfielder.

Given we've not seen them play there, I'd be more inclined to use the word 'could' rather than 'can' - they certainly look like they have the skill-set, but until they're tested I'm really not sure whether it would work, particularly with regard to work-rate and positional sense.

trent would lap up Dm . his read in defence is top shelf. this guy could be as good as zelic or okon.

Look, whatever position he plays he needs to take advantage of how great he is at challenging the ball. His tackling is top shelf stuff, great timing when coming in at speed.

I think Fitzy will step up and make his mark this season. Matsui would have been sensational but unlikely we could have afforded him.
