ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

. perhaps he doesn't fit in with the way they want to play ... you know ... playing out from the back - so he may have been offered the opportunity to move on

They are undergoing a revolution at Glory...
So you may be right...if you think of how Barca use Valdes (who does a lot better job with the ball then my favourite GK Casillas...)

Isnt the idea that perth are going to bring back Tando?

The only reason would be if they are trying to re-establish the Western Australian heritage at Glory???
He is younger than Vukovic...

But it all depends on reason they are letting go of Danny...
Is it for family reasons?

Or because Danny can't play from the back

Because I heard the problem Ange had with Velaphi was that he couldn't play from the back...
So is Velaphi that much an improvement?

No goalkeeper in the A-League has distribution skills like Maty Ryan had.
Crawley must have cringed every time Danny was clearing the defensive area. Robbie Deans would have been more impressed with Dannys clearances and his ability to consistently find touch around the half way line

Give Pasfield his chance He hasnt let us down when given the opportunity as understudy to Ryan Danny wouldnt have been on the radar when Ryan left so we will just have to wait and see what and who Arnie brings in as understudy

Clearing is not all of distribution. Danny was great with the quick distribution throwing/kicking to start a counter attack. Matty did this as well. I think danny is decent with his feet on the ground, but as when matty was here, I hope we dont keep giving hospital passes. ACL was getting overthetop.

Pasfield hasnt done awful, did better this year than last IMO. But still, Danny was very solid for perth this year in the 7 or 8 of their games I watched. Had alot more to do than Justin and unlike Justin has not been warming the bench for 2 years.

. i always wondered why danny didn't just throw the ball all the time (faster and he was much more accurate)

. but it is not the times he can get his hands on the ball that i am worried about - he seems to panic when he has to play the ball and can't pick it up. consider the hundreds of times maty has received a back pass over the last few years and played it out with either foot ... without panic - although sometimes he bloody well shoulda because he has caused panic in the stands (GF for example)

Ryan took the piss. He'd receive on one foot (either one, didn't matter), suck the striker in and hit a target 40m away on the run with his other foot. His distribution was an attacking weapon and probably more important to us than his shot-stopping, particularly considering that if you're able to turn a side around that quickly they're going to be a little circumspect in terms of how many numbers they throw at us.

From what I saw of him every time he caught the ball he almost never kicked it long he always either passed it short or rolled it out maby that's arnie's style of play

... and rarely acknowledged. in fact the back four normally pocket the accolades without consideration of the bigger picture (fair enough i s'pose). but it also may have served as a slight hinderance when we came up against some quality opposition in the acl because we were not so well versed in defending certain attacks

His easy distribution meant that in contrast to Brisbane with Theoklitos, our FBs tended to [be a little lazy/cheat (delete as applicable)] higher up the park, not always coming deeper for a square release. Simple reason is they didn't have to work as hard to create a playable outlet. Ryan played forward on angles far more often than he played square.

Brisbane's FBs *always* burn down the pitch to come square for their keeper and play out from there, while ours tended to stay level with the DMs. It's not that they never came that deep, they just didn't need to.

Their FBs also tend to be facing the opponent's forward line, whereas ours are already ahead of the forwards and looking at the midfield.
