ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Hmmm...I read on SFCU forums that Slater was coming to us about 2 months ago...but I never heard anything again...I might check out their forum a bit more :D

Sounds good...i like the look of the squad. Lots of good young talent to develop, some old heads and some real class. Another keeper and maybe an experienced defender would round it off.

So now it's as follows:

#2) [Daniel McBreen] (on loan til end of October)
#3) Josh Rose
#5) Zac Anderson
#7) John Hutchinson
#13) Brent Griffiths
#14) Michael McGlinchey
#16) Trent Sainsbury
#17) Anthony Caceres
#18) Nick Montgomery
#19) Mitchell Duke
#20) Justin Pasfield
#21) Mile Sterjovski (Mick K has stated on SFCU that he's re-signed, just not announced)
#23) Adam Kwasnik (Mick K has stated on SFCU he's re-signed, just not announced)
#24) Hayden Morton
#25) Michael Neill
#29) Nicholas Fitzgerald
#??) Matt Simon
#??) Marcos Flores
#??) Storm Roux
#??) Tom Slater
#??) Marcel Seip

That's 21 players!

Sign a keeper and you can stick a fork in it, we're done.

Looks like we're waving goodbye to Pellegrino, McDonald and Oates.

Probably a topic for another thread, but we need some songs for these guys. Marcel Seip is easy, to the tune of Dr Zaius from The Simpsons.

Suprisingly catchy.

Siep is a great pick up.

Also I expect Pasfield to pick up the #1 shirt unless we make a signing at keeper, which don't sound likely. Bradesevic to be back up it looks like.

Ha ha...
Marcel Seip did put his car up for sale 5 days ago :p
And everyone ignored me :p

Good to hear he is quick...coz according to FIFA he is very slow (and short...I need either tall or fast defenders)

To be fair, he is Dutch so he can be Dutchy version point whatever he wants as long as he is half as good for us as Patty was.

Officially the shortest (starting) CB in Mariners history...unless you count Porter? :p

I though Sainsbury is short (but he more than makes up for it...)

O'grady 1.93
Beauchamp 1.91
Patrick 1.90
Zac 1.89
Doig 1.88
Boogard 1.88
Wilko 1.87
Tony Vidmar 1.86
Trent 1.84

Marcel is 1.83

So he is short for a CB, especially by our standards

Hence it is a relief to hear that he in fact does have pace...

Look at our CB's...who would be considered pacey?
Trent > Zac /Wilko...and no-one else...right?

For the record...brad porter was 1.80 :p

I don't know why we aren't looking at Velaphi. Surely he fits the nice guy policy and is somenone Crawley can work with.
really not a fan. I rather take our yl goal keeper or have a try out with the best coast, goal keepers 16 to 20
maybe a few ring in's (yes it's very reality tv) but why not .
we have the best system in the country .that's what we offer the best kids.

feel free to throw stones

"Teenager Tom Slater has ignored interest from abroad to sign a three-year deal with Hyundai A-League champions Central Coast.
The son of former Socceroo Robbie has penned his first professional contract at 16 after playing for Sydney FC's youth league side last season.
According to Mariners group general manager Peter Turnbull, 16-year-old Tom had attracted interest from 'a leading French club'.
New Zealand Under-20s right-back Storm Roux has joined the Mariners as well on a two-year deal.
Slater, a left winger, said he opted to play under Graham Arnold after seeing the former Socceroos coach give youngsters a chance."

This is exactly why I love Graham Arnold. Him giving youngsters a start and developing them to get offers from overseas is bringing other talented youngsters to us.

Also another quote from the article:

""I got a big confidence boost when I found out a big club like the Mariners and a coach like Graham Arnold wanted me," Roux said."

We're a "big club" now.

Oi this is Slater isn't it?
And looks like Simon has got 19 back. Didn't see any photos of Dukey so not sure if he is being promoted to 9 or 11 or what. I imagine Flores will get 10.

I agree, GA obviously liked him at the Olyroos. Many will say he has a few howlers, but very few keepers (or players) don't. Maty had his but really you have to look at the whole package - what is natural and what can be coached.

Good points

First up Tando is probably a better reflex keeper than Crawley, Danny or Maty.
He also commands his area quite well.
He is not Reddy.

Areas to work on - that JC can teach him:-

to be less 'flappy' at corners
how to distribute the ball better.
keep large in a 1 v1 situation.
