Reported on the MV forum...

I am so happy to be able to play again with a smile on my face,”

“I feel happy now and I have so much energy and enthusiasm for the Mariners.”

“I have been good in the A-League before, but with the Mariners I will be better.”

Just quietly, Reddy was dire against CCMA today.

Clearly at fault for both goals, tried to punch everything, nearly gifted Payne a goal and was almost lobbed being miles off his line.

A League quality? Not sure he is PL standard

Not overly excited. . Ange does not let too many good one's go!!
Ange is set in his mind about the style he wants his team to play and is uncompromising about it. He chops and changes players at will to suit his way and perseveres until it works.
Flores didn't fit his philosophy and was played out of position and therefore ineffectively.
Arnie, however, sets up to make best use of his players and as a coach manages to get the very best out of every individual. Flores is a high quality talent and we'll see it in full colour this season you can be sure of that

GrA, right back at you, as above, you often say exactly what I had in mind. Love it. And the Weemac point is bang on too.

You see it quite a lot, that a certain coach is excellent with a certain team in certain conditions that whether they know it or not, suits them to a tee. Ange is a really good coach. But Arnie is the next step up. He clearly learnt some very very important lessons under Guus. Nothing is sacrosanct. No player. No formation. No sysstem.
And if you must put one thing above all others. Make it a good culture/attitude. He's a class above. I can't believe we've got him for another year. Let's bask in it, and do what no one else has... Go back to back and win the AFC.

Reprising/revising my post from a coupla weeks ago, we've got a few more changes confirmed now, but the starting lineup looks set to stay much as I thought.

Pasfield
Morton Sainsbury Anderson Rose
Monty Hutch
McGlinchey Flores Fitzgerald
Duke
My question: just how f**king dumb is Ange Postecoglou? That starting lineup looks goooooooood, and Flores is like the missing piece in the jigsaw. f**king hell, we could tear some people a new one with that setup.

The evolution of the 2012/13 squad to the 2013/14 squad as I see it is below.

If they're in square brackets, they're not with us for 2013/14.

If they're in italics, it's rumoured or guesswork rather than confirmed.

#1) [Mat Ryan] (Club Brugge)
#2) [Daniel McBreen] (on loan til end of October)
#3) Josh Rose
#4) [Pedj Bojic] (SFC)
#5) Zac Anderson
#6) [Patrick Zwaanswijk] (retired)
#7) John Hutchinson
#8) [Adriano Pellegrino] (CCMA)
#9) [Bernie Ibini-Isei] (Shanghai SIPG)
#10) [Tom Rogic] (Celtic)
#11) [Olly Bozanic] (FC Luzern)
#13) Brent Griffiths
#14) Michael McGlinchey
#15) [Brad McDonald] (CCMA)
#16) Trent Sainsbury
#17) Anthony Caceres
#18) Nick Montgomery
#19) Mitchell Duke
#20) Justin Pasfield
#21) Mile Sterjovski (likely to stay?)
#22) [Jimmy Oates] (released)
#23) Adam Kwasnik (likely to stay?)
#24) Hayden Morton
#25) Michael Neill
#29) Nicholas Fitzgerald
#30) David Bradasevic (upgrade from NYL?)
#??) Matt Simon
#??) Marcos Flores
#??) Liam Reddy (persistent and disturbing rumours abound - if anyone at the club reads this, I don't care if you think he's f**king Iker Casillas, he must not pull on our shirt.)

Now, it feels like I'm either missing people or we're actually a bit short on contracted players:

#2) [Daniel McBreen] (on loan til end of October)
#3) Josh Rose
#5) Zac Anderson
#7) John Hutchinson
#13) Brent Griffiths
#14) Michael McGlinchey
#16) Trent Sainsbury
#17) Anthony Caceres
#18) Nick Montgomery
#19) Mitchell Duke
#20) Justin Pasfield
#24) Hayden Morton
#25) Michael Neill
#29) Nicholas Fitzgerald
#??) Matt Simon
#??) Marcos Flores

That's only 16 players!

If we were to re-sign the guys at CCMA and our remaining unsigned guys from last year, we'd be looking at the below, bringing us up to 21.

#8) [Adriano Pellegrino] (CCMA)
#15) [Brad McDonald] (CCMA)
#21) Mile Sterjovski (likely to stay?)
#22) [Jimmy Oates] (released)
#23) Adam Kwasnik (likely to stay?)

Then, there's the keeper situation... I think the call should be:
#30) David Bradasevic (upgrade from NYL?)

Then we're up to 22 and good to go for the season.

in regardes 2 the keeper situation there was an article in the sunday telegraph (16/6/13) that arnie was trying 2 sign schwartzie despite the fact that he's said that he doesn't want 2 play in the a-league

remember the 1 advantage arnie has over ange is that he's coached the socceroos (& gone to 2 world cups as an assistant coach) (f***n worst socceroos coach ever) & ange hasn't

I'm not sold on Bradasevic but would rather him than Reddy.

16 signed and announced. Storm Roux seems to also have been signed from his twitter. As you said Kwasnik and Sterj are likely to stay and the talk is that they are re-signed but not announced. That puts the number to 19.

Anyone but Reddy (maybe Velaphi who was a favourite of GA with the Olyroos) makes it 20 and we probably need someone to cover CB/DM

Were you sold on Danny or Maty when they first came into the squad? Hopefully Bradasevic will come on they same way those guys did, but also hopefully not in similar circumstances!
I still remember Velaphi's horror match at Bluetongue when a long ball bounced over his head, he fell over trying to turn and chase and Matty Simon passed to Big Mac for a tap-in. One would hope he's improved since then.

I'd only seen Danny train so wasn't sure. Maty I had seen at NYL level and I thought he could make the step. I have seen David at NYL level and don't feel the same way.

As for Tando - he is a very good shot stoppe and that is a great start. I trust that JC could take him to another level.

Bradesevic isn't good enough. Needs more time.

Reddy was awful yesterday, just awful. Trottesque in fact.

We need a new CB, a keeper and as a bolter? Brady Smith at RB.

(That's a long long shot but you never know)
